Boozle.com.au - Any Way to See a Scale for The Price History Graph?

Question as in title - essentially I see the price history graph in boozle and it does help to judge whether the current price is a market low point. However, the graph is without a scale.

Any chance to actually see the lowest historical price over a given timeframe?

If not, is there any site which can do this? Eg a Dan Murphys historical price aggregator?

Cheers,
Ozbj.

Thanks, this helps a little - although price hipster doesn't have always accurate prices (understandable as DM updates many times per day) and also lacks many stores, I can appreciate it is a work in progress.

      Thanks for your input.

When Boozle started many years ago I thought it was genius and would take off but never reached it's full potential. I found it to be hit & miss with the pricing and many products not showing in the search results. Price Hipster is [so far] on the up and does cover more products, but again is not 100% there yet.

No doubt it's a hard nut to crack with websites constantly changing layouts etc; so I take my hat off to the webmasters, but I can't see ever there being a website that accurately monitors every product from every store.

For pricehipster.com Dan Murphy's actually supplies us with the product list. I have contacted them multiple times about them not keeping it up to date but they still haven't fixed it.

We will be working this year to integrate many more liquor (and other) stores. If DM doesn't get their feed sorted we will just remove them until they do and promote deals from the other liquor stores.

        • @jazoom:

          Cheers for the info jaz.

My comment certainly wasn't meant as a dig against pricehipster. The concept really is fantastic, and I look forward to its maturity.

Companies (like my local Coles) do so much price changing that seems deliberately confusing… I can't track the lowest price for everything.

          Looking forward to the future.

        • @ozbjunkie: I didn't take it as a dig. I just wanted to clear up what was going on.

FYI: Dan Murphy's has now been removed from Price Hipster. We will work on making it easy for other liquor stores to join.

See my other comment (I'm the creator of pricehipster.com). I agree we need more liquor stores and that is a goal for this year.

Accurate prices isn't a problem for most stores. We just remove them if they don't keep their prices up to date. So far I have made an exception for DM because we don't have many liquor stores yet. I will probably be removing them soon as they are tarnishing the otherwise accurate pricing of Price Hipster's database.

        • If there was a way for the community to screenshot and amend incorrect listings it might be clearer whether prices are vastly off, or only by a dollar or two.

My research revealed the current price of a case of beer was about $1 off.

If it's close, perhaps it's worth tracking these prices to have a metric to judge other shops.

But then again I understand and applaud your wish to have only completely accurate information on your website.

        • @ozbjunkie: There are millions of products on Price Hipster, with hundreds of thousands of Price changes daily. The only way it will work is if stores keep on top of their own details. Most do. Those that can't don't make it on to pricehipster.com. Those that keep prices up to date are naturally rewarded with traffic to their site, since their products can be shown as good deals by Price Hipster.

        • @jazoom:

          Sounds good.

Dan's aren't always the cheapest anyway, would be great to give the price matching team some work to do.

First choice seems highly competitive on some but not all offerings.

I have a secret fear that after Dan's kills the competition prices will rise.

@ozbjunkie: I will do my best to keep competition healthy. A smaller store has just as much reach on pricehipster.com as a larger store does, so if they have good prices they will be found.

I've used boozle before and also been frustrated by this strange omission. Haven't found a solution.

    • Perhaps an email to customer servive next time I use the service.

They must have the info, so it's strange there's no link for a larger graph with a scale.
