Rinnai Gas Heaters

Hi

Thinking of getting a gas heater for the living room. This rinnai gas heater enduro 13 can be had on gumtree for around 400 so am wondering if it is worth gettting.

  • I havd a larger similar one but fluted. Does a great job

  • We inherited a similar model from the parents. It kept shutting off after random periods. They took it to get fixed and the guy said an issue with an oxygen sensor, I think.
We don't use it much, but it works OK. Perhaps something shifted in the trip to our place?
In any case, the repairman wanted $400+ to replace the master circuit board.

The gas heater we do use is an old beast with the exposed heat panels.
    Similar to this: http://www.homecoolingheating.com.au/images/rinnai3.jpg
This gets very hot, very fast and can be switched between 1 panel, 2 or all 4.
And it has a manual ignition so it works in a blackout. It was under $20 on Ebay.
The kids love laying out the school uniform in front of it on a cold morning when they get dressed, so it warms up their clothes.

  • I've got one like that unflued Rinnai.
Works great, I turn the temp down to 16c at night and it turns itself on and off when it falls below that. It doesn't use a lot of gas when you use it like that, It just takes the edge off the cold. Or you can turn it up and roast.
I blow it out with air compressor before winter, as it has sensors which turn it off if oxygen is low or the filters are clogged.

  • I've got one, it's great. And it will heat up a room like an SoB. Does an excellent job, and I totally recommend it. No issues with mine, and my in-laws have the same one
