  • Pretty certain the 75 is backlit vs the 55/65. Some info here:

I am pretty sure the 70 is back lit, 65 and 75 edge lit.

        https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2511995&…

"based on the information from here: http://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/f9c46d8

        The 65" is edgelit, 420nits, 8bit+FRC, sRGB colourspace 100%, no 3D
        The 70" is backlit, 330nits, 8bit+FRC, sRGB colourspace 100%, no 3D
        The 75" is backlit, 400nits, 8bit+FRC, DCI P3 colourspace 90%, has 3D"

        • 75" too big for me but is edge lit or back lit better? Deciding between the 65" an 70"

        • +2

          @ladis:
Backlit is meant to be. Edgelit is done for cost effectiveness and local dimming is typically limited to the top, bottom, and middle of the screen. Backlit costs more to manufacture and has the ability to properly dim zones in the display.

I don't have enough experience comparing TV backlights to have a personal opinion on the matter, this is what I've regurgitated from reading reviews.

Thanks to Snuke and Rakerr for finding more info.

        • +1

          This whole conversation is Lit👌

Now could you someone explain to me what back and edge Lit👌 is?

        • haha i'm not sure what happened there. I looked to see where i pulled that info from and i cant find any reference. Is the 75M7000 the same as the 75M7900? I'm confused. I know the 65 is edge lit and the 70 is back lit. but I am unsure around the 75. I may have made a mistake in that post but odds are i had the info from somewhere.

Add a 20% eBay sale and I'm there too.

Nice price, my new bottom line for when I buy from HN in a couple of months 😊

  • No HDR at all ?

  • +4

The 70/75 are sharp fald screens.. Black's are very good… Colour needs some fine tuning but other then that great screen…

Software is bad.. Getting updates is useless through Hisense.. Firmware between 55/65/70/75 models are not compatible..

Browser is crap if you are going to stream video in browser- loading issues and advertisements will not get things playing. They need a different browser.

Netflix and YouTube apps are good.

    • Good to hear re Netflix.

    • Also the reds need alot of tuning, agree on the software long boot times and slow performance when using the smart software, but otherwise great bang for your buck !

  • Link says its a 3D tv but I'm pretty certain it's not… If it is, what type?

    • Link says shutter glasses required over Bluetooth.
So I'm guessing its an active 3d tv

      • Interesting yeah the specs on the Hisense site say it comes with a pair of BT glasses.
        Thanks

  • Is this the lowest ever been?

Price premium over the 65" is high but worth the save for me if good value.

Looking for a large 4k hdr over 65"

  • The 75M7000UWG was on the low $2K special a while back - I set one up for a friend, Great TV! Not sure about the 75M7000UW(D) Model at the more expensive price - I thought the D was a lesser quality unit. Thoughts appreciated.

    • +1

      I think you'll find your friend's was a 70 inch 70M7000UWG - https://hisense.com.au/product/70-uled-tv-series-7/

    • Scotch, Do you have a link to this? the 70 inch lowest price ever was around $2225, I believe this $2795 price is the lowest i have seen for the 75m7000. Do you know what shop he brought it from? I assume it was a 70 your friend bought like carlenet.

    • Ahhh. You guys are right, it was the JB Sale I think at around $2200 and it was the 70" - Cheers.

  • Friend of mine bought one of these for $3k on special around xmas time. Great TV for the price especially if you need the screen real estate. I like my KS8000 more but then it's nearly a couple of grand more expensive. I've never seen this TV for sale for $2k! It's that's true then that's one hell of a deal!!

I've really been put off the bigger names due to their poor warranty terms. 12 months is not enough for such a large investment. Yet in my industry, Solar inverters that cost as little as $400 are given 5-10 year warranty's and they operate every day outside in the heat. Go figure.

  • My company offers 6% off at the Good Guys with gift cards.

    ORDER TOTAL$2,632.00 for a $2800 GC.

I wish there was a way for me to pass these savings onto people :(

    • +2

I get 5% (with a 1% processing fee is its more like 4.5%) and I can pass it on.

  • Eveeytime when I see a cheap tv on the forums it's to late and sold out within hours, why is this still in stock?

    • +8

coz this is a 2.7k TV.

    • +2

Plus not everyone have space for this big TV

    • Brand?

    • +1

Because not everyone has space for a 75inch tv orrrrr if you're like me you'd also need to buy bigger furniture so it's not on the floor (in before replies about wall mounting, it's not an option for me).

  • Samsung is nearly around the same price $2895. Any major difference between samsung and Hisense apart from 3D?

    • The samsung is only series 6.

    • +3

Warranty, Hisense comes with 3yr, Samsung 1yr

      • +3

My 2008 Samsung developed lines a week after warranty expired.

        Go the better warranty IMO

My Samsung plasma developed power issues last month.. 3 years after I purchased it.. They could not supply the part to fix it and replaced the TV for free. gave me the Ks9000.

        • @ode1: They have the option to repair, replace or refund a pro-rata amount based on the age of the item. A 3 year old plasma wouldn't be worth much now so I don't see why they would replace it with a $2.5K Tv. If they did, congrats you are super lucky!

        • +1

@shamona1: They offered the replacement or a full refund (credit) at Harvey norman. When they advised it was a replacement , my fears was a refurb but they said NO its BRAND NEW. They sent it out with the same repairers who collected my plasma and they set it up for me,. they referred to the law and there responsibility etc.

If you have visited a retailer for a remedy please responds to this SMS as soon as possible and we will have the exchange cancelled. **

and what's even more amazing that they said this NEW TV had a 12month warranty and the same rules applied. I was impressed.

