Who needs a FitBit when you got a Amazfit?

Got an email from Geekbuying about a smartwatch deal. This an updated English variant with english translated watch interface.

Reviews on the internet from beginning of this year gives it about 4/5 stars, however the price has dropped from $130 USD to $103 USD

Huami Amazfit
Available Color: Black, Red
Chip: Dual core, 1.2GHz
Memory: 512MB + 4GB
Compacibility: Android 4.4, or above; IOS 7.0 or above phones with BT4.0
Waterproof rating: IP67

Notable featureS:
* It plays music without a phone paired, by storing songs onto it's built in flash storage.

  • The screen is a reflective LCD kind, of which gives you better screen on times compared to a Samsung Gear Watch or LG Urbane for example.

  • It claims 11.6 days of pure watch usage, and 35 hours of GPS usage. Not sure how exact this is.

Also, there is a Budget square version of this watch which might be just as good, but looks like a Pebble. Note: Chinese language only US$58.99 with coupon code AMTCH

  • People will need to click this link to make it show as 102.99 US. Otherwise it'll be $104 US.

    • More interested in the new Amazfit Lite with the square-face and 45 days between charges.

Any discounts on the official International version yet, Clear?

      • +1

Still on preorder for the next 19 days. After that I should be able to provide a good deal.

        • Thanks mate. I'll keep an eye out for your deal.. :)

      • Damn just googled it. Looks like a fake Apple Watch =/

        • Because it has a square screen and a crown?
Arguably looks more like a Pebble Time with the LED display too but without a crown.

        • @bchliu:

Because it has a square screen and a crown?

          Yep lol

Arguably looks more like a Pebble Time with the LED display too but without a crown.

True actually. Kinda forgot about the Pebble Time.

Are there any fancy/cool features of this watch? Just lost my Xiaomi Mi Band 2 so might consider this..

        • @illumination: Supposedly even longer battery life than the Band 2 (which was also incredible in itself). Has GPS onboard and integrates with the Mi Fit app etc. Proper notifications come through etc. Basically half way between a Mi Band 2 and a real Smartwatch for less than 100 bucks and decent battery life.

        • +1

@bchliu: Haha sweet, that sounds quite tempting. Will definitely keep my eye out for it. Thanks.

        • Not as close as an Apple Watch as the; Xiaomi WeLoop Hey 3S

  • I think the square one has upto 45day battery. I have the round one, great value, seems to overshoot heart rate by about 20 beats. Also the gps lease or something keeps expiring about 2 times / month and makes you renew through the app.

    • +1

That's a pretty significant overshoot :( It wouldn't help me for interval training. Thanks for the info

  • +2

gee the reviews are super good - hmmm true/?

    • Great value for money. Yes heartbeat is about 15 to 20 beats per minute More, but just discount ur readings, no big deal. Battery lasts 5 days with constant heart rate monitor.

      • -1

Monitoring or using wildly inaccurate readings is a waste of time. Why not just take a guess without buying the watch?

        • Monitoring is consistently high, so just subtract it. No biggie.

    • I have been using one since Feb and it's good for that price.

  • damn if only i didnt buy too many normal watches …………..

It has impressive compacibility, especially for a watch that doesn't even know who it is. Huami? Howuldino?

  • The app is now pretty good too. Maps the run, splits, heart rate, pace…all I need. It is a runner oriented smart watch tho. NOT a general smartwatch. For example u can't reply to msg or take calls on it. Get it as a sport watch, NOT a smartwatch and it does fitness pretty well.

    • Guessing I'd be dreaming to think it may connect or export data that I can upload to Strava? :P

      • +1

actually only strava is supported by quick googling but do your own research please before buying

        • It does certainly sound like a tempting watch to purchase. Going to keep an eye on this as an option. Not too keen on the Fitbit Blaze or that, so maybe this is just something I would prefer :) From what I've been reading, the syncing with Strava seems a bit hit and miss on the International version, not that Strava is a must for me, just more of a want.

If anything, the only negative stuff seems to be software related, so that's a good thing, as things like that can certainly be improved. Hardware wise it sounds fine.

        • +1

Software is not too bad either, some versions it can get laggy, but they keep on releasing updates to the firmware. Last one was about 3 weeks ago. The device is great value. It is NOT the best watch out there, but neither are you paying premium prices. For runners it is worth considering. Choose for yourself.

And it sure stands out from Fitbit devices which everyone seems to have. I went from Charge HR to this, it was an excellent upgrade.
