Domino's Have Redeemed Me as a Customer

I just want to say, since Dominoes first came to Australia I hated their Pizzas. Doesn't taste very nice.

A while back someone mentioned on here that they do free swaps of ingredients. This really got my interest, I hate paying for toppings that I will be removing anyway. This policy is very fair.

So I gave their Pizzas another go. It's not bad, and it tastes nicer when you can add alternate ingredients which you DO like at no extra charge (usually I would hold off on extra toppings rather than pay a ridiculous $1 or $2 per topping that other places charge).

All in all, not too bad, I would recommend it and I hope that other Pizza places adopt the same policy.

I haven't gone back yet.. Still have my grudge when they delivered cold pizza after 2hrs. I rang up and complained after an hour and a bit, and they said it's on the way.. took another 45 mins or so before it actually arrived. They were un-apologetic, so I've taken my business to the gourmet pizza market and haven't turned back. I'd like to think the gourmet pizza has more quality and quantity ingredients.

    • I don't think that it's more quality/quantity ingredients, rather just a different recipe, different presentation, and different price tag. Of course I don't know you're local pizza joint, just talking generally.

$5 pick up for a customized pizza made fresh to order is pretty cheap.
Doesn't leave much room for a reasonable person to be too picky I would have thought.

    • I am fan gourmet pizza place one pizza might cost $22 I see $22 worth of pizza

They've been worse, and they've been better. I think their current phase in the cycle is getting worse, with many franchises unable to sustain an expected quality/quantity of toppings. Also the guaranteed delivery time option, has created a nice rushed delivery. But it has come at the often rushed and inforior quality of a pizza.

Also tried their Poutine chips, and they've not planned that well for pickup orders. With the chunks of cheese blocks still unmelted. Avoid that 'new' item from their menu.

I haven't tried this dish (this is the first i've heard of it!), but the cheese curds on poutines are not supposed to melt. Thats (at least half) the point of using cheese curds.

I for one have been searching for a poutine in australia that uses real cheese curds for years. this melted cheese crap everyone else calls a poutine is a sorry excuse for the real thing.

      • Ah, then it might be more to your liking then.

Though it did melt when left and was a mess to eat.

My local dominoes is hit and miss.
Recently they have started skimping on toppings and not making the requested changes.
When one pizza has no pineapple and extra mushrooms has the same quantity of mushrooms of a pizza of the same but with pineapple, that's not extra mushrooms =(

    • I'm always dubious about "double" because how do I know it's not the same serving as single? That's a good trick. Next time I order two pizzas I will make sure I have a reference point

  • I think for the money they are fine… again since its franchised you'll get 'variations'.

I had a 'good' experience a while back.

Ordered a meat lovers w/ pizza sauce, replaces bbq.

So I get there at 6.35pm, like 5 mins late after the 6.30pm order like the PC said.

Then the guy there goes, "ah still coming".

10 mins later, I get it, I also get a free BBQ meat lovers, the guy goes we put the wrong sauce on see keep both.

Two pizzas for the price of one, 1 x BBQ meat lovers, 1 x tomato sauce meat lovers.

Can't be too tough on them.

Also in my area its pretty obvious there's one franchise with a bunch of stores and they are uniformly "above standard" let's just say.

A little trick I learned (not sure if there has been changes to the menu since?) but Supreme pizza has the most topping out of all the rest (like 6 toppings instead of 4 or something). As dominos allows for free change, you can literally take off capsicum and mushroom and put on smoked ham and chicken and get a meatlovers pizza with extra toppings at no extra price (bonus points when you use it with a coupon)

The best part is you can remove mushroom and pineapple and add chicken and prawns, and get a chicken and prawn pizza for the price of a normal traditional one.

Would definitely say though that dominos is very dependent on their store. Most of the ones I've been too are great though, but I have been to one or two thats lacking.

one time i ordered 3 pizzas from dominos (with 50% off coupon) cash on pick up. when I got there they apologised and said they had made one of the pizzas but it didn't come out well. they had put on another but I had to wait. (which was cool as Aldi is next door and I usually go there to get icecream). anyway I came back 5 minutes later and they said the replacement for dodgy pizza was free (as I had to wait) and then they gave me the original dodgy pizza - so 4 pizzas all up, with 2 of those for free. plus i had one of those now defunct cards cards which they stamped every time you bought a pizza - I was due for a free pizza - so I redeemed that. - so now 3 for free. plus i ordered with a 50% coupon off so I ended up paying ~$4 for all 4 pizzas.

Reading your post title sounds like you were a coupon code.

Who wouldn't eat Domino's if they were giving away free food?

  • Does anyone know if they've changed their recipies lately? They've done something to the hawaiian and I used to be able to take it or leave it but now it's amazing. There's not much that you can do to a pizza with 3 ingredients so maybe it's the sauce or somemthing?

    • Yeah there was a menu revamp a few months back.

I used to be a strong proponent of the $5.95 extra value line.

  • Yes. Domino's pizzas improved quite a while ago. Good range. Good taste. Good prices.

    Cool story bro

  • Want my 30 seconds back. You owe me OP.

Here, take another 30 seconds to look at my comment reply

      • If it took me 30 seconds to read that, I'd be as dumb as the original post. Or any post. Particularly wooden ones.

        • Here, have another one :) (factoring in page loading times and interrupting your current activity in it too)

  • Redeemed? Did you sin? Did they use a coupon to get two of you for the price of one? :) I think the word you want is regained.

    • Of course I used coupons :)

  • They lost me as a customer when in late December I got a dead cockroach in my box. I ordered 3 pizzas delivered for about $30.

I contacted them about it with a photo and asked for a $10 refund (I thought that was reasonable as I only had one cockroach).

A few days later I get an email from them asking if anyone from the store had been in contact with me. I told them no they hadn't but I would now be reporting them to health inspectors because it seems like a complaint like this from a customer like me (they had my info and should be easily able to see I've been ordering them for years without a complaint) didn't seem to warrant much of a concern.

A week later I get another email apologising saying the area manager was demanding a full audit of the store and a voucher for 2 pizzas. I told them I had no interest in 2 free pizzas as I had no interest in going back to the store ever. I just wanted my $10 back. Never heard from them again.

Put their emails into my block list and started ordering pizzas from a local place I didn't know existed. The pizzas are twice the price but so much better.
