  • Using code 11nov091 to bring it down to 555.99 usd

    • +3

Also "MIX264GB" to get it down to $549.99USD/AU$689.60.

      • Great. By the way, do you know any code for 128GB version? Otherwise I may order from Aliexpress and get 6% cashback.

        • I'm not sure how cheap Aliexpress have it for but you can get it down to $601USD/~$768AU with "XMMIX2IT".

        • @doweyy: it says the code can't be used for orders to Australia. Probably only for Italia. Aliexpress has it for 620 usd including DHL shipping.

        • @hawkeye10:

Wait really? I have my location set to Aus and it works for me? That's weird..

Sounds like AliExpress is a better deal with the cashback from my perspective.

        • @doweyy: can you take screenshot? So weird..

        • @hawkeye10:

Here you go, that's really unusual if it works for me but not for you..

        • @doweyy: it seems like the subtotal doesn't change. Can you check if the final price is 601 usd in the checkout page please?

        • @hawkeye10:

Oh yep, you're right.. Must've been a glitch in my account as now it says it doesn't work for orders to australia, sorry about that.

        • @doweyy: i missed the 605.99 usd coupon a week ago. Still waiting for another one. I'm not sure if 64 GB is enough for normal use.

        • @hawkeye10:

You can also get it for $611.35USD @ Banggood using "BGMIX2128". This comes with 6-9 Day shipping and 4.2% cashback. Stock arriving on the 30th, however shipping may be slightly delayed due to the chinese holiday period.

        • @doweyy: Thanks, so basically the same with Aliexpress after cashback.

        • @hawkeye10:

Just thought I’d come back and say that the GB price has now dropped to $599.99 USD / $752 AUD with “MIX2128GB” :) They offer 1.6% CR so this seems like the best option.

        • @doweyy: thanks. Which site offers 1.6% CR though? Anyway, i pulled the trigger this morning on one of stores on Aliexpress. 619.99 usd including DHL shipping so after 6% CR, it still be a little bit better than GB. I've already had the tracking number too.

        • @hawkeye10:

No worries, I believe that GB offers 1.6%, enjoy your new phone!

        • @doweyy: Cashrewards offers 2.1% for new user and 0.7% for existing one. However, the exchange rate on Gearbest is really good if paying in AUD.

Awesome find, this is looking way too tempting now

Im going to cop flack for saying this. But here it goes

Ive had three xiaomi phones recently. They are great value for money. I paid $200 for them each

Ive boughr a few for friends and family.
Unfortunately two of mine have broken down.
Both were sent back to china.

One took three months to repair. One went missing in transit. The repaired one that came back has the original problems fixed but a new problem has arisen.

Unless there is an aus repair centre. I think paying $600 for this model is asking for trouble

No flak here. My housemate has a xiaomi, it keeps freezing, screen won't turn on sometimes, random restarts.

I think the model was cheaper than this but still seems like very little QC has gone into the product overall.

I had one I got from geekbuying that lasted a total of two hours of gentle use. It died randomly and never could be revived again. Was a faulty motherboard.

Other one behaving ok so far.

If it was an El cheapo like Redmi note 4x or something, I'd take the plunge. A $600 from China no thanks!

I'm with you. Taking a gamble on $700+ phone with essentially no warranty (let alone local warranty) is madness IMHO. If it was $300, sure it's worth the risk. If I was going to import, I'd probably go for a Samsung, iPhone, etc which at least has a wide range local repair options.

        • +1

$200/$300 is still a lot of money considering the risk. With OP's story of 3 out of 3 phones having issues (I know I know anecdotal) I would consider paying more for local phone without the hassle.

Anyone have a Xiaomi phone for more than a year without issues?

        • @sniper: Yep have a Redmi 2 Pro as daily drive (light user) for the last two years no issues at all. Only reflashed original MIUI version to get rid of dodgy vendor rom.

        • @sniper:

MI4I,Redmi 3,Redmi note 3 and a Mi5s here. They're all going fine but the Mi4i has a software bug involving browsers from day one.I cant readily flash a new/offical ROM over the re-seller one because of the locked bootloader.

I've gotten these phones within a month or 2 of release (excluding the mi4i which was at the start of this year) and they've all held up decently. Somewhere along the way google assistant has somehow made its onto the Mi5s as well.

    • Indeed, Xiaomi can only win on low-budget smartphone at the moment. Spending >$500 for a chinese brand phone is too much of a risk.

  • This or OnePlus 5?

I've had good experience with Oneplus in the past but do like the look of this and like Xiaomi too. Any major differentiatiating feature I should be aware of?

    • Wait.. Bezel-less phones are all the rage. A number of "Mix" Chinese clones have been just been released. Wait for the big names to catch up.

    • If you buy the Oneplus from their website (aussie soft launch), you will get 2 years warranty.
You also get a free sandstone cover, and the opportunity to buy the car charger with an additional cable for $25 (worth it).
There are 2 other accessories sold at a discount if you buy the phone (headphones and a carbon case).

I like mine - very thin (makes my iphone7 feel thick).
The Xiaomi has a gorgeous looking screen and a ceramic back

      • Oneplus are also throwing in a pair of Bullets V2 earphones free with the phone as well atm

  • Can anyone help. How do I get cash back 6% from Aliexpress.

    • use cash rewards to get 6% cash back

  • I saw the video reviews of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 - a really nice looking phone, but yeah, at this money, I bought a OnePlus 5 as I really wanted the warranty.

  • +1

I rather get s8+ at this price.

  • Indonesia has its third Mi Home Store opened this week. If we need official store and local warranty here in Australia, we need more poor people or more willing to buy cheap Mi product people. :)

    • I wouldn't consider a $700~ phone 'cheap'

      • You need to consider how much you pay for a similar specification Samsung/Apple/HTC…

        • I paid $730 for S8+ last week.

  • What's the advantage over a OnePlus 5? Other than bigger screen size (if that's something you like) the camera's worse and specs basically identical.

Guess it comes down to camera or screen size?

Edit: and quick charging differences, but again it's equal beyond personal preferences. Either way it's not worth an extra $200 imo

    • This has smaller bezels and hopefully the screen is installed the right way up.

      1+5 has local warranty

other than that, there's not much in it…

      • hopefully the screen is installed the right way up.

Wait, was this a thing??? LOL

        1+5 has local warranty

You pay for the warranty effectively, it's around $500 grey stock or $599 local. Still is a nice thing to have.
