WD 2TB My Passport Ultra USB3.0 Portable HDD (Blue) $108 Shipped @ Shopping Express

120

Found this price while searching for one of these to extend the storage on my brand new Xbox One S. Price includes shipping to Melb metro. Only the blue version is available at this price.

Not as good as the $99 from the CentreCom deal, but better than the best pre-shipping price of $137 on staticice.

For those looking to use it for the same purpose as me, a 5400rpm drive was recommended as the best value storage upgrade by a couple of different websites.

Games installed on it are slightly faster than the stock internal drive, and more expensive 7200rpm, hybrid drives and SSDs only have a slight advantage in most cases.

See here for more info.

Edit (30th Dec): Note that the deal expires tonight at midnight. Not sure whether I've marked the expiry correctly.

  • This or Seagate backup plus slim?

    • From reviews/experience Western Digital has a better reupatation in quality then Seagate. So this would be better in my opinion.

    • People like backup plus slim for putting into their Xbox or Playstation. These ones have USB soldered to the board so can't be pulled out for that use, and if the USB interface quits your drive is not worth recovering. But my experience has been much better reliablility with WD. Others who've had different experiences will disagree though.

  • My last WD carked it. Just spent a phone hour with Seagate, the replacement, and it had a problem, but we were able to reload it.

Anyone know if these are sata drives inside and are they compatible in a PS4?

  • I'd like to know if this is good for ps4 too, seems like a good drive to have 500gb fills up way too fast

    • Based on the comment from syousef I'd say these aren't the best. Sounds like the Seagate one is a better option for replacing the internal PS4 drive.

I am close to running out of space on the laptop and my current WD 2TB HD so thanks again For posting the deal.

I actually needed it rather than it being an impulse buy. :)
