Even with the hefty postage costs this is approximately half the cost of our local hi-fi stores. Going rate seems to be over $1,100 per pair at the local websites I've checked out (e.g. https://www.westcoasthifi.com.au/product/definitive-technolo… ).

There are plenty of positive reviews available online for these speakers.

The smaller SM45 model is also available for a good price but given the postage costs it probably makes sense to go large. Unfortunately the even larger SM65 does not post to Australia.

  There is a German store called http://musicstore.de/ from which I will buy my monitors unless something changes, their shipping fees are very cheap, and since we are outside EU 20% of GST is excluded. Check them out.
  I am not sure whether they have your subject monitors, but they may have something similar.

  Are you sure these are studio monitors? They're not powered and appear to be simple bookshelf speakers. Possibly good ones, but still…

    Yes, these are essentially bookshelf speakers but the product name is "Studio Monitor". These are designed for your living room or wherever your hi-fi/home theatre setup is located.
