      I've tried both as we have one in each house. The HL2140 brother is better imo as your paper is hidden in the printer, as with the Samsung it juts out (if that makes sense).

    Takes the same toner as the previous 1640 model, these are good machines i have the 1640 and the 2240 very small queit and reliable printer, even the half toner thats is supplied last ages

    I buy a new one when the toner runs out , beats buying a new toner for $80.00 +

    Whats the delivery charge ?

      Even though the toner looks expensive. On a cost per page is is cheaper to buy the toner than a new printer

        For my Samsung ML-1610, I just bought a bottle of toner for $10 and refilled it. No fuss.
        Are the current model Samsungs just as easy to refill?

          I dont know however i do know that some of the Samsung toners come with a drum as part of the replacement. After a while of filling the toner the drum will start to wear and provide poor results.

          You will save money by filling it yourself though!

    fyi…had a choice of Brother vs Samsung last time I went to OW, the guy there (very credible) said they had more Samsung returns than Brother equivalent…none the less, this is pretty cheap with free delivery…

        for me, i have been using the Brother for years with no probs, so i decided to stick with what i know…yes inkjets are a disaster, time & money hungry…

    i get a 3000 cartridge off ebay for 50 bux delivered for my ml 1640. inkstation has replacements as well, but they say they dont work with models newer than september 09. mine is dec 09 and the ones from ebay work great. yyuda i think is the store name where i get em.

      Are those cartidges compatible with the 1660 though? I know they use the same as stated above, but i know in my current epson the compatibles were rejected and detected as fakes

            @eug: You got one which was reserved for someone else who's paypal wasnt verified , ie when placing an order if paypal hasnt been verified they will cancel your order. Kind of confusing when it is sold out but keeps being available later on, personally that makes it more fun lol
