I've tried this one before when I picked some up duty-free at BNE airport. A very nice drop, but because it's cask-strength most people may want to add a drop or two of water. I had a friend complain he didn't like it because it was too strong straight-up, I watered it down for him and he found it much nicer. I'm very partial to it at full strength.

RRP in Japan is 2400yen/~AU$28 (tax excluded) and most stores price it around this. ~$16 is an extraordinary discount.

Are you sure you didn't buy watered down whisky? Seems unlikely that it was cask strength.
In Japan they water down their whisky to avoid tax.

Yes, Dan Murphy's will price-match it or even beat the price by 50 cents cheaper when you visit the store (or $1 off if you're lucky).
The only problem is that sometimes the staff is reluctant to match the price claiming that the competitor store is not within 5 kms radius from them.
This is a really strong whisky at 51.4 percent. It's not to my taste, but my friend likes it.
