I just noticed this while looking at my points transactions in the Cinebuzz page. So I am aware that there is this bargain going on now which is earn double points for movies that you watch until the end of August:

Anyway, just pick a movie that you want to see and pick the session you intend to watch, and free tickets should now cost 50 points and not 100 points. I have no idea when it expires, but maybe an educated guess could be when the double points offer ends (end of this month, link posted above). Make sure you are logged into Cinebuzz.

To put this into perspective, combining this with the double points offer currently on, that basically means every 2.5 movies you watch earns you a free movie!

And something that I did not know until recently, and since we're on the topic I think I should mention this. Cinebuzz points expire 2 years after you acquire them. I only got Cinebuzz because I thought points didn't expire. I don't watch movies regularly. Luckily it's been less than 2 years (but almost) since I joined, so I'll have to use up my almost 200 points soon!!

      the old deal was for double points per movie earned - this deal is for half point to REDEEM a movie. Tut tut Cripto, need some glasses? :P

    To clarify:

    • Each movie you watch in August is 20 points.
    • You can buy tickets online with only 50 points.
    • Therefore, it is only 2.5 movies for each free ticket.

    When I go to My Rewards page, it says I have 60 points, and 50 points for a movie.
    But when I am on the main payment screen I see no link for cinebuzz points cash in etc

    anyone else have this problem

        if you book online you can enter your own card number(s) to get points, and it'll even show up in a history log with the last 10 movies you booked online

    Just checked my CineBuzz account, and looks to be working to me.
    Clicked on 'My Rewards' button.
    Under the rewards section (on my account at least) is a reward listed as:

           Rewards                                  Points Required         Redeem  
       50 points gives you a free ticket             50.00            Buy Tickets

    Also, at the top of the page it says:
    "Here are your current rewards for the week beginning 6/08/2010"

    so the offer may expire after this week, or it may keep going for a while.

      I has the same list as above but after I click "Buy Tickets" it takes me to normal transaction page. I selected a seat and it still have price $17.50 coming up. Did I miss something?

      yes you can redeem a free ticket at the box office. and you miss out on the BS $1 booking fee as well.

    I realise that there actually may be a bit of an opportunity cost with this deal in that, either you'd want to get a free movie for 50 points, or you'd want to pay for a ticket (whether with a voucher or just pay the full amount - as far as I know vouchers get you Cinebuzz) and get 20 points for a movie.

    Assuming both these offers end at the same time, with each movie you pay for, you miss the chance of being able to redeem a ticket for 50 points. With each movie you redeem for 50 points, you miss the chance to earn 20 points for that one movie.

    This of course wouldn't be an issue if you have less than 50 points…

    Some people seem to be having problems redeeming their points for tickets, I have had a bit of experience with the cinebuzz website and to say its dodgy at best is an understatement anyhow I digress, what I suspect is happening is that while only 50 points are currently needed to redeem a movie because you usually need 100 the system is not allowing you to redeem until you get to 100 then you may use 50 of those to get a free movie. Logical? not really but thats cinebuzz for you :)

      i remember them having this about a year ago, and i was able to use 50 of my 70 points to watch a movie, but yep this time, i click on book ticket, i get normal screen with full prices… =(

    Looks like they've fixed the problem!

    I have 60 points and when I go to buy a ticket, there's a blue box that says -
    Cine Buzz 50 points FREE TICKET:
    Please bring your card when collecting your tickets Hello <user>.
