Hi OzBargain,
I am hoping for some assistance on this. My employer is able to provide me with a laptop (I realise a desktop would be better, but is not an option since I will also be using it to work at home) that will mainly be used for image editing and video rendering. My understanding that a higher number of cores in the processor makes for faster rendering but it will also need to be snappy for large Photoshop files.
What would be the best option in the range of;
1) Sub $1000
2) $1000-$1500
3) $1501-$2000
Thanks in advance
If video/editing is key here, I would forego the first 2 levels and just look purely at ones above $1500. You can't skimp on power for editing and rendering video. I would go with an i7 cpu at least, and up the ram to 32gb and don't forget the video card. The latest ones probably comes with 4GB GPU and that'll be very useful for you. In this case, you get what you pay for — and if your boss is footing the bill, then go for the best available to maximize your productivity
