Extremely slow internet in Hadfield 3046, Victoria

I have moved to Hadfield and closet tower is about 3K.M thus, slow internet. Tpg guys said the internet speed can not be more than 5-7mbps where as, Optus tech guys said the same but I am getting 100kbps to 2mbps on their ADSL2+ plan which is unacceptable and ridiculous. they want to sell me NBN packages or Mobile data plans which are expensive. I want this freaking ADSL thing to work for me properly or at least what these big boys claim.

Please tell me my options or how I can get fast internet at least 10mbps

UPDATE 10.4.17
I can not get optus cable and NBN in Hadfield.

So is your house on NBN ? asking as you said they tried to sell you NBN which i don't think they would do if you couldn't get it.

    • I am eligible for a NBN connection but I don't want it as it is expensive and ADSL2+ should work and I should get what I am paying for..

$60 is expensive? what are you paying for your adsl?

Unfortunately ADSL customers are reaping the benefits of Turdbull's NBN plan where the gummints bought a whole bunch of aging copper wire which needed to be replaced from Telstra. Because Telstra's profits are more important than your internet. And then NBN Co pretends it's the ISP's fault by releasing studies etc.

If you have nothing else investigate fixed wireless.

Please do not vote this (profanity) moronic Telstra employee into the PM's job next time.

  • I just fed a random address into the NBN Search for Hadfield Vic (Small suburban Melbourne suburb) and it said Jan-Jun 2019.

Long after this "Government" is gone.

    • Faster, cheaper, sooner.

  • Your connection probably does run at 5-7Mbit but it'd be during non-peak times, I had the same issue at our last place. During peak times it'd drop off to the point it was completely unusable, technically your ISP isn't lying by stating that your connection is capable of UP TO 24Mbit but it's complete bullsh*t because the actual speed is nowhere near that.

Vivid is probably your best bet, maybe you're lucky enough to be in a Lightning Broadband coverage area - they're expensive but claim to offer speeds equally as fast as the NBN.

  • Dude, you are better off to start looking now for good nbn provider.
Eventually after a couple years they will shut down the old infrastructure.

    • No nbn in hadfield mate.

      • Well I wrote that coz you said you were being offered nbn.

Can't you get telstra cable or telstra adsl?

  • Check the wall connections. If old Telecom type remove, disassemble and clean and lightly file contacts. bend the sprung connectors back together for best contact. Did this with a friends internet who was experiencing same problem and BAM went up to 12MBps just like that

    • I am renting this place and this what we got here http://imgur.com/a/BLiNs

      • That looks dicky to say the least! Can you plug straight into the wall socket?

        • Theres no wall socket. Just a wire coming out from the wall and this thing is attached to end of it.

  • Hi,
I live in Hadfield, best bet is to try and get Optus cable as we are too far away from the exchange for adsl.(no other cable/HFC providers)
Optus cable will get you a 30mb line if you go on their standard plan. They prefer people to be on ADSL so keep asking for "Cable"
If you get the proper speed pack you could be on 80mb+
