Slightly smaller, and spec's are not as good as the Axon 7. Audio seems nearly as good as the Axon 7, which is excellent. Vat removed at checkout. Personally, I think the standard Axon 7 is a better buy for an extra $150, but this seems decent for someone with a $350 budget.

  • Oops wrong phone.

    • Haha, yeah all good.

  • Mini in terms Camera MP and Battery mAH in comparison to the ZTE Axon 7 it seems. Mini screen is 5.2" Vs the 5.5" of the deal mentioned. Personally would go for the 5.5 which has bigger battery.

  • Yep, a good deal, but 5.2" is not really a mini size.

    • +2

In this thread I learned that 0.3 of an inch less makes something 'mini'.

      • It's just a name. What should they have called it? The Axon 7 slightly smaller?

  • +2

yeh nah dont go for this if you can afford the Axon 7

the SD 617 is very mid range it is even slower than the original SD615 by small margin and it is 2-3 times SLOWER than the SD820 in the Axon 7, although in user experience its not as much ofcourse.

  • +1

Plus the new 10% Turnbull tax?

  • July 1st 2017.

  • The Yesterday S617???

Are they kidding?? No efficient 625 nor powerful 652 = No sale @ $300+.

    • +1

Do you only buy a phone for the processor? The 617 is perfectly adequate for a midrange phone paired with 3gb, pushing a 1080p panel. Which devices have you used with 617, 625, and 652 to compare?

      • his money, his criterion

if he's a heavy game player thats his choice

        • If he's a heavy gamer, he wouldn't be considering this phone.

        • @aja12:

No. 617 is not good. 625 is an acceptable mid-range for almost every task including games but also providing great efficiency.

        • @claud0902: Based on benchmarks or real world experience?

        • @aja12:

Real world experience. Otherwise why do I keep mentioning efficiency??

I do not know what you argue for here. The non-mini version is clearly a bargain @ <$500, but this @ >$300 is clearly not.

Now most of phone is fast enough in UI if you just briefly use it. Just try a S430 xiaomi redmi 4 low end version. But if you use it a bit more, like use chrome for a bit more tabs and switch to some other forum apps a bit. The performance issue would show up in low end chips.

Also a good mid range phone should be adequate to everything you use based on today's standard. High end chip however, is more future proof now. And the major difference between mid range and high end now is on camera quality but not daily performance.

        • @claud0902: who's arguing? Which devices have you owned with those processors? I'm interested in your experience.

        • @aja12:

Did you not see my other reply below?

          Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 650
          Moto G4+ 617
          Zenfone 3 625
          Nexus 6p 810

I can tell you the 625/650 even feel on par with 810 in my every day use (browsing, gaming) but the G4+ 617 is not. And 625 has much better battery efficiency than every other chips I used.

        • +1

@claud0902: I saw your other post, where did it say what phones you have owned with which processors? Anyway, this phones not for you, that's fine.

Axon 7 Mini destroys all of those phones for audio quality, which is probably why someone on a budget might consider this phone.

          @aja12:

Your low vote of this deal explains.

It is a crap phone at a not attractive price. That is all. I have no issue that you think it is your phone. But I have issue not saying it is a crap phone for the price.

        • @claud0902: lol, OK. It's got more upvotes than your last post. "I have no issue that you think it is your phone. But I have issue not saying it is a crap phone for the price."…Uh, and you wonder why I didn't understand your last post.

        • @aja12:

Corrected. I meant OP. It is supposed to be called "deal" in OZB, but I am just reluctant to call it a "deal".

13 votes for a "good" phone. What a pity vote count.

        • @claud0902: You don't think it's a deal, that's fine. Move on, ignore the post. I never said it was the greatest deal, or the greatest phone for the money. I posted it because I thought it might be useful to someone who was looking to buy this phone for the cheapest price. Unless ZTE has sold zero of these phones, then not everyone has your opinion. If it's such a horrendous deal for just a piece of junk phone, neg the deal.

10 votes for your iPhone 7 post? That makes iPhone 7 crap by your logic? What's a 'pity' vote count? And what did you 'fix' in your previous post? It still makes no sense.

        • @aja12:

10 votes for your iPhone 7 post?

That deal for the price was ok but the deal itself expired very soon therefore the vote count was small. Different to your case.

Your "deal" does not qualify to get neg. Because your post list a good price for the particular phone which I have never questioned.

