    Other problem: no Band 28.

    And no Eneloops.

Not enough cheaper than a s8 on a good ebay deal. Considering my experience with gearbest.com it would need to cost significantly less to consider it

Mi Mix 2 due to be released within the next 2-3 months'ish probably reason for discount.
Rumours of October which is what I'm holding out for.

First one is a great phone nonetheless though.

There won't be any decent stock of the Mi Mix 2 (and the end of price gouging) until probably December, so IMO the Mi Mix is still a good buy.

It's neither a good buy nor a good phone.

Camera doesn't have OIS, deal breaker for me.

    • Agree

Runs Lineage OS. Minimum bezels and stock Android experience. Win

  • Is it really a gold? How much if I sell the gold part?

So nice.. MUST RESIST.. need the money for the Note 8.. :(

    • +1

You do realise the Note 8 would cost upwards of double the price of this phone, right?

lol. That's MORE reason NOT to buy this phone as a toy for now. So yeah..

  • $689 from AliExpress which includes DHL shipping.
AliExpress has 7% cashback which makes it a much more attractive route in my opinion.

I was keen on this when it was first announced but that was nearly a year ago… that being said, my Mi Max has been doing very well and was a far better 'budget' phone/phablet than I expected compared to my previous Zenfone Max which cost similar money.

    • How much was your Mi Max? I'm looking for a tablet, but phablets seem far better specs/$.

Bought the 32gb for S$349 when it came out in Singapore back in September 2016. Exchange rate is roughly 1:1 (AUD slightly stronger).

I have this phone. For anyone interested in it, a lot of reviewers are not covering the two biggest downsides for this phone: phone calls and camera. Camera is extremely ordinary. Phone calls, you won't be able to hear most of what the other side is saying because the sounds is 'vibrating' from underneath the glass. The closest I can explain is that it sounds like the person on the other side is using a car speakerphone that's incredibly terrible. MKBHD says how 'cool' this feature is but to be completely honest, it's the worst sounding phone ever.

Positives: Outstanding battery life from the 4400mAh battery and the 1080 display. Display is gorgeous. Fingerprint sensor is stupidly fast. DAC is good (sound out of headphone jack). OS comes down to personal preference.

If you use your phone to make a lot of phone calls or as a camera, don't get this phone.

    • I expect the 2nd gene generation of this device to improve on that technology. It is the one reason I haven't gotten one myself. Well, that and various annoyances I have with MIUI. If its successor proves to be heaps better, then they can shut up and take my money.

    • Thanks for the info, I think that puts me off buying it if there were no issues with the camera and phone speaker and it was running on Android OS I'd buy it in a heartbeat, would probably be the perfect smart phone too

      • I'd have a hard time recommending this phone even if it ran stock Android or even iOS. The call quality and the camera shots are that bad. Every photo you take looks like it was taken with a front-facing camera in low light. But I can live with low-quality shots. But that call quality is so bad that it ruins the phone for me. But putting those 2 things aside, it's probably one of the most beautiful phones, incredible battery life, MIUI is better than Touchwiz (subjective) - it's a pleasure to use. Best use-case? iPod. Not a daily driver phone.
