'Construction' Block Range from $3 @ Kmart

550

I know this isn't LEGO but a bargain nonetheless.

Range from the $3 125pc set to the 1064pc megaset for $15 - it's sure to keep you or your kids occupied and not break the bank.

Was at Kmart Rosebud VIC - unsure of nationwide status, but likely.

Looks fun! That's a lot of pieces for $10

Yep! Cheap and cheerful way to kill a few hours or silence the kids on school holidays for a while ;)

I have heaps of fake Lego, but the Kmart stuff… eeewwww… but hey, if its for your kids and they don't care then go for it.

I'm assuming they'll still hurt like hell if you stand on 'em?

    Excellent.

  • Great find. Thanks.

do these blocks work with the 'real' Lego?

    • yes but they may damage your Lego blocks I'm told.

Looking @ your pic, the 1064 piece set appears to be $15.

Yeah sorry you're right! Was in a rush as had kids with me. Amended.

Have purchased one of these sets in the past and from my experience the quality is quite terrible. The peices don't fit together well, meaning the models fall apart easily or don't connect together in the first place. Tears, frustration and disappointment ensue.

Personally i would not recommended at any price.

got the fire station one. made everything for the boys xmas day. went together easy and stayed together as good as other lego toys. wouldnt hesitate to recommend.

Interesting. My experience was with the army set and it was very poor as mentioned. Perhaps i just got a dud set.

        • Judging by all the comments i wonder if i got the only good set ever. I purchased the mega police staion today for the next birthday in march. Im half worried now its going to be bad.

    • When it comes to scoring a bargain - everyone has their price (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)

      I totally agree, dude.
kids get frustrated when the blocks they spend time to build simply fall apart.
also, the minifigs are really simplified, some parts are just torso and head on a 2x2 base!
There's a lot of fake lego out there and this stuff is on the crappier end of things if you need pieces to actually hold together.

Had the same issue! Very poor product. I'm all for bargains, but these are a waste of money

I purchased the police station set a while ago (around 12-14 months ago) and it had the same experience as Smulder.

But still … for the price, it is a bargain.

got the fire station for the boys for xmas. surprised by the quality. was expecting 'average' but got 'good'.

Don't buy the army set. I spent one whole night to build it and it was torturing. It looked good when I opened the box, but when I read the instructions on how to build, I hadn't got a clue what it was saying. Pieces were put in different bags. I need to open all the small packs and find the right pieces for just one helicopter. Lego is much easier to build and less likely to break apart. The instruction manual was written for kids. Lego is definitely worth it.

    • Does the army set have any guns in it for the minifigs?

      • No

        • Lame. How can they call it Army then? Looks like I'll stick to Sluban and Kazi from Ali.

        • @Clear: Enlighten is better….

        • @spy: Military or overall? I find Lepin to be 90%+ quality and accuracy.

We've had the fire station and the police station. In my opinion, the quality just isn't there. They fell apart easily, and both my kids were unimpressed.
I think in this case, you get what you pay for. We won't ever buy them (our sets were given to us).

I'm not really into Lego but I swore off stuff like this when I recently bought one of those The Walking Dead Prison Tower's from The Reject Shop and it was so finicky and difficult to put together took me about 7 hours over two days so never again.

It looks cool as a display piece but the last piece at the top of it won't stay down, oh well.

Bought my 5yr old daughter the fashion show one yesterday for fun, gave her all the pieces and the box and off she went to her room. She came out in about 30min and had done the whole thing, just by looking at the picture on the box, but had pieces left over.

There are only meant to be 2 figurines, but her left over pieces included extra parts for almost a whole other figurine. Anyway, she enjoyed the set and is now making something else from the parts.

    Can't complain

Sounds like your 5yo daughter has more patience and skill than a lot of people commenting here! Glad it all worked out and fun was had :)
