Great price. I actually got USD$613 ($668) though for MEL to LAX which is cheaper than what you state.

When I got to the itinerary screen, it said I had to use a US based credit card to book.

Did you try booking with your PayPal account?
Also, I don't know why this is listed as expired, as the code still works.
