    • Same! Was using my 3 months Stan subscription but either way still pretty good.

      • Yeah I was holding out too and this offer replaced it… oh well.

  • +1

First time I've heard of this Telstra TV thingy. Seems it's just a Roku sold outright without requiring any sort of subscription; correct?

Anyway, was wondering if it's possible to purchase the Telstra TV device, activate it, get Netflix 6 months then sell the Telstra TV device? Does the device remain linked to you in any sort of way? Can it be deactivated if selling it? Or do you need to keep it activated for the duration of the free Netflix?

    Any help appreciated :)

    • +1

Yes you can deactivate it but the offer will not be able to be redeemed again to the New owner of the TTV.

So you could buy a TTV, activate it, redeem 6 months Netflix and sell the TTV.

      • Thanks.

However, upon further reading, it seems Telstra TV requires being connected with Telstra internet. I guess that means I won't be able to activate it unless I'm with Telstra…?

        • +1

It can be used with any ISP / internet connection…it just has to be activated with a Telstra account (can just use a $2 Telstra sim account if you are not with Telstra).

        • @kirt: Awesome! Thanks :)
When I read it requires a "Telstra Service" I assumed internet. I guess not.

        • You don't even need to do that, as far as I know you can get a telstra web email account for free and use that to log in.

Edit - It appears that you do need a Telstra service to get a Telstra ID/email.

        • I just chatted to the online Telstra help and they said I can use the item even without being connected to them with internet. For reference my internet is with Dodo.

        • It keeps getting better.
EDIT: Doesn't seem you can make a webmail account for free…

        • Yes the box works with any internet provider.

        • +2

@reslo: If you are not yet a Telstra customer, you can still register for a Telstra ID to use with CrowdSupport, AFL or NRL App.

          https://www.telstra.com.au/my-account/telstra-id

        • @malouphix: There only seems to be an option for existing Telstra customers to register, which asks for a Telstra phone or account number.

        • @unkown: Just buy a $2 Telstra Prepaid SIM card and sign up using that.

        • @realfancyman: how do you sign up with a $2 sim? After failing online activation I was told you need to recharge to activate over the phone?

        • @Jackson: That's incorrect. Call 1258887 and you'll be able to activate on the phone.

  • Great Work OP

  • Extremely easy to do, just login and two clicks :)

  • +1

Works a treat. Used my partners phone as well as the recent 3 month offer. 18 months free now!

  • Thanks mate.
Recently switched 6 services to Telstra from Optus.
Just tried on my phone with the Telstra TV app and got the credit to my netlix account.

Going to do it on all services.

  • Yeah, on my business Telstra phone - only 1 month Netflix showing on offers

    • +1

I know right, otherwise I would have stacked this using 100 work mobiles…

      • +2

        1 month x 100 mobiles = 100 months

        • Doesn't work. The 1 month free trial is for new services only.

  • Has anyone got this working on a Telstra $10 SIM Starter Kit?
Was thinking it could be stacked so basically $10 for 6 months of Netflix…wash and repeat…

    • +1

Already tried. Doesn't work on any of my $10 starter kits I've been using or my F+ SIM :(

  • Champion post OP, thanks a bunch!

  • Does anyone know if one can purchase one at a Telstra Store? Just tried to order online and it wouldn't complete the order.

    • Can find them cheaper on gumtree

      • So I got one.. New unopened on Gumtree.
        $60 in Adelaide.
Activated and see the 6 month offer.

I'm already on 1 month free.. Will this stack as credit if I redeem now?

        • +2

Should do as it applies a $ credit.

  • free money!

  • Thanks reslo, a good find much better than the general crud :)

  • -1

so all you need is a telsta mobile number and you can redeem this promo seems they deactivated my pre paid as I havn't used it.

  • I am with Telstra but don't have the Telstra TV roku unit, I'm guessing I can't get it??

    • astro81 11 min ago new
I don't have a Telstra TV and never have, I logged into the TV+ iOS app and the 6 month Netflix was there and it worked. Excellent timing too as the three months free Netflix from Telstra (same app) was about to expire this month! :-)

    • Get the app on your phone.

    • Download the TV+ app on either Android or iOS, login to your My Account or be on a Telstra mobile network and you should be able to see the offer.

      • Ok

Is Netflix unmetered on big pond?

        • No

  • +1

Downloaded the app on my iphone and signed in with my bigpond email but only shows 1 Month Free Netflix

    • Which app? I can't find TV+ app on iOS AppStore

      • It's there…Just search for Telstra TV.
Just did it on the wife's phone.

