Where to Buy a Washing Machine?

I am looking to spend about $700 (mine just died this week).

  1. Do I wait in hope that EOFYS kicks in in the next week and score a bargain or do I hit the shops this weekend?
  2. Any deals you can recommend?

Whatever you choose, I'd highly recommend to use appliances online, they're honestly the best company I have dealt with in terms of customer service and pricing. They price match almost anywhere and offer to take your old one for free.

But in terms of your question, it seems like companies have already started their EOFYS such as TGG and HN, so I reckon just shop around and try find the best deal currently, I can't really see it changing within a week.

    • I think they (Appliances Online) do basic connection too, which is a big deal for some people. And take away the packaging.

  • If you plan on moving anytime with the machine, buy one as portable as possible.
I was stupid, buying a huge 7.5kg top loader washer which rarely fits anywhere.

Give your clothes to the local OP shop and buy them back clean ironed at 50 cents a piece. Full of original ideas … just like McDonalds.

Wait for an ebay 20% off sale … can normally find a clearance machine that's cheap.

    • This is how I did it last year - $482 vs $699 normally without clearance & eBay 20%.

    Buy one at the store.

    Costco

  • What exactly does 7.5kg (for example) mean when choosing a washer? Dry clothes weight? Does anyone actually pre weigh their laundry.

Yeah you have to weigh every load. Our local fruit shop closed down so we picked up their hanging scales cheap, they now hang directly over our machine.
Darn machine caught me out weighing 7.5kg of feathers and trying to sneak 7.5kg of bricks in instead.

I use bathroom scales. I measure my weight, then hop back on with the clothes basket. Then add or remove an item or two until it's within 30 grams. My machine stops with the error "Wash not 7.5kg" otherwise.

Thanks very. Always wondered about this.

      • Lol, I didn't know people really measure their cloths before they put in the wash, I use those weight as a guide when I bought it, based on how many ppl in the house hold :)
