Not wasting my time on this one..
Someone's gonna have to take screenshots of their t&C , they'll probably change the voucher to *can only be used on orders of $50 or more..

    • +1

Sure you wont get the whole voucher value, but you'll save a few bucks atleast if your after, say a tf card or something cheap.

  • SO at the moment this deal is not active ??

    • ATM, they will definitely release at least a $10 voucher at 9pm as they have the required number of 200 likes. if they get another 1300 until 8pm, they will release a $20 voucher instead. yesterday they released a $5 voucher and it was very easy to claim, not like the first time. see here: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/29379

  • wellthis is what i am going to do.Find something i like. Make a note of its price and shipping and also take a screenshot. When they release the voucher i will c again.

So i've decided to buy this kingston 4gb data traveller

    http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/p_7087_Kingston_4GB_DataTra…

current price 12.95 plus 5.99 shipping to sydney. Fingers crossed prices stay the same.

You'd have to be nuts buying from this store especially if something goes wrong.

I tried cancelling an order a few weeks ago, they initially said yeh sure, nothing happened then the speakers arrived on the doorstep. I attempted to contact them again and despite being told the order was cancelled and I would get a refund minus a 10% restocking fee now I have to pay to have the item returned and get a refund minius 10% minus approx $40 shipping. Im off to court now…..taking the matter to the fare trade tribunal…..The powers that be admitted it was a trainees fault this happened however the customer pays….That's it blame their eff up on a trainee yet you pay!!!!!!

AVOID SHOPPING SQUARE LIKE THE PLAGUE>>>>AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE

      Hi markybee,

I found your case, it seem something go wrong. Someone will contact to you on phone tomorrow to solve it out.

      • You're a store rep for shopping square but you have voted positive to dozens of shopping square deals. Is that allowed? It doesn't seem to be..

"If you are associated with the Deal or company DONT VOTE. Friend, Family, employees, shareholders, media relations, developers, contractor, affiliate etc In other words you are independent from the company or deal. All infractions will lead to a ban and post being revoked. "

Isn't this sort of competition a breach of the facebook terms of service?

    Edit: Aaah
Section 4. Publicizing a Promotion on Facebook
4.2 In the rules of the promotion, or otherwise, you will not condition entry to the promotion upon taking any action on Facebook, for example, updating a status, posting on a profile or Page, or uploading a photo. You may, however, condition entry to the promotion upon becoming a fan of a Page.

So it sounds like you can actually hold these sorts of promotions now.

  • This is against ozbargain rules too. See what happened to logitechshp when they tried to pull this. ozbargain only allows bargains to be advertised when they are active. last time logitechshop did something like this there was a huge backslash too because it was seen to be bribing for likes.

Do you mind posting a link. I do agree with you, but I see it as very similar to simply signing up to a mailing list to score a $10 (possibly $20) voucher. I know there was a bit of controversy with SS's last $20 voucher, but in the end I got it and got my $20 off, so I was pretty happy with that.

      • For which part of what I wrote?

This is from the posting guidelines about non-active deals: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:deal_posting_guideline…

Group Buy Deals where Deal is not Active

Group buy sites such as Ouffer & Scoopon sell their items after reaching a certain number of people who agree to buy their items. Only deals that are active are allowed to be posted on Ozbargain.

Also I don't think hitting like gives you a coupon. It's only after 200 likes that they will make it possible to get a coupon, like the last time they did something like this. First come (hitting like) isnt first served. You will probably remember as well that when they first advertised that offer they didnt give out any terms and conditions. Only that you would get a voucher. then later on they added in that you had to spend x amount in order to use it.

    • The deal is active. You are guaranteed to receive the $10 voucher and have the opportunity to get a $20 voucher if you have a facebook account and hit like on the provided link.

      • Good point.

      • -1

Then the offer here should be for the voucher not for the bribe. When this was posted here it wasnt an active deal.

      • -5

I never got the voucher for the 1st scam.

        • -3

same here SS should be blacklisted on OB

        • +2

Got mine - did you follow the instructions to claim it?

          • -1

@NimitzHarrington: I followed them to the letter, then they changed the instructions at the last minute when the scam finished. This was the original $20 voucher scam they ran.

      • Which like that we should hit? The wall post?

    • +1

Looks like your only objection was for this to be posted on OB. The competition is being held in Facebook. I don't see it being the same as the Logitechshop ones, where the deals were directly posted on OB.

Perhaps Facebook competitions should be posted in the forums instead then?

      • I disagree with inactive deals being here. OB is for deals that are definitely happening or will happen. Not for things that ozbargain members have to do for the store first before they might possibly be able to get it. I gave this deal a neg like I would have done for dupe, spam and sockpuppet posts. In previous instances where inactive deals have been posted up the mods have been swift in removing them.

  • So what should we do to get the $10 voucher???

  • +3

all you have to do is "like" the top comment, its 265 atm, so its active.

  • +2

this is basically crap, the postage fee's are so high for items and anything that the voucher actually reduces the price on are all sold out…everything else with postage is far too expensive which makes this not a bargain in the slightest

  • It also cancels out yesterdays $5 voucher, since the prices/shipping will now reflect the $10 voucher being available.

  • Looks like there's divided opinion on this one…

  • Just got my $10 voucher.

  • One hour window to claim…

    • -1

wow, lame. Im voting neg for the same reason, 1hr to claim :(

      • +1

I think from the last time shopping square ran something similar to this we should have known that this deal does not belong here. Getting the voucher and making the voucher available are 2 completely separate things. Voting like or whatever it is shopping square wants us to do does not guarantee the individual gets the reward. That is why I keep saying this does not belong here. This deal should only have been posted up after it became active and you could directly claim the 'bargain'.

  • not much use for the 10 dollars :(
other site provide cheaper or same value to the after 10 dollars discounted value (shipping kills the 10 dollars as well)

go www.mymemory.co.uk for better deal ….. for computer memory stuff?

  • $6.95 to send a MicroSD card???
Last time I checked they fit in a standard envelope. And this is completely typical.

When are the going to stopped the freaking shipping RIP???

    • They even charge $9.99 for postage (to Sydney) of Sandisc micro SD card

  • with this voucher, this - http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/p_3430_SanDisk_microSDHC_8G… - is a very good deal