        • This is Australia we have consumer rights(specifically states, 'reasonable amount of time'), none of that matters. they can't enforce small warranties. Who the hell buys a tv and only expects 2 -3 years out of it. I want at least 5 years if I'm spending this much money on it. I had a Samsung tv fail after 3 years and I got a replacement no problems by citing our consumer law. As long as it is a manufacturer fault and not yours, they have to.

        • @shamona1: they don't have the choice, you have the choice.

"You can ask a business for your preference of a free repair, replacement or refund"

Directly from the ACCC website. It's your choice, not theirs.

        • @ONEMariachi:

Not sure I'd qualify. TV still works fine just has two lines either side and they go away slightly after it's been on for a while.

          9 years old. Not bad.

OP How do you figure you get 1.3% cashback via Cash Rewards

If you buy via EBAY you do - but not if you buy via the Good Guys web site - which is what your link points to…

  • I went and had look. Seems good. I'm baffled as to how I can wall mount this TV. There doesn't seem to be the standard VESA mounts. Anyone have this model who can clarify? The staff had no idea and were equally baffled.

  • -2

I have my doubts about this TV. There is something wrong with the screen boundaries as you can see one of the kangaroos is slipping off the screen and making it’s own way off to who knows where. This wouldn’t auger well if you were watching, say, “Thelma and Louise” and as they drove along they fell right off the screen. I mean, how can you make a movie and then when you show it half of the characters are somewhere else?

    • +8

      I'll have what he's having.

    • If only the HC subs on movies would drop off the planet too.

what OS does hisense use and is it any good?

  • Jacobs Creek Sauvignon Blanc. And that's not the OS.

About what I paid for my Sony (KD75X8500C) over a year ago.

  • But it's Hisense? They reliable for TV?

    • I remember when people said that about Samsung..

    • +1

they're starting to do alright now. they started with cheap and nasty a few years back, but their panels seem to be getting better. TBH though, at this kind of money I'm personally reluctant to trust them yet. I'm sticking with Sony/Samsung/LG myself

  • Our local Good guys did not have this TV in stock. Managed to get JB hi Fi to price match. Thanks for sharing OP!

This is like buying two iPad pros lol wut

    • Harvey Norman will do $2749 if you twist their arm.

      • Is that $2749 including delivery?

        • No delivery is on top of the $2749 - or you can pickup from store.

The box is LARGE so delivery is my preferred approach.

To be fair to HN, $2749 is the lowest non-delivered price I have seen - and all of the other prices quoted above dont include delivery either.

Domayne want $150 to deliver to post code 2315 = tell them they are dreaming.

HN standard delivery fee is $75 on their web site - they would reduce it in store for me to $49

$2749 + $49 delivery works out cheaper than paying $2795 + delivery on EBAY at the Good Guys - even taking into account 1.3% cash rewards.

        • Got my set from Harvey but would not go lower then $2795 as he said only few left and below what he can do it for already.

  • any great 55inch deals a]out there?

  • Is this version better than the 70" or 65" in terms of PQ/lighting etc and not just size? I've heard reports that it has different zoning ?

    Thanks

  • I've pulled the trigger at $2749 + $49 delivery from Harvey Norman.

I was contemplating picking it up myself, but after trying to move my old 60" around the house I've decided that trying to move a 75" by myself would be stupid and likely end in tears.

    • Can i confirm that i've tried to move around my 60" (ALONE) and I almost snapped my back. Definitely will be paying for delivery…

    • I had to bring my 65" home and set it up on Monday by myself. It was a struggle.

  • …… yea i think i'm willing to buy a case of beer for whoever can set up the 75" alone and record it as proof LOLLLLLLL

nah dont. dont want to be responsible for any deaths.

  • Guys a couple of points having owned the TV for a week:

    • the feet at the base of the TV are at the extreme ends of the screen. So unless you are wall mounting it, your entertainment unit/TV stand must be at least 160cm wide. I got caught out by this as my Samsung 60" which this replaced had a stand in the centre of the screen. Have had to buy a new entertainment unit as well as new TV!

    • There are 4 HDMI ports at the back. 2 the input is perpendicular to the screen. 2 the input is parallel. Only the 2 perpendicular ports support 3840x2160 @ 60hz. The parallel HDMI ports only support 3840x2160 @ 30hz. Without knowing the technical reason for this my guess is that the 2 perpendicular ports are HDMI 2.xx whereas the parallel ones are only HDMI 1.xx.
In a modern TV I dont understand why they dont make all the HDMI support 3840x2160 @ 60hz as a minimum?

    • TV weighs close to 50kg and is unmanagably large and heavy for most normal people to move around by themselves - its a 2 man job at my place.

TV is good. Well worth the $2749 I paid.

Harvey Norman refunded my shipping fee of $49 because within a week of my purchase they had a "Super Saturday" that offered free delivery and installation of big TV's. They refunded under their 7 day price guarantee policy.

    • The Quick Setup Guide provided covers the HDMI information

      60 Hz (640×480, 800×600, 1024×768)
      60 Hz (480 I, 480 P, 720 P, 1080 I, 1080 P)
      50 Hz (576 I, 576 P, 720 P, 1080 I, 1080 P)
      24 Hz 30 Hz (3840×2160 HDMI 1,2)
      24 Hz 30 Hz 50 Hz 60 Hz (3840×2160 HDMI 3,4)

Annoyingly, it seems ARC is only for HDMI port 2.

  • I would also add the box is supposed to include a pair of 3d glasses. I didnt seem to get them – not sure if the delivery guy missed them or what, but will have to contact Harvey Norman tomorrow about that.

    • Went to Harvey Norman - the delivery guy produced the glasses from their storage shed - curious he didnt call me sometime in the last week to come and pick them up….

  • New lower price now. Just walked out of Harvey Norman $250 up. Got them to refund the difference without question asked. Website says 7 days but thought I try my luck and it paid off. Over heard him say something about within 14 days.