      • Hope this helps: Telstra TV+

    • Same

  • Thanks mate. Finally activated the TV box and got the 6 months free. It was annoying to activate the box as my usual log in details didn't work so had to create a new log in using my broadband login. oh well, it was worth the effort. Thanks again.

  • Worked for me Telstra tv+ app on android thanks awesome freebie.

    • Are you a post paid Telstra user?

      • Yes telstra BYO postpaid

  • +3

Had 9 months free for my 3 services got another 18 months free so total 27 months of free Netflix.

  • Thanks mate, good find

  • Not working for me. Had a Telstra TV, recently sold it on Gumtree, can't see any active TV's on my account and no amount of kerjiggering on my telstra postpaid mobile is showing anything.

  • It seems you need to have Telstra TV to be able to get this offer. :(

  • I'm pre paid and it didn't appear for me either on the web or via the app

  • +7

It appears we have two groups of people who are trying to sign up to the 6 months free netflix via the telstra tv+ app on their mobile. Both groups do NOT have a telstra TV

Group 1 - downloads telstra TV app, logs in with their telstra ID or automatically is logged in using their telstra mobile data, clicks on offers, and sees the offer for 6 month free netflix
Group 2 - downloads telstra TV app, logs in with their telstra ID or automatically is logged in using their telstra mobile data, clicks on offers, and ONLY sees the offer for 1 month free netflix

So for the sake of Group 2, can anyone from Group 1 advise on what phone plans their may be on, whether they did anything else to make the deal show etc, as I'm sure we'd all appreciate this VERY much.

    Thanks in advance!!

    • +2

I'd assume most group 1 are postpaid and group 2 are prepaid

      • +1

This wouldn't be correct neither as I'm a postpaid telstra customer and I can only see 1 month - not the 6 months..

        • In that case, I hope someone from group 1 will give us extra details

        • +1

          You can redeem via https://www.my.telstra.com.au/myaccount

That's what I did with a postpaid account.

It is under [Telstra TV] on the right

@JajaMinx: what post paid mobile plan are you on?

        • @carva848:

          Go Mobile Plan $70

    • +1

No need to download the app, just go to hub.telstra.com.au/offers and it will show you all the offers you're entitled to, either by accessing it with over the cellular network or logging on with your Telstra ID.

      • So who is entitled to this offer?

  • Have 2 Telstra mobiles, Broadband and Telstra home phone and can only find a 1 month offer.

  • I don't have a telstra mobile plan but my internet is through their cable service, but it appears I can't sign in through the telstra tv app because no mobile associated accounts are with them?
I assumed due to my $1200 per year telstra bill I'd be eligible, I also use a Telstra T-Box the roku predecessor.

    • Use the link in the OP. Had the same problem and it appeared when I went through link. Hope this helps.

      • My Telstra TVs
You have 0 active Telstra TVs.

        • The same unfortunately for me, might need to be mentioned this is only for telstra mobile users.

        • @pennyless:

Have you tried going to hub.telstra.com.au/offers

        • @dins: It mentions:

          Please turn off your Wi-Fi
In order to show you your offers, we'll need to find you on the Telstra Mobile Network via your mobile phone, when I login with my id it tells me to activate a mobile account to see any offers.

I'm thinking I might have to buy a telstra tv, but it's missing much of the functionality my t-box currently has like PVR.

  • If you have the offer and clicking on Redeem Now … did it give you a promo code for you to use on netflix?
Can someone share the link after clicking the Redeem?

  • I don't know how I've done it but somehow I've created a new Netflix account when trying to sign into my current account! Now to try and get the credit transferred :(

  • Thanks OP. Great find!

  • +1

OK - I've managed to figure out the criteria for this offer!

    https://www.telstra.com.au/tv-movies-music/telstratvplusapp

'New and recontracting customers who take up a $95/mth Go Mobile Plus Plan (min cost $2,280 with no additional Handset repayments when you stay connected for 24 months) and above or a $70/mth Go Mobile Plus BYO Plan (min cost $840 on a 12 month plan) and above will receive:

6 months Apple Music subscription with data-free music streaming
    6 months subscription to Netflix
3 new release rentals from BigPond Movies
    2016/2017 NBL Live Pass
All offers must be redeemed through the Telstra TV+ app 'My Offers' section.

Ongoing subscription charges apply for Netflix after 6 months from the date of redemption & for Apple Music after 6 months from the date of redemption. Please refer to things you need to know for subscription redemption dates.'

