This offer is limited to first 500 claimants. All claims must be received by 19 November 2010. For any enquiries regarding this offer, please email [email protected] or call us on 1800 989 171.

Also as part of Nikon’s partnership with Surf Life Saving (SLS) $30.00 from the sale of every D3100 Digital SLR camera sold will be contributed to SLS.

Nikon D3100 is $799 at http://www.vanbar.com.au

I bought all of the following from Ted’s for $2150:
- Nikon D3100
- Nikon AF-S DX 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR
- Nikon AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8G
- SanDisk Extreme SDHC 16GB
- Lowepro Toploader Zoom 45 AW
- Lowepro Lens Case 1N
- Extra 2yr warranty

Alternative was Canon 550D, which would have cost about $600 more with equivalent lenses. Whilst it has better video (although no continuous autofocus like D3100) and LCD screen, Canon lenses are more expensive (and don’t include lens hoods like Nikon) and also in the case of the zoom, is larger and heavier, such that with the 550D body, the total weight is not balanced.

  • This is NOT a freebie, you are required to make a purchase…

    • Read the negative voting rules http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines

A mistake is not grounds for a negative vote

      • Huh?!?

This is what the guidelines said:
"Negatives left to ask for corrections to a post are also helpful (eg a condition left out of the title) but may be removed after the corrections have been made, either by the original poster or a Mod"

I can see where you are coming from though, by this sentence in the guidelines:
"IF a poster gets more than two negative votes the system, locks them out of posting again for 5 days. Is this what you want to happen to the poster, when it may just be a simple mistake."

But please re-read the whole guidelines again, and see that you are not really correct there, i.e. a negative vote is valid in this case, as long as it is retracted (either by self-retraction or by mods) when the mistake has been corrected.

You are right. I read a different section incorrectly.

But this is why I dont think a negative vote for a mistake is needed as the poster can be prevented from fixing the deal.

  • Correct. Please change, then I'll retract my neg accordingly.

  • sorry i would but can't because 2 negs result in a temporary ban :(

    • -3

      serves you right… i wasted a mouse click… >:(

      • sorry but didn't you read the title properly?

        • On that note, the title would be much clearer if you can also put the price of the camera.

Think about it this way, if you get $100 for $100 purchase, that's great. But if you have to shell $10,000 then $100 is nothing to be excited about.

          • @vwh: thanks done (btw the camera price was already in the body of the post)

            • -2

              @tonester: that requires a mouse click…

              • @jv: But you would have read the title which said the bag was free when you purchased the camera

                • -1

@anthony: nope, i was just clicking topics in the 'Freebies' section expecting them to be free…

                  • @jv: Posting three replies requires how many mouse clicks?

By the way, this deal is interesting. I'm going to let my friend know about this.

    • I've retracted my neg. Can you change it now?
Otherwise, please request the mods to change.

  • "This letter is to inform you that your claim has been successful and that you will be receiveing your Tamrac Velocity 7x Sling Bag within the next 60-90 days."

2-3 months?! Glad I already have the Lowepros!
