After losing my s7, ive been using this phone for a few months.

Great phone for the price. Everything is good apart from the camera.

    Battery life is amazing

Edit. I have the newer version

    • Do both SIMs work on 4G network?

      • +7

You can't have an active 4G connection on both SIMs at the same time. 4G is active only on the SIM used for data connection while the other defaults to 3G.

Camera is the only reason we still buy high end phone.

      • so true!

but then you end up sacrificing the HUGE battery :(

back to carrying around a powerbank :(

    • +3

The camera works, takes clearer pics than my s4 did, If you want to take good pics go buy a real camera.

I don't think it is good with low light.

        • Get more light then. It's a $150 phone.

        • Got this phone for the last few months. My other half also is running a RN3 Can confirm that it's pretty hopeless under low light. Grainy and blury due to slow shutter speed needed. Flash colour balance is also pretty unnatural.

Not good if you go out at night a lot and wants to record family memories. Good value for a phone but if you are into that group, worth while spending a bit more for one with a better camera to give yourself more flexability.

        • Camera quality depends on what sensor is in your RN4X, Sony (rare now and best) Samsung or Omnivision.
The Omnivision version is not good and seems to be more common in recent models.
Xiaomi squeezing for more profit by using cheaper sensor?

        • @xywolap:
This forum (in Spanish but you can get the gist) they report the specs of the RN4X they receive… item 3. is what the rear camera is.

I agree - I got one (4x not 4) from the Gearbest US$133 deal in July.

It's a great phablet and Gearbest sent it via DHL for an extra $15, so it got here in 4 days.

  • Thanks

  • The Gold phone is also available at the same price :)

  • Hi OP, do you mind asking me where did you get the coupon code from ?

Could anyone please explain the difference between HK warehouse version vs International Version for same Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X 4G Phablet.
    Cheers

    • +2

Follow the link I posted earlier (in my first comment)

      The review explains the difference

      • +2

Thanks mate but still all reviews looks similar tho, its either '4.9 Base on 1194 Customer Reviews' or '4.9 Base on 1201 Customer Reviews'.

        • Huh?

"Both the international and global editions are suitable for a UK audience, but we thoroughly recommend UK customers opt for the global edition given its support for all three 4G bands used by our major mobile networks. The international models do not support 800MHz/Band 20, which means customers of O2, GiffGaff and Sky Mobile won’t be able to receive 4G connectivity at all, and customers of other networks may find their 4G coverage more patchy in certain areas."

  • It says code expired when I tried to apply it.

  • +1

"The Code you entered has expired"

  • No 700mhz band 28 :(

    • +3

If your old phone has band 28 then yeah you might miss the speeds, but mine didn't so I didn't care.

  • the global edition is the same as the 4X right?

    • Correct, apart from the 4x missing band 20, but the global version has. Just make sure to get a snapdragon version! They're the same phone apart from band 20.

      • What is this band 20?

        • Just a frequency band (800mhz) which gives better 4g reception indoors, but no Australian Telco's currently use this band so not much point in getting the global version :P

Has an official build of Lineage OS available, which would make it stock Android (or better than, even):

Please be aware, gearbest may up to old tricks https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/313938

Put an order in for a Redmi note 4x 64gb for around $220 around 25 July - after pushing for updates every 4 days, the 'in stock/shipping' blew out from '2-4 business days' to '5-10 business days' by the time I cancelled my order on 14/8. Funny, ordered all the protective gear for the phone and its been sitting on my desk for almost a week :(

    • +2

yeah not buying anything over $1 from gearbest anymore

      after receiving 3 rusty spinner

  • Is this better than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Pro?

    • This is the 4X there is no 4 pro, the original Redmi note 4 is better but has worse but still good battery life.

      • Whole i meant Redmi Note 3 Pro

        • Worse CPU/GPU but quite a bit better battery life.

  • Would have jumped on this but coupon expired

This or $100 more for Xiaomi 5? On shopmonk ebay that Xiaomi 5 only costs for around $270 delivered.

    • +1

I ordered Xiaomi Mi 5 from Shopmonk, ordered on Tuesday, got dispatched notification on Wednesday with Tracking, Just checked the status on DHL Website & it's already on Australian Shores.

      Very impressed

      • Sounds fantastic. Thanks for the info.

  • I got a Xiaomi Redmi 4x (regular 32GB version, not the note variety) a few days ago from an eBay seller for $160. Haven't long-term tested it (i.e. dropped on the floor lots of times and scratched the screen in a variety of ways) but a lot of phone for the money. A better phone than my iPhone 4S which for $160 (even better value here if you don't mind a larger device) is pretty handy. The "flagship phone" snobs might sneer at anything less than the current flagship Samsung but for the rest of us this would be a solid replacement for an ailing phone (the battery capacity took a noticeable turn for the worse in my iPhone, would have kept using it otherwise).

  • I own one of these from the last deal. The tech is pretty great for the price.

  • +1

    code expired :(

  • Awesome deal OP!
