  • EDIT: My mistake. R7000 vs D7000

  • Would this modem give me quicker ADSL2+ speeds than my current small Dodo modem or is it more to do with my actual phone line and distance to the exchange.

    • I am also interested what you are asking. Anyone can help?

It may improve speeds a little bit, but it really isn't worth spending 200 dollars on.

      • I've got the router only version of this. Some of the features may be worth it depending how you feel. It's got a really easy to setup VPN server for instance. And if you flash Tomato or DDWrt on it, it will do all sorts of crazy stuff.

cant flash custom firmware on modems only router versions

@jabroni: doh, right you are… Brainfart.

    • It can be both, best to check out your modem stats in the modems control panel, Google it to find out how. I find a lot of the ISP supplied modem/routers to be absolute junk.

    • I've found a difference of 3Mbit from (about) 11 to 14 between two different modems so it can make a big difference. You would be better off asking on whirlpool. Some modems work better closer to the exchange Anne some are better over longer runs. Also read that broadcom based modems work better if you are connected to an exchange with Broadcom equipment inside.

    • No faster ADSL, but faster wireless if you are moving files around the house or streaming g to tv.
