Qantas Price Promise vs Garuda flight

Hi everyone,

I am looking to buy an international ticket from Qantas (have QFF. I want to use the points to upgrade to business class on the first leg, so I need to use "saver" fare for the first leg. Upon checking other flight, Garuda offers cheaper fare and I want to apply for price promise after I bought the ticket.

My question is, the price promise only applies for the same type of fare. Now with Garuda, there are 4 types of economy fare: Special Promo, Promo, Affordable and flexible. Meanwhile qantas has Sale, Saver and Flex. Has anyone done price promise from Qantas and match it with Garuda flight?

Thanks, appreciate it!

Reading the qantas website I think qantas price promise is if you book on qantas.com and find a cheaper price for the same qantas flight they will match it. I don't think they will match Garuda.

A screenshot from an Australian website, for the entire journey showing the same identical Qantas flight for a lower price, stamped with the time and date of the screen capture (AEST/AEDT) after you made your booking, -displayed on the screen capture.

  • I see, when I read this part, I thought it applies for the flight based on quickly reading this:

At qantas.com, we understand that everyone loves to score a great deal. This is why we offer a Price Promise on Qantas flights, hotels, cars, transfers, activities and cruises.*

If on the same day after your purchase (or, in the case of cars, book) any of these products at qantas.com, you find the same identical product is available to purchase on any Australian website, marketed to consumers located in Australia that is operated by a company with an active ABN/ACN, for a lower publicly available price, we'll match it.

    My bad!

    • identical product.

I see, when I read this part, I thought it applies for the flight based on quickly reading this:

Well, it would apply to flights too. However, only to qantas flights. So competitor airlines you would not be able to pricematch, but if you found "the exact [qantas]" flight cheaper on say webjet then you would be able to price match it

  • I tried it once, they would not match the price. I was pretty angry because airfares are non-refundable. You will find websites such as bestjet frequently sell tickets for less than the qantas website but they will not honor the price promise

I did it 18 months ago on a flight to London for my son and I. I found a cheap flight on an online travel agency but the feedback for the agency was bad. Instead I bought the exact same Qantas flight via Qantas.com then literally 20 mins later sent them through all of the details for the cheaper flights. Mine was literally the exact same class of seat on the exact same Qantas flight. They accepted the difference and emailed me within the day. I had to pay for the flight with Qantas at the higher fare but after i had flown they refunded me the difference between the 2 flights (about $90 each for my son and I).
