New Sony X8000d TV Has Yellow Vertical Line

So I ordered this TV from one of the click frenzy deals so around 2 months now

Been working great so far but today I noticed that there is a yellow line that goes vertically on one side of the screen

Is there something wrong in the panel or is it a software issue?

If it is a panel problem, I threw away the box it came in how would I go about returning it?

Furthermore I chose Sony as I was under the impression it was a reliable brand (old Sony TV lasted 5+ years) but it doesn't seem like the case so is it possible to get a refund on this possibly?

Thanks

  • What did Sony say when you contacted them?

    • Only noticed it when i came back from work today so they aren't open today. Just wanted to figure out if anyone's experienced this and if its fixable before I call them up on Monday

What did the ebay seller say?

Sounds like a circus board ;)

  • My Sony went after 3 weeks call the help centre they will have a tech go through a few checks with you. Then they will book a service tech to come out and check.

Your only entitled to a replacement if under a month anything else it's going to be a negotiation but Sony don't have a good track record with anything relating to a refund if thats what you mean by taking it back.

If it's the fact the tv isn't easy to move because of size don't worry all up to them they come collect and return as long as the fault is apparent. that includes taking it off the wall if it's mounted.

painful yes but it could be worse.

    • Thanks for the helpful answer (:

Its not mounted or anything so thats fine, how long did it take for them to collect yours and resolve the whole thing (did they give u a refurb or did they fix it)?

    complete kerfuffufle

Bought it Myers and because Myers had sold it under sony's retail price they would only repair so there was more arguments between myers and sony than anything else.

It took a few days i think might have picked it up Tuesday then returned it Thursday or Friday. mine was a straight panel swap they said bunch of dead pixels, i think it would have cost them more to repair and test.

They did give me a 47" tv to use while it was away
