  • 3d and this would be perfect :D

  • my sister bought an AWA earlier this year and the tuner was crap compared to her previous tv… she ended up returning it…

      Bear in mind there's particular model Pioneer, Sony, & LG sets that have crap tuners with slow channel changes; it's not really a feature of any one brand, it's very much model dependent! ;)

    not surprising :D something gotta give on these cheap tellies…

    100Hz =/= 100Mhz

    • Lol, 100MHz TV will be awesome though

      • 100MHz bandwidth is OK for 1080p60, but nothing special.

        More seriously, does this do native resolution over VGA?

        Who cares about the built-in tuner? Much better to get a PVR or HTPC so you can pause etc.

        What does the USB do? Photos and AVIs?

          100MHz bandwidth? what are you talking about?

          its a typo for 100Hz lcd refresh rate.

          the tv tuner bandwidth is more like 60-800MHz.

          edit: and yes all full hd tvs with a vga input can do native res on vga.

          • @kimmik: Some tv's have limits on what resolution you can run with dsub, (vga connector). Always best to use DVI/HDMI.

            • @m0tyrider: Actually, it's the other way around! It's due to a HDMI scaling issue IIRC! ;)

              VGA=Native res IME! ;)

          • @kimmik: Yes, I'm talking about VGA, and yes I know it was a typo.
            I got an Acer TV from Big-W, and the picture is excellent over VGA. On many other TVs that is not the case.
            Good to hear full-HD ones are OK. Thanks.

    • Woops, updated. Thanks..

  • I'm done some Googling on AWA LCDs and the reviews say they're pretty mediocre. The price is very good though and I am really in need of a new TV. Anyone here got any comments on this model or similar?

    • For around the same price you can get a LCD/plasma name brand like samsung LG panasonic etc

        Not LED dude! ;)

      I had the old LCD 42" LTW42D, loved it but upgraded to 55"; it's still going great 3yrs on, in a family member's home! Always had great picture (1366x768), but I can't comment on DTV tuner as it was analogue only! :)

      My advice, go in, look at it, try it see if you like it…you've got a 3yr warranty & a major B&M chain as backup anyway! I haven't seen any other 42" 100hz LED sets at this price, well worth a look! ;)

      Write down the manufacturer's model number on the back/box/display too; try to find what it's a rebadge of, that should yield some actual data on the set! :)

  • LED or LCD??? You've got both words in your product description. But there is a difference between two!

    • So called LED tvs are still LCD display. Theyre only different by having led backlighting instead of ccfl backlighting. The op is 100% correct in his description

    • But there is a difference between two!

      Another one who has fallen for the marketing hype :(
      When real LED TVs are released, they will have to come up with a new name.