So you MUST be on either a $95/mth Go Mobile PLUS plan or above (please note the PLUS as the older NON-PLUS plans aren't eligible) or on a $70/mth Go Mobile Plus BYO Plan or above. So for those who are not seeing the 6 month offer and only seeing the standard 1 month netflix offer, it's highly likely that you don't have the correct phone plan. However, if you are on an eligible phone plan and you're still not getting the offer, then I'd be contacted Telstra to notify them of this as you're entitled to the deal!

You DO NOT need to be an owner of a Telstra TV to get this offer. :)

    • That's not right. I only have Foxtel through Telstra, no mobiles, no fixed phone, no internet. I don't think its as simple as that otherwise there would have been a lot more people complaining they only see 1 month available not 6.

      • So you only have foxtel through telstra and you were able to sign up to the 6 months free netflix?

        • Yes.

    • Incorrect, I'm on the $40 Mx BYO plan and was given the 6 months Netflix simply by visiting hub.telstra.com.au/offers

      • Well then, this had got me stumped.. I have no idea who can and can not get this offer. If anyone can help shed some light it would be so appreciated.

        Thanks!

  • You Sir are a legend. Thank you

  • +3

what is the lowest cost i need to pay to Telstra to get the 6 months free netflix? I dont use any services of Telstra at the moment.

    • I think you can buy the Telstra TV for $109 outright. But the downside is that you'll need a Telstra login with a home internet plan attached.

      • I have a Telstra TV box that my folks gave me, a Telstra ID from a prepaid service, and an ISP who is not Telstra, and I got 6 months Netflix. So the minimum requirements with the Telstra TV box are: the Telstra TV box itself + a Telstra ID (which you can get with a $2 SIM). Then you just activate the Telstra TV box using your Telstra ID. You do not need Telstra home internet.

  • I don't have Telstra TV, don't have Prepaid or postpaid, but I have Telstra broadband. WHen I logged in, there is no Netflix offer, only 1 month foxtel play. Sigh

  • This is what live chat told me…

Thank you for the details. I checked our ongoing offer, and it appears that it is only applicable for customers who activated their Telstra TV from 26/12/2016 - 13/02/2017.
Arlene Grace at 21:52, Dec 30:
"6 Months Netflix and BigPond Movie Credit Offer (Start 26/12/2016 – End 13/02/2017)."

I have the Telstra M Bundle that came with the Telstra TV. I have never used it though and when I log into https://tv.telstra.com.au/home.html it says 0 Telstra TVs…

    • But there are people on here who have managed to get this offer without even owning a telstra tv at all..

    • No that's wrong I've had my Telstra TV box activated and using it for 6 months maybe even longer and I got the 6 month offer today, who knows how long it had been hiding under the Telstra tab within my account but I claimed it.

Edit: I got $15 credit for bigpond movies when I first connected my Telstra TV, like I said at least 6 months ago.

Edit 2: Jholiday just register the Telstra TV box and the offer should show up under the Telstra TV tab in your account settings (website).

  • HI Everyone. I have just signed up to OzBargain! We already have a telstra TV and have redeemed a free month of Netflix. I have read all of the thread carefully above but I just can't see anywhere that I can redeem this! I have logged into Netflix, Telstra- can't see anywhere about the special deal! any suggestions??

    • Did you log into your Telstra account via this link> http://tv.telstra.com.au/ ? It should be in there.

      • Wow thanks for the fast response! Yes I did. I can't see anything there…
There is another deal for something else but not netflix…

I also just checked that the cookies were enabled to make sure that was not preventing it…

        • Can't help I'm afraid. Try back when the first redemption is over, it might appear then. You have until the end of March.

        • @reslo: Thanks heaps. Will do..

  • Any one managed to get the 6 mth offer with a Telstra pre-paid mobile service? I only see the 1 mth offer.

    • +1

I think this is only for those with a Telstra TV device or account.

  • I have Telstra mobile accelerate plan $95 and I don't get the 6 month offer, just the month for new customers. No Telstra tv.

    • Kinda random by the sounds of it

      • You're right it does appear there isn't really a set criteria for this offer. People with telstra tv got it, people without telstea tv got it, people on post paid Mobile got it, other people on post paid Mobile didn't get it, people with prepaid got it, others without mobiles or services at all apart from foxtel with telstra got it. It seems to be just the luck of the draw which is extremely annoying..

Anyone not using there code, I would happily accept 😉
