No because they would only drive down laptops made for consumers or ones already with dedicated Gpus.
These are enterprise laptops, not designed for the content/video/photo production teams in mind.
Its for the typical office worker.

        • +1

I find that a decent laptop will always set you back at least $750, and that is usually with a few drawbacks, such as a 1366 x 768 screen or a standard HDD.

        • +3

Also remember this is the kind of laptop you could take a fall down a flight of steps and still end up with a working laptop.

You could also smack somebody over the head with it and make them unconscious but still continue with your uni assignments.

If there ever was a Nokia 3310 equivalent of a laptop, this is it.

    • Here's an idea, buy 3 and sell two for $1250 on eBay and bang, there's my $500 laptop.

      • +2

Don't forget to factor in eBay seller fees and Paypal fees:) $1250 attracts eBay fee of approximately $125 (9.9%) if not mistaken.

        • Those bastards well looks like I'll need to sell it for close to $1400 or put it on Gumtree.

The price in a way makes sense.

The 7th gen CPU's are out and they need to clear 6th gen CPU stock.

As a buyer - Intel Core i5-6200U CPU - We are lucky the 7th gen intel CPU hasn't made much performance difference between these 6th gen CPU's (it's almost negligible, other than clock speed, which is irrelevant because most people look for good battery life, so it is under clocked at that stage anyway). This is still a solid performer and with the overall build quality of the laptop - makes it a great buy. Lucky timing for us as consumers and I suppose lucky for lenovo too, to be able to clear the excess previous gen stock so easily.

  • What would OzBargainers who are wanting to buy a laptop do if we didn't have Lenovo?

    • I waited for dse's monthly 15% off sale on already reduced prices.
Previously imported a computer from the US when the aud was stronger
Amazon is a good source too.

  • Hi guys, I am new to Cashrewards. Can any experienced Ozbargainer please enlighten me on how to get the 7% cash back? Thank you.

Edit: Just watched their introduction video, so basically if I clicked the deal from Cashrewards site and made the purchase, I will earn the cash back of 7%. Is that correct?

    • +1

Make an account, sign in, search for Lenovo, click the 'Go to Store' link and make the purchase in the same tab (to be safe).

The cashback amount will then appear in your account as pending, and will be approved after a certain period of time, allowing for you to withdraw it to your bank account.

Anyone could comment on the battery life of T460s? It seems like it has below average battery life of less than 4hrs based on the reviews online.

    • +1

I use it for my work on a daily basis. With a few applications running, it averages about 5-6 hours. I normally have lotus note, 5-10 Excel workbooks, and my work software running. 50% screen brightness and on 'high performance'. I wouldn't say it is as bad as 3 hours but that's just my experience. I am using a non touch screen version.

      • Thanks for sharing mate. How long roughly do you think it will last for browsing online and watching youtube with 50% screen brightness? Cheers

  • Will this be alright for photoediting on lightroom and photoshop? (i was thinking of upping the ram to 12gb)

    • buy RAM upgrade from MSY after purchase

    • I am also curious about using Photoshop on this laptop (use quite a bit, nothing too complex), considering the lack of a dedicated graphics card.

    • +1

the 6200U may cause some issue for edition despite 12gb ram.

i use a i5 4200m (yes, i know, old CPU, but only marginally worse off than the new power saving cpus) and it's my bottleneck… the 8gb of ram never gets used up by adobe PS.

currently hunting for a lenovo with a full speed mobile processor, and considering the t460p… more expensive than the t460/t460s.

Such a good deal. If you could swing a similar deal for the T460 I'd be all over it - who doesn't want 17hrs battery life….

probably those that prefer a bit of extra portability

Any chance on a deal for the T460, with larger battery?

I am scared off by the lack of good battery life in the s version.

    First Review for ThinkPad T460s - 2/6 Forrible battery life (4hrs) http://www3.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-t-ser…

    Battery life doesnt sound great

    256gig SSD sounds great

I always recommend to store data on USB3 STICK or USB2/3 2.5" external hdd or cloud server
rather then lose stuff on a laptop

Ill keep using my Toshiba Chromebook 2 with 11 hours battery life

    • It is worth mentioning their response:

"Thank you for your feedback. Based on your comments about battery life, we tested several systems and isolated a driver that was unexpectedly consuming excessive battery life. To update this driver to a more battery-friendly version, please follow the instruction below."

      • +1

Someone lower down in the comments section wrote about the effect of updating the driver: "I did update it and only got 15-20 min extra. Go figure."

Any deals for the plain t460?

    • You will have to wait until Ozbargainers buy all of Lenovo's remaining T460s stock :-)

      • Yeah dunno if worth holding out for a potential t460 deal or buy the t460s now :/

  • I have a Thinkpad 13 but for some reason I really want to buy one of these too.

  • +1

I'm thinking of buying this for my son to use at school. It seems to meet the school's recommended specs but I am concerned about the battery life. Are there any other concerns I should consider? I'd appreciate any feedback.
Also, is Accidental Damage Protection available for this (or any other) Lenovo model? I can't seem to find much info on it.

