    Can they spare it…

Is this some sort of a sick joke, Optus?

  • +1

cool, a few extra hours of data

    • +9

Hours? wow you don't use much data

      • Literally four songs.

        • +1

Have you seen the link? Its popdanthology.
Also your picture is an oxymoron it needs more jpeg.

        • +4

What is this, a bargain for ants?

        • +1

Your songs are 25MB each??!! :O I think your being bamboozled big time!!

A good 320KB/s song (anything over and you can't really tell a difference) is about 10MB max for a 3-4 minute song. You literally are wasting a lot of space :P

The only files that are over 10MB are .flac files, and they sound no different to .mp3's

        • +3

          @Playin97:

          You filthy peasant.

        • Hekler being hekled
          Bamboozler being bamboozled
          Cobba being cobbled
          Planty being plantled

        • +1

@Playin97: FLAC my friend. Anything less is trash.

        • @potplanty: I don't understand you guys XD

  • At least make it a gig. Oh well free is free

    • +1

even the homeless would say (profanity) that shit!

  • +2

100MB WOWOW isnt that the size of an MP3 these days?

    • +5

      nope.

    • 5 min vid stream …

    • Not really its about the size of at least 10 mp3's
Or 1 hour of streaming for services like spotify…

  • +3

I'm sure there's some catch with it being Optus, likely agreeing to even slower downloads and worse reception. I'm excited that I'm 6 months away from never having to deal with them again…

    Also welcome to ozbargain

Haha i have been here from 2014 as a member. And have tried posting at least 200 deals but they all were dupes
      :(

      • +1

        Lol, here have an upvote.

        • +1

          Thanks
          My first deal.😄

    • yeah damn i made the mistake by switching from telstra to optus and the network sucks. >_>

      • +2

Where are you guys from? have had zero issues in melb with Optus, mobile, and 30mbps consistent with cable (on myrepublic now and some of my nights and weekends have not been good, internet speeds at a crawl)

The only thing they dun goof'ed was their letter regarding disconnecting existing cable and phone as they're halting copper services and to sign up to their NBN. The letter's language was all wrong and way too strong. Dumbest shit I'd ever had to read. (was going with myrepublic anyway).

Melbourne's west, plenty of dead spots in areas that they're map claims to get full 3G and 4g coverage yet there's one bar of reception and no chance of a clear call or loading a page.

Made the biggest mistake of joining their NBN, were on the 100/40 speed pack and struggle to get average adsl2 speeds averaging around 6mbps down. Absolutely pathetic, we no longer pay for the speed pack that we don't receive although it's still on our account.

If only I had the patients to argue with them I'd get the contract cancelled but their call centres are only capable of talking in circles and trying not to do anything.

        • +1

Mainly SE, but also all around melb as im a contractor. as rekabkram said, 1 bar of reception of 4g at the best of times and dead spots everywhere. dies in the ass when im in the lift. Had no such issues when i was on telstra.

    • +1

I'm with them now. Been okay, although their speeds aren't great. Nor coverage.

Who are you planning on switching to?

      • +1

For mobile Vodafone, for NBN looking at either Internode or Skymesh

With both services Optus seems to be happy offering sub par service and in NBN's case provide the cheapest pos router they can and only offer 'support' which must be more spiritual than technical from my experience.

When the network is so bad that customers are switching to Vodafail shit is serious.

  • +3

This app, at least on Android, wants wide-ranging access to your contacts and I think even your files. No deal. They've been pushing this app for months now, but there's just no justification for that.

I haven't delved into the T&Cs but it smells of selling my data.

I'm opting not to send 'TrawllThroughMyDataAndPwnItAll' to 111

    • +1

You dont actualy need to install the app…

      • +2

I realise that. I posted more as a warning to others who might be tempted to install the app

      • Even if you did, you can still use the app without giving it any permissions.

    • And yet the app works perfectly fine even after denying all permissions. They can only get what they want if you let them. Simple enough to click "deny" to any request they send.

