Ordered one. Reviews are good and i needed a new bluetooth speaker. Musiccast is a bonus.

    • Thanks for your upvote and order - you won't be disappointed, the sound of these units is great.

    • Was What Hi-Fi reviewing a different product?

A disappointing offering from Yamaha, which, in the end, constitutes a rather expensive and not very engaging background listen.

      • Didnt read that one. https://www.avforums.com/review/yamaha-isx-80-restio-musicca…
Quite a differing opinion. We'll see i suppose.

        Another decent review:

For the price it should be a good BT/Wifi/airplay speaker for the bedroom. Which is what i bought it for.

But that's based on the ridiculous RRP of $700 though. For $700, I'd be disappointed too if it didn't sound beyond incredible.

I have two of these bought through the previously posted $199 special on Yamaha website. Am a pro muso and audiophile and the sound is fantastic at that price point. $149 is an absolute steal - it's a lovely piece of furniture to boot!

Just recieved mine. Overall very happy with it! I feel the What HiFi review was particularly harsh perhaps due to the original price.
Sound is warm. Bass is light but still has presence. Balanced sound.
EQ Settings on the app are enough to adjust the sound to my taste.
Sound stage is as what the reviews say, not exceptionally wide but perfectly suited for the bedroom or small to medium rooms.
The Music Cast app works well, no issues.
          Clock is dimmable.
Also comes with a little remote.
          Looks fantastic.

        • @bangmango: Thanks for the quick review, great to hear you are happy with the unit.

        • @bangmango: Thank you for taking the time to post a mini review.

  • Not a bad price, but $20 shipping is a bit much. Otherwise I could be persuaded.

  • I'm interested, but how are the units powered? Battery or mains?

  • Dam it, just purchased it a couple of weeks ago from COTD eBay for 240.

Not a bad speaker, decent sound, not a great deal of bass, but solid overall when played at modearte volumes. Don't push it to the highest volume levels, starts to crackle.

Using it in the bedroom, hooked up to the wxa-50 via wifi. Musiccast is great, very simple to setup and use from your phone.

Clock has a werid format, hours on the top line and minutes on the bottom.

    • Is this unit able to be connected to a hifi set, through some form of audio-out?

      • +1

Physical inputs it has an AUX IN and FM aerial.

  • New? Or 2nds?

    • New - it is a discontinued model (we call it "New Run Out") but brand new in a box, with full 2 year warranty.

Bought one, exactly what I wanted for the kitchen to pipe audio through. Cheers OP
