Looks to be expensive still to me compared to the historical deals from bargain posts.

  • shame they're not doing white goods - i need a new freezer

    • Try approching their clearance / warehouse store.

Fir example Binglee has one in Syd. You can try on 2nd world in Auburn

Excludes Apple and current advertised lines.

No deal unless it is 20% off on everything.

  • +4

Honestly it doesn t look like a big deal….remember to me when Dick Smith used to do the same.

Seems some of the S8 accessories are on sale: https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/samsung-convertible-fast-char…

    • Save yourself another $60+ and buy the last year model. I just bought one and have been using it on S8 with the same fast wireless charging speed.

  • Unfortunately the item I'm after hasn't been priced down on their eBay store so that extra 5% doesn't apply. Bugger

  • +1

They're still selling the Samsung Galaxy S5 for $500 lol

    • +2

One of the rare phone which is water resistant and has a removable battery

      Isn't that a terrible price?

      • That's the joke.

I reckon the Moto Z Play is decent value at $509.15: https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/motorola-moto-z-play---black-…

Although I don't understand why the price of the white model is still $599 :S

    • +9

      That's racism

      • +3

        Hahaha!

On a follow up after reading OP's full post, the same price is on their eBay store too so add the C5AUS code to make it $483.6925 :)

        • Better than the upcoming G5+ with 4gb ram? I can't decide between these 2.

        • +1

          @kulprit: Just did a quick comparison: http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=8453&idPhone2=…

Not sure which one is better. I'm gonna take a guess and say the Z Play has a better camera. From what I've read the Z-Play also has one of the best batteries in a smartphone. Size is also a factor - the Z Play is bigger but it also has 0.3" more screen real estate than the G5+. Interesting that they've gone with an IPS screen on the G5+ while the Z Play has an AMOLED. Besides these, almost everything else seems the same, maybe that extra GB of RAM would help performance wise.

I'm not sure what the G5+ costs so can't comment on that. If there isn't a big price difference, then I would recommend the Z Play purely for the battery since most reviews say that the phone will last a day even with heavy usage.

For me, at this price, I'm mostly sold on the Z Play but the big size is slightly off putting so I'm planning to check it out in person before deciding to buy it or not.

        • @alwaysupforabargain: G5+ with 4GB ram is $449. Currently only available direct from Motorola so likely to never be on sale. If you got the 16GB/3gb RAM version you can get from other shops for $399 and eventually on sale.

Thanks for the comparison. Might hold out a couple more days.

        • +1

@kulprit: Yeah just saw that the G5+ 16GB/3GB model is now available at Australian stores (JB Hi Fi, Good Guys, etc). I would say it's a good price for that phone too.

Since both phones have the same chipset and the $399 model has 3GB RAM which is same as the Z Play, they'd perform quite similarly so I would say that you would be fine with either. The main differences would be what I mentioned above in terms of battery and size (I'm actually not sure if the Z Play has a better camera). So you could get the G5+ and save the extra $80-$100.

        • +1

@alwaysupforabargain: You did notice the G5 & G5 Plus is 15% off right now yeah??

        • @TRENT86: Oh damn, no, makes it a lot more worth it then! Thanks Trent!

  • +7

This is even worse than the 20% off on ebay…. They have just raised all their prices to RRP before the 'sale'… Most of the things I have been looking at have now increased in price, even after their 20% off from what it was before the sale… Shame shame shame…

    • Highly illegal, but hardly worth the trouble of complaining/proving it.

    • Yeps something I was watching jumped $100 the day before this was announced.

  • +1

If people can't be bothered with trying to get consumer protection what do they expect?

  • +1

Lots of those phones were already that price. Now they're just saying "Was $*** online". I was looking at those Moto G models for example and they've been at that price or cheaper for weeks but now they're stating the price USED to be $249 but now $199 for example

    • +3

I looked at those too. But in the case of the G4 Plus the 'was $349 now $299' does not reflect a 30% discount (it is marked as clearance). One would hope that will still be corrected…

      • Can confirm I paid 299 less 5% via GG eBay for the moto g4 plus weeks ago and that was pretty much the std price everywhere.

      • +2

Yep.. it should be 30% off the $299 price… :(

        • +2

Or even 30% off the $349 would be a bargain. Shame it's not. Downvoting the deal now - false advertising.

        • +1

@team teri: Took a long time but now the G4 Plus is 30% off, $244. Revoked my neg.

