Nier Automata (Pre-Order) PS4 - £33.03 Delivered (~AU $53.73) + More @ Base.com

70

Saw this in an email Base.com sent out last night, part of their "Half Term Games Clearance".

The price for Nier Automata is actually listed at £37.85, but as always with Base.com, make an account and set your postage details and it will remove VAT at checkout for the final price, which is £33.03 delivered (~AU$53.73).

It was listed higher a few days earlier (£40+) so it's a decent pre-order deal, and you probably won't find it cheaper locally.

  • base.com sell PAL region stuff yeah?

    • Yep, but it doesn't matter anyway. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are region-free, which means retail games purchased anywhere around the world can be played in any console in any country.

      • +3

DLC is not region free people always seem to forget this.

        • Ah yes, my mistake. In that case, I always advise just buying the inevitable GOTY edition.

        • +1

AU and EU share the same region for DLC though. So you can buy the game from Base (PAL EU) and buy the DLC on the AU PSN and it'll work. It won't work with the US region obviously as they aren't PAL.

        • @Yuri Lowell:

I use a US account, which is why I asked :)

        • @Yuri Lowell: This wasn't the case for me with Rocksmith on PS3. I bought the EU version from OzGameShop and none of the DLC I bought worked. Judging from your comment I guess that's no longer true with the current gen?

        • @Lafrin: I've never had that issue and that includes current generation. Maybe Rocksmith is different though. All the codes I get from my EU copies as well as DLC have worked on my AU PSN.

After looking at Demos and gameplay, this game seems a bit average to meh to be be honest, and even if its coming to the Switch, i dont think the quality will go up unfortunately before Western release.

Getting a real average Squaresoft vibe too unfortunately.

Im a huge Platinum fan, but i have to be honest its not looking to flash at the moment. Critics will praise it regardless due to the aesthetic and to pander to certain audiences, those that love to enjoy Japanese games for the sake of being from Japan or Japanese and anime groups etc. Reviewers cant be trusted. I could be wrong about the quality, And I hope I am, but it just feels average to below average from what ive seen. Predecessor wasnt too flash either.

Platinum has some very good games, Bayonetta 2 a little overrated, but Bayonetta, Star Fox Zero, Star Fox Guard, Madworld, Wonderful 101, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Vanquish were awesome,

but then there are meh ish games like Legend of Korra, Anarchy Reigns, Transformers Devastation also… Plus Scalebound went bye bye.

Hopefully a Bayonetta 3, Wonderful 101 2, the TMNT or a MadWorld 2 really hits it out of the park for them. I think Scalebound could have been something special.

    • People aren't excited that Platinum are helping develop this game, people are excited that it is a sequel to Nier.
The original had boring combat and graphics but amazing everything else. This is easily represented in the games sales and reviews.
The fact that Platinum are doing the combat is really just the icing on the cake.
Nier is truly a cult hit, and I can see this entering the same field.

Nah nobody really liked Nier much at all, dont recall original selling and reviewers are generally dishonest,

Im talking mostly about this game though…

It could be okay, but honestly, based on everything shown, for a Platinum title it really screams below average like Anarchy Reigns,
        which pains me to acknowledge.

I am hoping for other titles from them in the future that are a bit stronger.

        • What ever you say buddy.

          @Zidago:
Its all good, maybe it will be better at launch, fingers crossed theres more to the game then shown.
Video games not that important anyway, save some money for Horizon Zero Dawn.

  • how does preordering work with these sites, when will they ship it out?

as in when will i get it if i order it from them

    • On day of release unless otherwise specified. They will email you with confirmation and expected delivery.

Past experience with ordering non pre-order games took about a week and bit.

Edit: Mods can you change my associated tag? Accidentally clicked it and it won't let me remove.

Mods: Sure, fixed (please use report button in future).

      • i see, thanks for info

  • The last time I ordered from Base, it took about 2 weeks to arrive.
