hopshopgo.com

*apologies for the image sizes and mods will edit if needed :)

So I see this advertised on the Today Show (Ch9) this morning and cant say I have heard of it before.
Anyway here is the explanation from the site below.
With the dollar at as high as it is there may be some nice bargains to be had.
Only thing I am not sure of is the shipping charges that will no doubt kill off any savings on your purchase.
Edit: shipping charges http://www.hopshopgo.com/hsg/help-rates-shipping.do?l=en&c=A…
Anyone here actually used it before and have any comments on it??

  • No experience with them myself, seems like a great idea in theory, but I worry about warranty claims….would like to hear other's experiences though =D

  • There are already many services like this. Shipto and priceusa come to mind. The main issue is that USPS is very expensive, and therefore buying anything from the us negates cost savings soley based on savings. (usually)

EDIT: there is a huge thread on whirlpool about priceusa, seems to be the popular choice

  • i ordered with these guys because i saw it on news.com.au.

They are owned by paypal/ebay so i'm sure it will be fine.
Plus they have an introductory special of 2kg free first delivery

  • Not that price competitive and nothing new. Can't seem to find their 'Buy for Me' fee. Probably 10%, same as comgateway.

Plus, its run by comGateway. Not exactly the best rep for shipping services. They are very hit and miss, including inflated shipping dimensions and crap repacking options.

  • i just opened my account, and less than 10 minutes later - closed my account.

You dont know if you're the first 3000 customers, until after you have agreed to the purchase. Not very clear in their T&Cs. For my purchases price usa seems to be the better deal

  • ah I didnt read that fine print re first 3000.
I've signed up but not sure if I will use it as I have a contact who can send me stuff anyway.
But it might come in handy one day.
I am assuming that it is a reasonably new set up having never heard of it before.

USPS is pretty expensive and their rates are more than what hopshopgo.com are quoting.
And I think hopshopgo are using DHL/UPS?

I've also read a bit about priceusa on WP and at that time there was a few unhappy customers.
Should probably check them out again if I ever need the service.