    • +2

Discounts exclude already advertised lines, so you won't see extra discount on something that's already on special

  • +2

    15% off Samsung page has:
Excludes clearance, Galaxy S8 and current advertised lines.

Ever single thing on that page is listed as clearance or "as advertised"… hmmm.

  • I bought an iPad case but it was the same price as the last time I checked 3 weeks ago.

  • +5

    Fake sale

  • All the comments are of a negative tone yet 70+ votes. Weird.

    • +1

I think a lot of people just read the headline and think 'yeah that's good'. From the comments it seems that when you look in to it in a bit more depth it isn't such a great sale

    • +3

It's been like this for a while, lazy umbrella deals with nice looking numbers (30% off??_attracts the + votes, then people have a go at JV for his signature 'any bargains' comment.

    • Negged… Been following prices to make sure a deal on eBay is a deal. Then this even TGG are following eBay lead in advertising fake sales.

  • -1

I can't see any good deals in the 30% Off Clearance Notebooks section…

In fact - a lot of the computers are much cheaper elsewhere at full retail.

    (JB Hifi / Shopbot)

    • Yep for some reason the 30% of is still not bloody live! I have sent a msg to TGG & am waiting a reply

  • +2

Price matched a Logitech Bluetooth M337 Mouse with Officeworks for $19.20, bringing it down to $18.24. Bargain.

    • That's a great deal! What evidence did you use to price match?

The GG website shows it being unavailable but it has been advertised at $19.20 until May 1. I couldn't find the advertisement.

  • Am I missing something? I read it as 30 per cent off clearance, yet many of the clearance prices are discounted by a lot less than 30 per cent. Is this not false advertising? Happy to be corrected.

  • +1

10% off iPhones (excludes iPhone 7 and 7 Plus) - the good guys expects you to buy the iPhone 3GS.

  • +3

    Fake sale!

  • '30% Off Clearance' looks like the only part of this sale that might be worthwhile looking at. There was recently a 'Storewide Sale' at my local Good Guys that basically excluded the whole store. It's a real pity because they had some great sales when I used to work there in the mid-2000s. Nowadays they're dodgy as.

  • +3

Bring on Amazon. Hope they drop a bomb on these Muppet retailers and there shit house deals:)

  • +3

$339 seems okay for the Moto G5 Plus considering it only just came out

    • +1

      Good eye mate!

Looks to be the 16GB model with 3GB RAM. NFC too!

      • You mean 32GB? I wasn't aware they had a 16GB version. How did you arrive at your conclusion? I can't see the specs on the website…

        • Australia has 2 versions, 16gb/3gb RAM, and 32gb/4gb RAM, $399 and $449 respectively. So yeah, this is definitely the 16gb model. Bit of info here: http://ausdroid.net/2017/04/28/moto-g5-plus-australian-revie…

        • Yeah I know their website didnt show but I did a search on the product/item number
1031000231 - JBHiFi has the same stock and list the specs for it but for $399.

Had to double check with Motorola. Considering it just came out, the offical motorola website listed a moto g5 plus for $399 RRP and that shows same specs for the same model as JBHiFi. The 32GB model is $449.

I could be wrong, but the evidence is clear

    • +1

That's just crazy: now that I made up my mind and wanted to buy the G5 Plus is shown as $399. :-(

      • +2

That's just crazy: now that I made up my mind and wanted to buy the G5 Plus is shown as $399. :-(

Complain to the store and the ACCC. This is outright false and misleading advertising. People are going into the stores to buy and bring turned away.

  • Apple iPad Mini 2 Wi-Fi Cellular 16GB Space Grey on Clearance for $509.00!

    • -1

      Bargain!!!

  • 10% of iPhones says 7 & 7+ aren't included but rose gold 128GB 7 is down from $1229 to $1099???

Shame the black 128GB 7 isn't on special also as would've nearly gotten one but must remember to wait five months for the 7s series & maybe the 8/Anniversary/OLED 2017 phones.

  • +3

The Fake Guys are refusing to sell the G5 and G5+ for the advertised price, they've put the price back up and refuse to honour the 15% off deal when it clearly applies.

This is utter BS and I'm going to escalate this to the ACCC if they don't honour the advertised price. They don't have a leg to stand on, they dropped the prices on eBay and their website when the sale started and pulled out now because they realised they could get more for them.

Damn I can't change my positive vote to a negative.

    • +1

I noticed that as well. The online price has changed, so I just rang them. They say they have 15% off mobiles today so the price is about $340
