  • Showing as 15 dollars for me.

    • Starts tomorrow

      • Get to Bunnings before they match it

        • On Wednesday, if you go early youll only tell them to match it.

        • -2

          Don't think Bunnings even have these, at least last time I checked.

        • @Scab:
          I think I've seen them recently. Much smaller than the original 13W. Clear plastic packaging as well

        • -6

          @Scab:

          Not on their website: https://goo.gl/4T7hEc

          And to whoever negged me, why don't you provide a link instead seeing you know better?

        • @Scab: In boxes at least they do. I have one here and all my LED globes came from Bunnnings. Philips 13w, BC.

        • -6

          @Tuba:

          Yes but their stock changes from time to time, currently they don't have them and haven't done for a while.

          I know this because I've been hunting LEDs in-store and asked them and been checking their website.

        • -6

          @Scab:

          Have fun using up all your daily neg allowance, then you'll have to go through neg withdrawal.

        • @Scab: Maybe its your stores… Im fairly confident these are a constant item at my local. Usually around $15-17.

        • @Tuba:

          Bought some yesterday at my local Bunnings, so I'd say you're correct.

        • -5

          @jayz:

          Sure you did, pic and receipt?

        • @Scab: Sorry mate, but all my LED bulbs come from Bunnings as they are the only one who regularly have one or two on sale, and I definitely have a 13w Philips bulb in a box.

        • -1

          @Tuba:

          I never said you didn't buy it from there at some stage, just that they currently don't have it on their website and any stores that have it would be old stock and/or a Special Order, so price matching isn't going to work.

          • Still waiting for Jayz to upload his receipt as he said he bought them yesterday.
        • +1

          @Scab:
          Scab keeps posting till the neggers run out of votes LOL

        • @jayz:

          Still waiting for your receipt and pic for yesterday's so-called purchase?

    Very good globe. Changed all home lamps to these in last sale. Bought $7.50 from Woollies, then found it $7.4x in bunnings

    • +1

      A bit bright for home lamps I would have thought. Getting this for my garage.

    • They are good, I have the 11w ones as main lighting.
      I'd recommend the cool white (warm is too yellow) as they are somewhere in between a supermarket fluorescent tube and the old style incandescent globes which makes them appear more natural imo :)

      • +5

        And Id recommend the warm, its much better with colours.

      • +5

        I'd recommend the cool white

        I prefer cool white in the laundry, white appliances look awesome, like a showroom.

        But for bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen I prefer warm 2700K-3000K as white looks too sterile and like an operating room, plus it makes me look uglier than I really am.

        • Hehe to each their own I suppose. I think the problem with the warm ones in our place is it reflects off the floorboards and onto the white walls, making everything look orange :p

        • +2

          @Mister Plod:

          Yeah, it really depends on your decor.

          My laundry wall is light blue so cool white looks awesome.

          The rest of my house is beige/brown and warm white looks good, only thing I don't like about warm is that it doesn't "appear" to be as bright as cool.

          Anyway, that's the good thing about LED, you can pick whatever suits and what you prefer.

        • @Mister Plod: I think I prefer old incan light, and those were warm anyway.

  • Thanks OP!

    Got these the other day and that your super before the money. Have tried many different types in the past and got to say these are the best so far for the wattage.

    • We have the same type of downlights in our study. They're amazing. Probably should change all of our downlights to these.

      We currently have a mix of those older halogen downlights, and slightly newer compact fluorescent downlights – the latter of which are horrific in terms of longevity (and they're quite ugly and big).

  • waiting for the 2000lm ones to be 1/2 price. But i Use some of these for now.

  • Anyone know if these are dimmable?

    • +1

      No, I had to get switch rewired to remove dimmer as even at full brightness it caused flicking.

      • Thanks. Got a dimmable lamp, so looks like these are no good for it.

        • +2

          It's not that simple with LED, not all dimmers will work and there are trailing edge and leading edge dimmers.

          If your lamp dimmer is for incandescent you won't be able to use it with LED.

        • @Scab: Oh, had no idea. I bought the lamp from IKEA (as-is section) and then got a dimmable globe from Bunnings. But it responds oddly, can't turn on slowly and then stays on when I turn the dimmer off! I need to do more research into the lamp type. Thanks for the heads up! It's a Varv Table Lamp by the way.

        • @Nitrous:

          Your lamp should be fine with a dimmable LED, on IKEA's page it says LEDs are ok.

          LEDs won't dim all the way down though like traditional bulbs, but it should work better than what you've experienced.

          Sometimes it's just a matter of trying different brand bulbs until you find a suitable one.

        • @Scab: Silly thing is that the IKEA bulb is cheaper than the one from Bunnings. I was not near IKEA at the time I bought the one from Bunnings. Will end up buying the IKEA bulb and if that fails then I'm returning both lamp and bulb to IKEA.

        • +1

          @Nitrous:

          Also keep an eye out for ALDI dimmable, I bought a heap and wasn't expecting them to work well, hooked them up to a cheap switch dimmer from eBay in my lounge room.

          To my shock they dim great, to about 30% and they dim smoothly and gradually.

          There is a tiny delay when I first turn them on, but that happens with a lot of LEDs and it's hardly noticeable.

          If you want something that dims all the way down you'll have to go halogen, will still work in your lamp.

  • These a great bulbs generally, will be buying a number to retrofit work.
    The warm white are good if a little "golden" but I found the cool white to be very much on the blue side (quoted as 6500k) which certainly isn't "daylight"

  • So we don't have LEDs in our home yet. Is it alright to put cool daylight globes around the entire house? Does it create a dull sort of vibe? I've heard that warmer globes are better for bedrooms and living areas..

    • +3

      No they don't create a dull vibe, it's almost the opposite problem, they seem harsh and bright, almost like a hospital. The warm white ones are better for a more relaxing/cosy atmosphere.

      Personally I would never want a cool bulb in a bedroom or living area because it's way too harsh for my eyes, but it comes down to personal preference. Some people much prefer the cool bulbs.

  • Not philips brand but bought a 3pk at Costco for $12 the other day for those that have membership

  • Will these be ok for outdoor or outdoor sensor lights?

  • Marrabella sell the perfect tint bulbs they are 4300k (rated by them) they seem more like 5000k to me so NW. They are the perfect mix between output and colour retention. To me the Phillips bulbs are either to red 3000k or to blue 6500k but you can't beat this price.

    • from my experience the mirabellas tend to fail after several months.

      • Mine are from 2015 they have been in daily use for a few years. Could be a better make.

        What fittings are you using them in? I have found Phillips to have the worse heat sinking out of all i have tested.

        • philips use ceramic heatsinks which are the most efficient.

  • It's tomorrow now ,but still showing as $15?

  • Bought 11 bc Warm for pickup, hope they suit.

  • 806 lumen, are $5 too.

    • thanks - deal updated :)

  • Just tried the warm white. Holy moly, they are bright. I got 12W LED downlights, and these blow it out of the water

  • Are these suitable for a normal size bedroom?
    I'm using a 850 lumen or so atm, and I feel it is sufficient but I could go a little brighter.
    I'm just not sure if these would be blindingly bright for a bedroom

    • I think it would be a bit bright for a bedroom, unless it was really big.

      It's almost double what you have now, try something like 1000 if you want slightly brighter.

  • Still full price in a couple of Perth stores I visited earlier. but maybe they haven't updated the stickers.

  • Thanks OP

  • I tried these, but they are too wide to fit in our ceiling fans. Can anyone recommend an led
    LED globe that is bright, and thin?