However, the question is the whether this phone is good phone for the money considering the price and quality products available from competition.

Do not defend your deal like this. You are fine to get the phone if you are willing to pay for it. But all you doing here is like a sale rep that related to ZTE and blindly ignores better phones out there and only say good words for this phone. Other users need to know clearly the shortage of the product especially with a comparison with the products from competition.

According to today's standard, a mid range phone should be better than this model.

Have a look at phones like Zenfone 3, Huawei Nova and Xiaomi Mi4 before making decision.

        • @claud0902: 6 of the 18 deals you've ever posted have less upvotes than this deal, so I'm not sure why you're having a dig at a post/product based on the number of upvotes.

Nothing at this price point rivals the Axon 7 Mini for audio quality - both the headphone output and the stereo speakers. Aluminium build, 5.2 inch 1080p AMOLED screen, 32gb expandable storage, combined with the audio capabilities (which is nearly identical to the Axon 7) for $330. Good phone for the money? If audio is a top priority, I'd say yes. Name a phone that does audio better for $330?

I'm not looking for a phone, I'm happy with my 6P. Stop being so pushy - I didn't ask for you opinion on what my next phone should be. I'm not defending the deal, I'm responding to moronic opinions worded as statement of fact.

Ugly sales rep paid by ZTE period.

          Put your associated tag on!

        • @claud0902: Put your (profanity) associated tag on.

        • @aja12:

Keep defending your poor voting "deal", you paid shill. You should be thankful that at least you got me to reply you in your lonely, no one interested post.

          @aja12:

Those are fine good quality posts however yours are pity, poor and no quality posts, not only this one, but also every post you have through out your whole OZB life.

Really do not know if you have anything to do with this website named OzBargain.

@claud0902: "Really do not know if you have nothing to do with this website named OzBargain."

The quality of your posts is nearly as high as your English skills.

You got to get your eyes checked.

Outstanding grasp of the English language….

        • @aja12:

          Which part?

        • @claud0902: lol, you actually don't see what's wrong? Nevermind.

          @aja12:

Just want to make fun of you however you seems to realize it too late.

Now I know why you failed so much as being a true OzBargainer.

        • @claud0902: If you want to make fun of someone on the internet, best to do it using reasonable grammatical and punctuation skills, or you just come off stupid. You are failing. Horribly. I'm going to stop now, I'm obviously dealing with an idiot.

        • @aja12:

I'm obviously dealing with an idiot.

Omg if you think this way, I have to feel sorry about all the time you have wasted before.

In fact you are the one got depressed thus tried hard to defend. All the methods you employed like digging my old posts or attacking on the grammatical part prove the negative change of your emotion. Did you see I care to waste time to dig your history? But a simple reply would drive you crazy to find issue of my point. This was fun to watch anyway.

          You are failing. Horribly.

So you have to believe in this way. Otherwise you have to shoot yourself of being manipulated so hard by a simple game of words.

      • perfectly adequate

Only if the much better S625 has not been released. Also 3gb is far from adequate, you always get app killed and rebooted in 4gb setup when using chrome and one or two more apps at the same time.

Which devices have you used with 617, 625, and 652 to compare?

Zenfone 3 S625 4/64 is around $400 as normal price.
Moto G4/Oppo with 617 are not comparable.

  • The ASUS ZenFone 3 base model is a better buy at $350, and it has band 28… This doesn't.

    • Probably isn't that clear cut, and depends on what you want. Everyone's different. Axon Mini 7 has a few advantages over the ZenFone 3 - metal build (subjective I guess), Gorilla Glass 4, AMOLED screen, stereo speakers, superior headphone output.

      • Yep, will depend on what you want. The ZenFone 3 is actually HiRes audio certified, if that can be used to compare with axon 7's dac.

Zenfone 3: Better camera (and video too), better cpu, better battery life, better cellular connectivity.
Axon 7 mini: Better speakers and better audio (?), better screen glass. AMOLED is more subjective, at the moment my phone is amoled but I actually do miss LCD's look and feel.

        • -1

No this model has zero advantage compare to zf3. Not every AMOLED screen is comparable with high quailty lcd that zf3 uses.

        • -1

@claud0902: ZF3 has better speaker/s? ZF3 has better headphone output? ZF3 has better build materials and durability? ZF3's Gorilla Glass 3 is more durable than Gorilla Glass 4? OK, I'm done reading your dribble.
