Cannondale Synapse Hi-Mod Dura Ace 2016 for $4499 (RRP $7999) @ Bike Force Docklands VIC on Bike Exchange

50

Sooo many bike deals at the moment.

Just noticed the Cannondale Synapse Hi-Mod Dura Ace 2016 is only $4499 (RRP$ 7999).

Amazing price for a carbon frame with a Dura Ace groupset! Must be a runout deal and therefore likely for there to be limited stock.

If only I needed a new bike.

  • this costs more than one of my cars.

    • how many cars do you have….????

      • +5

        enough to fill my garage.

        • so how big is your garage!!!!

        • +16

          @ceftax3:
big enough to store all my cars.

          @tuzii: Nice one!!!

I love when i get abused by an ignorant bogan car driver and the absolute devastation on their face when i tell them i have more rights on the road based purely on the fact my bike is worth more than their car.

If only I needed a new bike.

Don't you always need a new bike?

    • +8

      N+1….you always need another bike!

      • until you get to N-1, where N is the number of bikes that makes your partner leave you

  • Ill run out and buy 5

    • +4

You should buy 1 and then ride it to buy the remaining 4

  • I'd say thats still expensive. If it was Di2 I'd consider another look.

    I'd rather https://www.bikeexchange.com.au/a/road-bikes/focus/nsw/carlt…

    Much the same bike.

    • Is it possible to get Di2 at that price?

    • you can't just look at specs and say much the same bike

I think the Izalco is more race oriented geometry and the cannondale more longer distance and higher degree of shock absorbance

      Possibly very different rides

I've ridden the Cannondale and it was enough difference for me to realise that the bike I owned at the time was too hard core race and not suited to where I ride and how I ride, it was that comfy!!

Think the Izalco sounds amazing though if that's the kind of bike you are after

It was overpriced in the beginning - typical Cannondale. You can just about always negotiate a 10-20% off a bike in a bike shop for big name brands. In November last year I managed to get 25% off the RRP for the 2017 Ultegra Di2 Hydraulic Disc version of this bike, but I did buy 2 (1 for a friend).

    • You're a good friend.

    • +2

Would you be my friend :)

    • Not in Adelaide. No one budges a cent from RRP and if you mention seeing something (inevitably) cheaper interstate they give you a hard time about "destroying jobs" etc. Well I am actually trying to support the local shop if they'd just match the price I saw. If you mention BikeExchange they have a hissy fit. Some of the branded shops will ring their other locations to let them know someone is calling around and to fix price $X. Can't wait for some ACCC action on these sharks.

edit: Mates rates is 10% off accessories when you buy a bike at RRP.

      • Perhaps you can buy a bike on your next trip interstate and get the LBS to ship it to you.

        • I've noticed many stores have a gentlemen's agreement to not ship interstate. All my toys with wheels are from Sydney and self-serviced.

        • @LoopyLou:

“I've noticed many stores have a gentlemen's agreement to not ship interstate”

They aren't allowed to ship interstate. They can if second hand or demo though

Think it is the actual bike companies that set this

  • You can get a 2016 focus Izalco Max with dura ace for $4000 so I wouldn't consider this an amazing price for a carbon frame with dura ace.

      But this is hi-mod..

I'd much prefer a Canyon for this price. Im No pro, dura ace is wasted on my fat ass (ultegra is good enough).

4499 vs 4399 for the canyon shipped. Similar components but you get the dura ace. Love Canyon bikes and their price, but for $100 more you get better specs and a tried and tested Synapse bike which is ridiculously comfy and you get full back up service from the shop if you have any problems. Plus you can sit on it, check the size and get fitted by the shop

Gotta love Canyon, but in this case I'd go with the Cannondale. Yeah only if you live near this shop though

  • I still think the recent Avanti Corsa DR2 deal was the best this season

sad thing is shimano are moving to flat mount disc brakes ….. the 2016/17 synapse has the old mounts so with this type of investment ($4500), don't expect brake upgrades in the future without special brackets ….. the Cadd-X has the new style mounts …., it's why I skipped the 2016-17 synapse deals. Gumtree and Ebay …. full or bikers broken dreams while low ballers feast on their sorrows.
