  • Anyone else going to stand at self-service and do new transactions until closing time?

Pure bewilderment on the face of the checkout girl. I'm happy with the free chocolate

  • -7

    Sweet got 10 free.
5 normal and 5 hazelnut ones
Scanned one, scanned barcode, completed purchase and then repeated

    • +1

      You gonna get fat

      • +4

I'm going to give them to the pretty girls at work

        • +7

They soon wont be "pretty*" if they keep eating these chocolates!

          *subjective

        • @Turd:
          Hahahahaha
I might try get them a whole box tomorrow, so they aren't pretty anymore 😂

    • +4

"Cadbury Dark Milk Hazelnut Bar" is also free with the barcode?

      Edit:tuzii upvoted to confirm it.

      • +1

it actually tastes nicer than the normal dark milk one.

  • at 28 grams i would have given this a miss but at a whopping 35 grams i'll skip lunch for it.

  • Could not find any at my local store - only the full size blocks. I couldn't even see a spot on the shelf where they were meant to be.

    • They're where all the 50g bars are, mine was on the top shelf on sale for $1.

      • Yeah I saw the $1 sale bars, but only the old flavours, not this new variety

    • +2

I couldn't find any in the chocolate section, nor was there a spot for them. But there was a cardboard stand full of them near the checkouts.

      • Yeah I lapped the entire store and found a cardboard stand containing the full size blocks, but not these smaller bars. Maybe I just missed it! Oh well.

        • Same here, not even a space on the shelves for the 35g ones so they don't appear to stock them, only a display several aisles away with the full size blocks. Will be at another Coles store this morning, so will have a look there.

      • Same!

  • +2

Registered was told I was successful but never received the email with the bar code :(

    • check your junk mail

      • I did that!

        • Same. Have not received any email

        • +1

          @unity1:
Few people posted the barcode further up, it's not unique.

        • @Miss B: Thank you for confirming that. Might as well use that one if others are too.

    • Few people posted the barcode further up, it's not unique.

    • same…checked junk mail :(

  • Hi,
    Thanks for posting - YUM!

  • -1

I wonder whether it works for normal milk chocolate. Dark chocolate too bitter for me.

    • It's actually somewhere between milk chocolate and regular dark chocolate (hence the name Dark Milk), so you might still enjoy it.

  • +4

I feel sorry for whoever gets the 100,001st bar and find that the barcode no longer works.

  • 35g? C'mon

    • -5

      I GOT 350G

  • -2

Thanks, got 4 bars. Manually entering the code works at self checkout ;)

    • +5

So you got mine and 2 others Congratulations 😑

      • -3

I got another 3 more today, gave 1 to a friend though

  • mmm chocolate..

  • How long does it take for the email to arrive?

    • Yea I didn't get mine either… Going to have to buy a tub of ice cream to drown my sorrows

      • Still hasn't arrived - enjoy the ice cream! I collected the new voucher sheet from Hungry Jacks last night, my tastes run to the Bacon Deluxe Jr burger meal for $3.95!

      • +1

Few people posted the barcode further up, it's not unique.

  • All gone at coles world sq

  • Apparently there is another brand called coles central that doesn't take them either despite not being in the conditions.

  • Got 1 at coles Eastland

  • -2

    Diabetes!!! Go go go….

  • -7

    Managed to grab 15.

    • Good work Broden

    • -1

      GOOD WORK BRO!!!
im gunna try for 30 tomorrow.

  • I bought some of these block varieties last week. Yuck. I'll pass thanks. Someone else can have mine ;-)

    • Thanks for letting us know, I was only just wondering if you were going to get one.

    • I got a bunch of the dark chocolate one. It taste's strange & has a weird mouth feel.

    • Thanks, I grabbed yours. I hope you don't change your mind it's too late now.

  • +8

Hardly a bargain as the first 100,000 people have passed away thousands of years ago.

  • Went into my Junk Email!
I would have redeemed it if I noticed earlier.

  • +2

Has anyone tried the new M&M's block chocolate, it's made in CHINA!
Hope this Cadbury chocolate is made in Australia.. can anyone confirm?

    • +1

M&M blocks are shit. Bought one and haven't even eaten more than a few squares

    • mine said
      Made in Iran Under License

      • -1

People really should be boycotting stuff from such countries. Could have anything in it, and even if they get caught, just say, "Oops" until next time.

  • +3

Keep in mind, that given the terms and conditions say one barcode per person, and that you must surrender it. There's always a chance, that if you run through the checkout with it multiple times, you get the same treatment as someone that scans avocados as potatoes. Just because the system lets you do it doesn't make it a lessor theft in the eyes of the law.

So um, maybe try not to be so blatant about it.

    • I downloaded game of thraones

      • +2

I hope you didn't have to watch it.

      • -2

        what a horrible show.

  • +1

Don't scan flybuys, will set it back to $1 if you used it once already. Plenty left at Southern Cross station Coles.

    • It didn't for me. But maybe it's because I got one of each flavour.

      • Lucky! The coupon didn't work on the hazelnut which is the one I really wanted to try?

  • +1

Is it possible to do it through self serve to avoid the embarrassment?

    • -5

yep. just went through, 3 (sorry!) x individual transactions of $0.00 each using the coupon on mobile and using the flybuys scanner . No one batted an eyelid

    • +3

      Yes. Scan chocolate
Then enter barcode manually. It will mark it as -$1.01 = 0 balance. Press finished. Take choccy and receipt for staff member who may look confused.

      • How do you enter the barcode manually though?

        • +1
        • @awoff1:

          thanks

        • @awoff1: that is old software, all or most Coles now have a newer software, I find it very slow and shitty

    • I just flagged it with the person tending the self serve registers

  • I'll pass thanks. Cadbury is such low quality, junk chocolate.

    • In general I agree, but this new variety is actually not too bad compared to their regular chocolate.

    • +2

      But free.

  • +3

Thank you, grabbed one from Canberra city!

  • -2

    bought 11 so far..

    • Don't you mean "bought" 😑

      • -2

        I have receipts for all 11 ;)

  • Anyone bought one in the last couple of hours? Don't wanna go there and be rejected :(

    • "Bought" one 2 hours ago.

      • +1

Well i went about 2 hours ago and it didnt work :(

        • +1

when i did it, it said to pay $1.01. when you click 'pay' it corrects itself and you don't need to do anything, it'll just go straight to asking if you want a receipt.

  • Grabbed one last night. Girl on the desk looked so confused but it was so worth it. Highly recommend the one with the salted caramel or whatever it was…

  • +1

Can't get too a Coles so frustrating

  • +1

Got 4 in as many days, grab one for a snack whenever I pass a Coles. Self-serve works, as mentioned it will display $1.01 but tap on Pay and it will reduce to $0.00. Phone display won't work for the barcode, but e-ink should, because of the laser scanner.

It's really not that much darker than milk, but free is good.

  • Attendant at servo just gave them out free without even asking or using barcode.

    • Even they don't like them ;-)

  • +1

Just got to love Ozbargain. 500 odd "plus votes" and over 180 entries for a free 35 gram bar of Cadbury's chocolate. Now if it was KoKo Black I might understand, but Cadbury's?

    • -1

Because free is free and you can always feed it to that annoying neighbour's dog. :) I won't be buying it at normal price though.

    • Don't knock this one until you try it 😉

      • I just find the amount of interest hilarious.

  • -1

Tried last night and they are no longer available.

  • Thanks OP it is delish. And to all the other Ozbargainers who worked out how to do it self serve and typing in the barcode when it did not scan, thank you too. Goto love this community.
