Even with the discount it's no Starbuy

    • really? i thought they look nice, never owned one though.
what do you recommend as a good diving watch? that's what i was looking for.
Spinnaker didn't really make anything that impressed me, but i thought the discount was worth sharing :)

The usual fake heritage / sporting aspirations guff on made in China watches
    Hard pass.

I wonder how many of these pop up brands are all made by the same owners.

  • Oh my god, my eyes are burning.. Why would you want that on your wrist?

Did a little research, their watches are made in china by a OEM supplier called solar time. Totally not worth more than $100.

    • Thats great research. I ordered a Brathwait swiss automatic. Its seriously delayed. Can you find out who the OEM supplier is for them? It would be really great to know.

The factory may differ according to model. Request a photo of your model's movement, which may provide a clue.

If I wasn't driving I would actually go on the AliExpress hunt.

"Spinnaker watches have a reputation for great build quality at affordable prices"

    …They do?!

    • that's what the reviewer on the youtube video said….?

Whoever named that watch Wreck should be awarded and dismissed for honesty simultaneously.

    • +1

      lol thats so true

Yeah the name isnt good. They should have went with "Shipwrecked" etc.

Be that as it may, I dont think this is the worst I seen. I do like the design and the 'crazed' dial. Its not $250 to me but its a solid $100 watch if you love the aesthetic.

IMO this brand is nowhere near as bad as DW or MVMT… someone actually looks like they have an eye for design and was able to make that clear to the Chinese sweatshop that made this.

I would gladly own one of the divers but not at their asking but even then, their asking isnt as abhorent as the asking for DW etc.

        • Well said.

Haha I like the Dumbass Collection, oh sorry Dumas.

Maybe list some watches that you thought were a particular bargain as suggested in the Deal Posting Guidlines, then you might get some votes

hahahaha that's worse than wreck hahahaha

I thought the 30% off code was worth sharing
never knew spinnaker was such a rubbish brand and so despised.
the youtube reviewer really talked it up a lot.
don't matter if I get no votes, better luck next time I guess
I learned new things and got a few laughs.

        • I never said it was rubbish, just don't have time to search through all the watches to see if there is any standout bargains at the moment. Also you haven't mentioned shipping costs.

Some prices would be interesting, seeing as some are Automatics.

        • @WatchNerd: Japanese auto for under $200 is a bargain. This is in Seiko SX007 territory price-wise and as an owner of several 007's in the past these look considerably nicer than any of the 007's I have owned. Also, good luck getting any of the higher end Seiko autos for anywhere near this price. You might score a Monster but you wont get a Prospex (Sumo etc) auto for double what these cost.

Each to their own, Japanese auto movement (assuming Casio) for <$200 is a pretty good deal. Styling is personal taste. If you are into collecting micro brand auto watches these are reasonably priced with the code. I have paid several times this price for micro brand watches like Hexa, Magrette and others.

The Tavolara series was recently on Massdrop for $99USD, which is about the right price point for a Miyota 8215 auto IMHO. The package offered looked pretty nice for that price, with an extra NATO and spring-bar tool in a presentation box, but I've never seen this in the flesh so can't comment on build quality etc, so the usual caveats apply. A few nice features like internal bezel etc, but at 30% off the $350USD ($245USD) it's a no-deal for me.

  • The Wreck comes down to (yeah, I know) $175 which is not too bad for a Japanese Automatic movement. The Dumas comes down to $294 and seems to have the same movement. Shipping is free (go on, put that in the title, you know you want to) but that fact is unseen until entering one's fake address.

The DUmas looks like its a tad more high end with the build and milanese band… note that Apple charges $100 Plus just for the mesh band!

To my eye it looks like many lower end Japanese divers up to $800 or so. If it actually is a 300m ISO rated diver then fair enough.

I would wear it, but I wouldnt pay $420 US for it lol!

Again, the name is odd, what does French writer philosopher Dumas have to do with a diver watch?

      • what does French writer philosopher Dumas have to do with a diver watch?

        Nothing …

Taking its name from the famed diving pioneer Frédéric Dumas who collaborated with Jaques Cousteau on many of the groundbreaking expeditions from the 1940s, 50s and 60s and was a leading undersea archealogist in his own right.

… but you are right. fine wearing if a gift, but not worth purchasing.

Nothing wrong with buying a watch that isn't a Citizen eco drive. Plenty of great looking, great quality watches from these pop store type brands. You have to do your research though.

    • Very true.

Spinnaker often has discount codes available, like 30%. The vintage style Cahill model has been pretty popular, partly due to discounting. It comes to US $161 after coupon, however, it was recently on Massdrop for US $129 with a Miyota 8215. No sapphire unfortunately. The custom blue rotor behind the sail logo they use on their display windows create the illusion of a boat on the water.
