Anybody else here training for the Scottish Rowing Indoor Championships in November ?
A wee bit nippy in November. Masters Games is closer to home and possibly warmer.
Has anybody used an aldi elliptical before? If so, is it worth getting? Or would I be better off getting something similar from ebay?
I'm also interested in those Bluetooth scales and how reliable they are for things besides weight.
Besides weight? Mate you're not going to find scales reliable enough to pick your kids up after footy practice. Just set a reminder in your phone!
Never EVER get a magnetic or water resistance ergo. They are a joke. Flywheel only. Hit up gumtree.
The Aldi has a 5kg flywheel though? It only has a magnetic break system.
Oh, right. Thread title is misleading. It's probably OK then.. for the price (clearly it's going to suck compared to a concept2. Then again this is cheap and most gym equipment ends up disused)
I think even my bike trainer has a 5kg flywheel :p
If anybody actually buys this, learn how to do a properly timed rowing stroke so you don't burn out uselessly. You come up the slide much slower to get rest.
And your thighs are your big muscles so you use them first to get you moving - arms come LAST. If you're a chicken leg hero and try to mostly use arm power you'll look like a fool.
Just bought the last one at Aldi Mudgeeraba.
There were no opened boxes so hopefully good sign no immediate returns.
So have you set up and used it? Would you recommend? I'm basic user and not looking something very high-end.
Sorry, have been too busy to take it out of the box so far… I might get a chance after 7PM one night (once home from work), or else next weekend.
Aldi have easy return/refunds, so I was willing to give it a go. Wife wants me to return it (without even trying it) but Im going to keep it for now.
Just built mine. Anyone understand what the front foot plates do? I've attached them to the front stabiliser as described in step 13 of the manual. They don't seem to add any value
Hey, missed seeing this comment until now.
I built mine up yesterday - although I havent used it yet (except a quick test in bare feat after building).
Yeah Im not sure either - I think perhaps for a partner to stand on when you are rowing hard out, so you dont slide the whole machine backwards ?
I am also unsure of the value of the screw in knob thing in front of the seating position - it prevents you from folding it up unless you remove/store the knob - and yet even without it the front and back of the machine seem to be held together well with the slide-bolt and screw-on-bolt..
Ebay has one lifespan rower model which is less than 300 aud.

7kg flywheel.
