  • I thought the Ti was meant to set an even higher release price than the 1080?

    • Since they have another Titan XP (that's the second Titan X pascal) which is better than this, this price makes sense.

      • I can't seem to find much info on a second Titan X Pascal, could you give me more info? IIRC there was only one and that was released Q3 last year.

        • +1

They're about to release a titan that is actually called "Titan XP". The one released last year was called "Titan X" but people just slapped on the extra P to avoid confusion. But nvidia kinda added to the confusion by taking that name for their new gpu.

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLH-2LmOhx8&t=

    • Since AMD has been asleep at the wheel, they've probably figured out the optimum amount they can charge people for a new gpu

      • +1

I hardly think asleep at the wheel is fair.

Nvidia is a behemoth, AMD is a much smaller concern that delivers strong products compared to Nvidia in some areas.

  • +2

wow this is dropping it price faster than andriod phones.

    • +3

Video cards have been doing that for 20 years +…

  • +1

I upvoted before I realised founders edition ewwwwwwwww 1 fan

    • When have reference cards ever been anything but these blowers?

    • +3

Blowers are good for smaller cases.

    • Makes sense for some people. Exhausting video card heat outside the case means other fans don't need to run.

    • What's the obsession with dumping hundreds of watts of heat into a case?! Its bad enough having a 100W CPU doing it. Poor design and engineering.

If you want quiet founders edition cards have standardized mounting for water blocks

      :)

      • +1

founders edition cards have standardized mounting for water blocks

Yep, I normally only buy reference video cards for this reason.

    • Keep refreshing this page till you find the one you want https://www.newegg.com/global/au/Product/ProductList.aspx?Su… postage to East Coast AU is about $45

  • I paid $1,299 + 40 shipping for an Acer X34 about … 6 months ago? I would consider very carefully where to spend that money now that high refresh 3440x1440 VA panels are close (or here already?)

    • I love my x34. Thinking about getting a 1080ti. have a 1070 atm

      • +1

        just ordered a x34 myself… now considering this… have a 1070 too haha

        • +1

the 1070 is ok with the x34, generally ~60fps with most modern games. but i want 100fps!! haha
Im going to see if they drop in price within the next month. $900 and i think ill buy one.

        • +1

@Arnor: I ordered one… having a bit of a spending hang over right now… with a side of regret and a touch of excitement haha

        • @KRiSX: Has your 1080ti and x34 turned up yet?

        • @Arnor: yeah, sitting in front of it right now… loving it :D

        • @KRiSX: Noice! i had an issue with monitor that after sleep the windows wouldnt be how i left them, would all be back on monitor #1 and minimized. Ive fixed that by installin the X34 drivers instead of generic monitor driver from MS.
the extra screen real estate is so good, ive been playing Battlegrounds and really notice more people with the peripheral vision.

        • @Arnor: haha yeah I have just become obsessed with battlegrounds and have only ever played it on this screen… the 21:9 really feels good in that game

haven't noticed any issues myself, though i've currently dropped down to 1 screen which may be why i haven't had the problem you had

          enjoy :D

  • If this was the SC model for $999 I'd snap it up no second thoughts

    • I hope you know you can OC it yourself to SC model or overkill models without the xtra dosh ontop

      • SC models are often higher binned chips which will give better overclocking performance. Not always, but enough that people don't mind gambling on it for a few extra bucks.

      • I hope anybody who's interested in video cards knows you can overclock them and why there are numerous models offered

  • Thanks Ken

  • Give it 11 months, will be $699. My 980 Ti will have to do for now.

    • +1

3 years more like but what's the difference

      • -1

1080's were pretty dame price as 1080 Ti on release and now recently down to $699 in some places. Yearly releases ensure this.

        • By then there'll be an 1180 which is much faster.

        • @cheng2008
That's probably when I'll next upgrade. Or just deal with dropping some setting to medium for a bit longer… Sigh. Consoles are so much more simple. And if I hadn't experienced pc gaming in all its glory I wouldn't know. Damn these good gtx cards!!

  • No DVI-D, can't hook it up to 1440p korean monitor without active adapter.. :(

    • +1

so cheap monitor but expensive card.. surely you can afford the adaptor?

      • +1

active adapter goes for ~$100, might as well get non-founder editions going for ~1100 atm

  • Decent price…. tempted to get this now since am looking for a GTX 1080Ti Founders model for my Alienware Graphics Amplifier!

  • Good cards but not fan of the reference board with the limited number of connector options. Would rather go with MSI Gaming X or something.

  • any 144hz 3440x1440p yet?

    • Im looking for one too

    • Even with this card most titles can't reach 144fps with max settings.

      • i care more about immersion than settings.

low setting on 3x24" monitor is >> 1x4k monitor on ultra

      • 144hz for competitive gaming and 60+fps for other more graphically intense casual single player games is fine.

        • 144 just more comfy to play on.

    • It doesn't exist - A reasons for this is the limitation of Displayport 1.2 which is currently the standard, I think DP1.3 is needed to push the higher framerates

  • -1

I don't think this card is a deal breaker for me between this and the gtx 1080 $200 for 10 fps extra in 4k!! seriously not worth it. 50 and 60 FPS I don't see any differences really. However if the differences are 50 and 70+ FPS it would be an amazing and a Big deal breaker for me to buy it even if it's 1000 bucks.

    • +2

The difference almost is from 50 to 70fps. At 4K the GTX 1080 averages 52.1fps and GTX 1080 Ti 68.2fps. The difference is even larger if we're talking 1440p.

      http://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/GNnbaKWSq8Sfh4GhcDNnDf-650-…

      • We are talking about 4k not 1440P and yeah as you said almost not even 70+ I have tried countless times to see the differences in FPS with my gtx 1080 tweaking settings between 60fps and 80fps that's when you notice how smoother it got. My point is Paying 1000$ now for the little differences is not worth it. Just wait a little longer and let the price drop That's all and not to mention VEGA is around the corner.

        • The 1080ti monsters the 1080

  • Do u guys think this price will happen again in the next few months for a 1080Ti founders edition? Birthday isn't until early July and usually these things go down in price but I wonder if it would happen so soon.

    • It looks our friend is waiting for a birthday present from whom?… Normally parents can't be that considerate to buy a 1080ti for kids. Let me guess… :)

      • Lol its from the wife but I get to pick it. She chose her own boy bag.

    • +1

My advice is wait until AMD releases VEGA next month as I predict price drop city.

      • Thanks. After seeing it's also priced similarly on newegg, it makes me think I should wait. I'm also hoping to work out an overseas trip to claim GST back too at the same time!

  • Thanks Ken_ZomgWtfBbq I just bought one. $999 delivered is a very decent price! now I have to sell my 1070 to recoup some money.

  • If work wasnt deploying me on Easter Sunday for five months with 13 days notice I would definitely snap this up. Hating the Navy right now!!!

  • Does this sale actually end on the 17th or just disappears from this website

  • Anyone else bought this card and wants to redeem a game you need to go to this page : http://au.evga.com/articles/01080/Prepare-For-Battle/default…
I registered with EVGA as Australian - but all the pages linked off of that page are in Chinese. Google translate helps - but I can't find the 'request' button once the proof of purchase has been uploaded. Any one ever gone through this process?

    • Hey mate, cheers for the link. It's asking me for a serial no. How did you go about registering and redeeming the game codes?