  • +2

I texted, are you supposed to get something back?

    • 100MB back ?

    • Takes up to 24 hours

  • Is this another Optus promotion where it resets the recharge date so you actually end up losing credit?
    https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1850543

Don't trust promotions unless the terms are available.

I think I used 100mb just loading this page

  • +2

Awesome. 100MB is enough for JV to leave approximately 30,000 comments.

    • +2

Considering Jv posts are usually composed of a single sentence (either a really bad joke, half assed witty or saucy quip or a bad pun) I think a few hundred kilobytes might be sufficient for 30,000 of his comments

  • +2

    LMFAO!!! +1 for the breakdown…
always happy to Listen to music for 1 hour on Optus…

  • +6

Apparently Optus is also running a deal with McDonald's. If you mention "Optus Perks" next time you order a happy meal, you get 1 extra chip added to your small fries.

    • +2

      Post it as a deal?

      • +1

Sounds like a joke tbh. He said "1 extra chip" lol

        • +4

          But still this is OzBargain.
One extra chip means one more chip than for non OzBargainers.
I say post it as a deal.

        • +1

          @0p: ………..

        • Ok I will post it.

    • That's double the chips

  • +3

    • got 2 gig to burn on kogan in the next day that cost me $1 - you need to change dealers

  • +1

Thanks OP. 100mb is $1 based on the $5 or $10 data top up.

    • Free

      This is OzBargain after all…

  • +1

    Awesome … if it was 1995 …

  • +3

Nothing wrong with optus my way.

The network is good the speed is good and price is good.

Unlike some networks that havr their whole network riding on a lead that gets unplugged from time to time…. oh and did i say you pay a fortune….. trolzerz

    • I live in a small town in the middle of Qld and I enjoy being on Optus plus I get 24GB of data if I was on Telstra I would be paying more for the 1gb Telstra gives you

      • +1

Im on a sim only plan and get 25gb per month data and 500 mins international talk time including the all you can eat talk and text…. i dare say telstra will want 120 a month for it… optus has great reception and spped where i am and thats no bull.

  • +2

Optus thought was downloading app, really am loading doggo memes… Heckin bamboozlin!

    • +1

      Much fancy.
      Quite timid.
      Firm.
      But suttle.

  • World class IT right here

  • +2

    This is TARGETED.

"This offer is for selected Optus prepaid Mobile customers who received a promotional message from us."

    Did not work for me.

    • for real? 100 meg and targeted to boot? (profanity) that shit!

    • It is not.
      I have tested it.
      Please be patient.

  • -2

    It takes 24 hours
    Sheesh… Be patient guys.

  • Absolutely USELESS!

    • Why?

  • I've had no issues with Optus network however Optus customer service and their systems wow Ive had such a nightmare that if I had to pay more just to be on a other network, I would. It's so bad I'm willing to go against my ozb ways.

  • Do you need an active service to get the bonus? I've got an expired Optus service, heading towards number recycling in a month I think.

    • I don't see why not?
Considering its free to SMS 111…
Why not test it and report back here.

      • Still waiting.

        • It takes upto 24 hours

        • +1

@0p: A few hours more then.

      • Nothing. Not surprised since my recharge expired some time ago.

  • Just past 24 hours and gets Nothing! Sure this is Targeted

    • Have you checked myoptus?

      • no, but checked via '9999' txt 'bal'. nothing there.

        • -1

Please check my Optus it will say something like-

          Before=X. (your data)
          After=X+100. (your data+100)

  • Been almost 2 days and nothing. Don't think it's gonna work for me

  • -1

Doesn't it take like 100mb to turn on your phone? lol
    Idiots.
At $10 for a 1gb data pack on most telcos…they are literally giving away 10 cents.

    • +5

      Nice math.
      It's actually $1
      /0/Theydidntdothemath

      • right you are.
brain fade. either way….$1 is pointless.

    • +1

      Like 0p said, it's $1

even at 10c,its 1%, better than those 0.25% incremental increases on cash rewards