    • +1

I'm also considering this for my child's study during Year's 10 to 12 and am also concerned about battery life.

No option for a 6 cell battery then?

You may be better off going through your home/contents insurance and adding it as a portable item.

  • +2

Was going to purchase this, but after properly reading the reviews on the lenovo site about the battery life. Wasnt worth the risk. Especially after reading the 20% restocking fee for returns and the horrible post sales support.

  • +2

I'm not sure whether or not I should get this or wait and see if a better deal comes out. The battery life is the only thing that is stopping me from buying it instantly.

    • +2

i am in the same boat as you..

      • +2

the same here. really concern about the battery life of it.

        • just buy a heavy laptop then .. or a chromebook

how can you get a 14" laptop with mega battery life and 1kg?

    Any deals on T560?
I hope I am not the only one who wants a good 15.6 inch laptop.

how does this T460 compare to Yoga 460?

    • +2

The Yoga is a convertible with a 360 degree hinge and touch.

It is not light however at 1.8 KG's (that's 300 grams more than this), if you prefer a light but durable laptop you should buy the T series, but if you want a touch display and the ability to convert to a tablet / tent device buy the Yoga.

The Yoga at power savings mode and Wifi on lasts 7 hours, which is a slight improvement over the 6 hours of the T460.

The Yoga also has advantage of the Geforce 940m graphics. It means nothing for business users as they don't game, but for those inclined for some casual gaming will find the Nvidia GPU useful.

      • How is the build quality of the T460s compared to Yoga 460. I already have top spec yoga but the bargain fever is tempting me…. I always dreamed of a T series but not sure it's worth it.

  • What other laptops would you guys recommend that is not more than $1000, durable, and lightweight? It is for mainly for home use but we occasionally bring it outside. Usage includes web browsing, video streaming and Microsoft office. Have been looking at Thinkpads because of its durability and it's excellent keyboard. Have been using Thinkpads for years at work from T430s, T450s and now T460s, and really like the T series. Luckily enough I didn't get the T440s. Although I heard X1 carbon is really good with good battery life too, but T460s at $1000 is tempting.

  • How does this compare to the Thinkpad 13?

  • What is the model number here? I can't find a 'T460s Enterprise' on this list. Also just search T460s Enterprise just returns T460s, nothing about an Enterprise model. Is there a difference? There seems to be a cheaper Ultrabook version. Also, why can't I find Australian retailers with this laptop in store?

    • Also, why can't I find Australian retailers with this laptop in store?

      Because it's a business-grade laptop.
      Not a consumer-class/enterprise laptop.

What is the model number here? I can't find a 'T460s Enterprise' on this lis

      The model is T460s.
It's an enterprise/business-grade laptop, made to be more durable than a consumer-grade laptop.
It's not called "Enterprise", it's typically bought by companies as work laptops.
      Similarly, you don't call a Porsche 911 a "Porsche 911 coupe"..

  • The hinge on my metabox broke but
    I don't need this I don't need this I don't need this

    • get one quick!!

      • I'd rather hold out for an xps 13 and that sweet battery life. I know it's much more but it's worth it

        • yea, they're a bit smaller too, but you'll miss that sweet Lenovo keyboard.

  • Can someone help me with the, Nvidia 930m, cant seem to find that option

    • Try calling them? Honestly if you are after dedicated graphics there are better options though. Dedicated graphics eats the battery, and this only has an M series card which is barely enough for LoL.

  • T460s -i5 ozbargained well done all, showing out of stock
    Web price is $2,249, previously $2,149 …

    • +2

      Still available at this link.
      With TA's provided discount code.

  • That $1000 price tag included taxes didn't it?

  • I had a look at this laptop today in store and compared it to a Dell xps 13. The keyboard on this is vastly superior to the dell. It feels like typing on a standalone keyboard. The dell is slightly lighter and the screen bezel is much thinner. Dell is probably better for media viewing, and of course using it on the go due to it lasting much longer on a single charge. The dell is thinner but I think it has less ports?

This laptop is being sold retail in japan at around $1300 AUD, which is about $200 less than the dell.

For work, unless the long battery life is paramount, the lenovo is clearly the winner as far as comfort goes.

Also looked at a similarly priced yoga, which was fun to flip and use in tablet mode. Probably good for movies in bed.

I'd get the lenovo if I had the money for a work laptop.

Side note: couldn't hear any coil whine from the dell after putting my ears close to the keyboard.

    hey TA,
Any chance for this deal happening again soon?

    • same question here, I missed out on this deal :(

    • I really hope it will come back soon. Desperately need to buy a laptop and holding out for this..

  • Just wondering if those who have received their T460s could provide a little feedback on it please.

I passed on the deal and now I wish I had of grabbed one for my daughter in Year 10, especially after looking at what else is available for a similar cost.

    • Ditto. Need to. Know how battery life nis
