  • Is this the lowest it's ever been after cashback?! I feel like it's getting close.

  • Hmm. These for $393.30, or the Sony MDR-1000X for $531?

Got the Sony on Saturday. They're a lot better than the QC35 in my opinion because of the ambient settings. Very handy

care to go into more detail on this, I was about to get the QC35's?

As far as I see, Sony is not so popular in Australia. But I like MDR-1000x and bought it several months ago.

Cannot describe how much I love it.

So what's so special about these compare to Bose? I really don't like support from Sony based on their history with Sony Vaio and dropping support for previous model when they release something new.

          @nightelves:

People have mentioned that they're not as comfortable, and they could be correct as the leatherette material can get warm compared to Bose's. But that's probably it. I've had them on for a few hours today and it's 32 degrees where I am and it's fine for me, although I am in an airconditioned office.

Sound quality is much more natural, better so if you have a Sony phone that has support for their LDAC. I can appreciate why people like Bose's sound, but it is the same across their productions and I am not a fan. Always felt they go for the biggest oomph and sharpest treble which is offputting for me.

But best of all are the additional functions. Ambient mode is ideal for my use when I am walking around town or in the office as I can still hear what is going around. But if I want to stop that, I can turn NC on.

Can even turn it off and just use it as a Bluetooth headset, although not sure why.

I like the volume, media/call functions on the side pad, too.

That being said, not sure if they're worth the extra for others, as the noise cancelling ability is supposedly on par, if not a little better.

I chose them because of the functions, better SQ and the fact that I was able to get them far below cost.

I was able to get them far below cost.

          How? And for what price?

        • @Baebs:

Friend surprised me when they said they could get it for well under $400.

It's all legit and above board, too. I just don't want to go into a lot of detail.

        • @Baebs: Probably Sony X members

        • @rorymeister:

Do the Sony's offer noise cancellation or something similar?

        • @pharcyde:

          Yep. Reportedly better NC, too

        • @nightelves:

"Though we are discontinuing the sale of PCs, we will continue to offer after-sales support for all Sony branded VAIO PCs in accordance with local laws, regulations and warranty policies."

quoted from Sony AU official website. Are you sure they dropped support for previous model? Isn't it illegal if it is true?

Well I am not familiar with the laws here(moved here 2 years ago), but I guess it should be part of legal enforcement.

        • @nightelves:

One feature that I love most is 'Quick Attention' mode.

I can easily talk to my wife while using MDR-1000x, just place your hand over the housing and you would hear others' voice even more clearly.

But anyway, I must say I have been a fan of SONY for more than 20 years, and I like Bose as well, just not as much as SONY. :D

        • @rorymeister: what price, can i get them

  • Anyone upgrading want to sell me their qc25's?

    • I may upgrade, if my rarely used/like new qc25 fetches a good price in market

    • Same here I'm interested in copping a pair of qc25s :)

    • But since it's OzB I don't see myself getting much $$$ for it.

  • Still quite expensive…for half the price maybe I should just buy the AirPods?

  • Local seller, not grey imports, the also provide tax invoice with GST
Anyone know if you can claim TRS on these?

  • got one of those in Bose store in Sydney DFO homebush for $299, repackaged with new carboard box(not original box). They said they are not refurbished but just damaged box, tested working with 1 year warrenty(same as full priced ones).
