Just FYI, did you just setup the website?

The link at the top says Hep Center (I assume it's supposed to be Help), and a lot of the links throughout the site link to # instead of an actual page.

Also, where are your servers hosted? Is there any uptime guarentee?

Also affiliates is spelt afflifiates :)

  • $2.95 per month?

  • Maybe the onus should be placed on REPS to PROVE their "bargain" is actually a real bargain.

  • Hi Miccas,

    Thanks for your post.

We have actually just started to re-edit the site. It was rather stale - but i believe our design team is working on it through the evening.

We have actually been around for a while now - up until now we haven't been able to provide an unlimited plan. We now can. Prior to this - we had our own dedicated servers in the USA, Europe and Australia servicing our corporate clients.

    Uptime guarantee is 99.9%.

Our data centre is located in the USA.
We have the facility to set up customers in Australian data centres - but that is costly for the average website owner.

  • I'm still abit skeptical. I'll wait for further questions and replies.

  • what's your ABN?

  • Do you guys actually register .com.au domains? I tried to check the availability of a dozen .com.au domain names on your site but your site indicates that they are all "unavailable".

Do you mean they are simply not available through you guys or they are already snapped up by someone? If it is the former, I find that the way your domain registration page is set up somewhat misleading.

    • I think Aus .com.au domains are restricted to businesses and organisations… individuals can only register for .id.au :(

      • Indeed. But that does not excuse the fact they try to convince people that desired .com.au domains are unavailable (but in fact are available) & then lure people to register with other domain suffix that they can register.

  • Hi rep:
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have a special offer for domains only — I'd like to get a cheap .com.au or .id.au domain :)

I think this deal $2.95 is pretty good but at the moment I'm only looking for a domain.

  • irdeto,

I'm assuming the free domain is only for the first year?

As the free domain name is part of the special, I think you need to clarify this.

Also, the $2.95 offer is a monthly pricing, and you only have the option to pay a year up front. So I've updated the price to the yearly price.

  • Is that $2.95 per month or per year.
If it's per month then its an okay bargain, if it's per year then i'll take 5 :P

edit: lol, mod edited just as I posted this

  • Domain Name Status More Info
    testejsdsfadfafaf.com.au Unavailable

    • Free Domain Registration applies to the following extensions only: .com,.net,.org,.biz,

^— i dont think they do .com.au as free :P

    • In fact I clicked the "domain registration" page, which charges like $9 per year or something for the available .com etc domains. I have yet to try to access the free domain registration + webhosting deal. But I am less inclined now having seen how the "domain registration" page is set up.

  • "All files over 10MB must be linked from files within the same account and also publically available through any domain name attached to your account. Large files (files over 10MB) should not take up more than 40% of the data on your hosting account."

    "User may not:
Use 25% or more of system resources for longer than 90 seconds. There are numerous activities that could cause such problems; these include: CGI scripts, FTP, PHP, HTTP, etc.
Run stand-alone, unattended server-side processes at any point in time on the server. This includes any and all daemons, such as IRCD.
Run any type of web spider or indexer (including Google Cash / AdSpy) on shared servers.
Run any software that interfaces with an IRC (Internet Relay Chat) network.
Run any bit torrent application, tracker, or client. You may link to legal torrents off-site, but may not host or store them on our shared servers.
    Participate in any file-sharing/peer-to-peer activities
Run any gaming servers such as counter-strike, half-life, battlefield1942, etc
Run cron entries with intervals of less than 15 minutes"

Some of these were not expected and mean I won't be signing up (running a game server for example).

    • Some of these were not expected and mean I won’t be signing up (running a game server for example).

This is a web hosting package. Not a VPS

      • The gaming server is for a web-based game that would be hosted on the domain. I can't tell from the wording whether that is included in the exceptions.
I don't like things that say unlimited and hide low limits. Files over 10MB can't be more than 40% of the data? Can't use more than 25% of resources for 90 seconds? So hard to track! I wouldn't know if I'm exceeding these limits. I prefer to be given a quota of CPU speed (eg. if it's a 2.8GHz core, 25% would be 700MHz) and hard drive space (eg. 5GB). Rather than worry about w% over x seconds and yMB more than z%.

        • Files over 10MB can’t be more than 40% of the data? Can’t use more than 25% of resources for 90 seconds? So hard to track! I

That is normal for any shared service (many people per server) web host.

I prefer to be given a quota of CPU speed (eg. if it’s a 2.8GHz core, 25% would be 700MHz)

I think if you want conditions like that you will need to look at a VPS which will cost more.

The gaming server is for a web-based game

Thats completely different to a "gaming server" mentioned in the terms and conditions.
A flash game on a web page does not mean it is a gaming server

  • They spelt "create" without an 'e' in the end and "help center" the american way on the front page… what?

    • I wouldn't trust a site that has simple spelling mistakes and furthermore having a design team working on the website overnight while trying to promote the "deal" is very skeptical. What you pay is what you get!

  • $3 a month isnt to special :(

    • "Unlimited" aka 'over-subscribing' gets you 'more than you bargained for' too.

    • Can you recommend somewhere else as I am looking for some "cheap" web hosting.

  • -1

    wow.

    people complain alot haha!

you get given a cheap deal..a SALE, what more could you ask for?

    anyways..good pricing :)

  • Seems every possible .com.au domain is taken lol

    • i disagree.

i just had a look and seems fine to me..

maybe whatever your searching is already taken :)

  • Too bad the coupon code is expired. Missed this deal.

  • How do you track the usage % of what you've got hosted?
I currently have photo galleries hosted and I know sometimes they take some processing power as one of them is over 70,000 images. My current (US-based) host has no problems with it, so I'm reluctant to change if it's going to require constant monitoring etc. Then I guess, what do you expect for $2.95/month?

  • We are going to put our money where our mouth is.
