  • Great chair, great price. Since buying this chair, all of my wildest dreams have come true.

    • I know there is a little bit difference in price, but how does this compare to an Aeron, if you have used one?

      • I really like the comfort of the Aeron (used them at work), but I don't think the price gap is justified. I sit on my Metro for 8+ hours regularly and don't get uncomfortable.

      • -1

It doesn't, the Aereon is in a different league. Caveat: this is coming from someone with significant lumbar pain issues after surgery so I am not a typical user.

Ended up buying a Steelcase Leap though which is more expensive than Aereon. Easily the most comfortable task chair I've used. More comfortable than the Hermann Miller Embody although not as expensive. However I imagine that reducing quote price for Hermann Miller is a lot easier since Steelcase lock down their distribution very tight: one seller per region, no shipping to other regions.

You really should try chairs for significant periods. Like take a laptop in and actually do work or gaming for an hour. But with the leap I pretty much knew it was the right chair as soon as I adjusted it. It gives this sensation of holding your lumbar in a cushion. You should try it. Hideiously expensive though.

    • all of my wildest dreams have come true.

      ORLY?
      ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

      • Not sure if it's because I got the chair or voted for Pedro - same timeframe..

  • What's the seat cover made out of?

  • +1

Does anyone know where I can test sit on this chair? This seems to be the Ozbargainers office chair though I can never find a place to try it out before buying :(… Staples has no shopfront I can walk in and sit :(

  • +1

Exactly the Same time last year. Excellent chair. Got it for 239 with the same deal.

  • +1

For the life of me I can't find where to put in the coupon code. Checking everywhere on the shopping cart page and every step up until payment. Am I missing something?

    • +2

You have to register first. It should then appear on the top right before you pay

      • Awesome, thanks for that.

  • Best chair I have ever had :)

  • Bought one. Will be my official ozbargain office chair once it arrives :)

forgot to use cashrewards though. silly me..

  • I blinked and purchased a second hand (hardly used!) Buro Metro a month ago. No regrets though - it is THE best chair I've ever owned.

  • +2

A caveat for potential buyers of this chair, if your height is less than 170cm, you may have trouble comfortably placing your feet flat on the ground. The lowest height setting doesn't go that low, combined with the large depth of the seat make it hard for shorter folks to rest their feet flat on the ground.

    • I'm a smidge under 170cm and on the lowest setting my four legs hit the carpet…

(feizor raises a good point though!)

    • How about ~190cm? Good for us taller folk?

      • +2

        Should be perfect.

    • I'm 153cm and my feet are comfortably on the ground barefoot.

      • Unless they changed the gas lift in the last 2 years, you would have tilt the seat forward quite a lot to do that.

        • Perhaps. I bought mine 12 months ago. I also have my seat tilted back a bit.

  • Ahh damn, hopefully we get a price drop to $300 this year too. Been waiting since last July for this deal after I went to purchase at $239 at the last minute and my internet banking was down. \ D: / Lesson learnt.

  • Don't want to be a whiny lil' bitch but I paid significantly less than this for my Buro Metro and I still regret it. All because the back makes this annoying squeaky noise every time you lean back.

    • +1

      Mine did that as well!
Take the bottom back shroud off (two screws), then put it back on being careful not to make it too loose or too tight. Mine hasn't made a noise since I did that. Hope this works for you as well…

      • Just tried this and still getting it. Don't think it's the shroud. I just think a well made chair with an RRP of a few hundred should be better than this.

Next time I might try a dx racer or the like despite it's focus on gaming.

    • Stop being a whiny Biatch and lube up your chair and fix the squeak :p

      • Lol tried that but to do it properly would mean I have to pretty much disassemble the whole thing.

  • Cheaper version of the same chair available - nylon base instead of aluminium base. comes down to $239.

    http://www.staples.com.au/main-catalogue-productdetail/buro-…

    • I've got both and the cushion is different. The version with the nylon base has a much softer cushion.

  • Is the Aluminium Base worth it?
What benefit have people found with it? (Compared to the plastic/nylon)

  • Sitting on it now. Good chair.
    I would wait to $239

  • Can someone tell me, is there any PU "leather" in these things?

    • +1

None. The arms have a leather like texture but are entirely made of plastic which is semi hard.

      • Thanks, is the seat fabric?

        • +1

Yes, it's a heavy duty fabric.

        • @feizor:

          Thanks.

Bought one of these a few years ago. Took it back as it wasn't all that comfortable for the price. I found numerous Officeworks chairs to be more comfortable at less than half the cost (yes, I'm aware that most of the OW chairs have rubbish build quality and usually deteriorate in a year). While the build quality and warranty of the Buro is fantastic, those features are pretty irrelevant to me if the comfort isn't there to begin with.
I'm sure to some people this chair is very comfortable (otherwise it wouldn't get the hype it does) but I seriously recommend sitting on it before buying, it's not the Jesus Christ of chairs like some people make out.

If you can't return it in person I'd be very weary of buying it sight unseen as once assembled I could not separate the gas lift from the base for the life of me, which would've made it very difficult to ship back. I'm sure if I went all Chuck Norris on the chair I would've got it unstuck but I'm pretty sure I would've broke/bent something in the process.

Another issue I had was the chair emitted a very strong, unpleasant chemical smell. It smelt similar to melting plastic or paint fumes. A Whirlpooler mentioned it was probably due to the added flame retardants and his chair still had the smell remaining after a few months. I could've lived with the smell a few days or so but it was not something I'd want to smell for months on end.

It's kind of a shame that I found it uncomfortable as I couldn't imagine there's many other chairs with the same build quality and generous warranty for under $500.

  • Where do you put the code?

    • All good - need to make an account.

How does this compare to that?

Looks similar but I'm at a regional area so delivery is $20. Turns out to be around the same price. Would it be recommended?

  • Ended up paying 420 for the high back v2 version. Hoping it's worth the price difference.

Thanks OP. Chair delivered yesterday. I have been through a few of the cheaper Officeworks and Ikea office chairs over the years, but can really see the quality in the construction and design of this Buro one. Very impressesed, very comfortable.

    • welcome :)
