Should I Upgrade to Xbox One S?

Last year i bought an Original Xbox One 500GB off Gumtree for $165 after selling some games and accessories. In recent weeks, it has had difficulties connecting to controllers. I bought a new Micro USB cable and now it connects fine, but only wired. Sync button also docent work. EBGames have offered $110 cash for trade-in.

Should I buy this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/334148 for $299 and trade in my Xbox and sell Forza Horizon 3 for $40-50 (I already have it) to get an Xbox One S with Forza 7, (worth $59) for $150. Im tempted but i would like your opinions. I am interested in Forza 7 and may end up buying it later down the track.

  • Why trade it in to ebgames ? You could propably sell it yourself 2nd hand for $150. If you think it is worth upgrading for the price difference, then you should do it. Also you get 4k bluray replayability and 12 months warranty.

When the S was released I traded my Xbone in and with their promo, it ended up costing me $40 after I sold the game that came with it. It was worth it.

Yes worth it, won't be any deals on the X until Dec-18

    • I'd say more like mid-January.

But the more important question is: why Xbox?
There's the PS4/PS4 Pro with its more diverse titles, and arguably better support.
Or there's the PC Gaming side where you have an actual computer, emulation, free multiplayer, cheaper games, more games, unlimited backwards compat, loads of mods, always the "definitive" version, better graphics, and overall a longer lifecycle*

Besides most third-party titles on the Xbox One is shared with the PS4.
And most first-party titles on the Xbox One is shared with the PC.

*People from 2011 who built their Gaming PC's with Windows 7 Pro, i5-2600k, 16GB-DDR3 2133, small SSD, large HDD, and a HD7970… and that can still surpass what the PS4 Pro can dish out in 2017. Although, its probably time for a Coffee Ryzen upgrade.

  • Yeah, the Xbox S is better than the original in my opinion but the Xbox X will be out soon though..

  • do it, sounds reasonable.

Unless you wait for the Xbox X (but then you may not get that much for the trade)

If you were going to dish out more money for upgraded technical specifications, you'd be much better served by a gaming PC.

    Trade it.

    a) your current Xbox already has problems, trade before it becomes worthless landfill.

    b) EB will give you $150 now, but come 6th November it’s almost guaranteed they will have reduced the trade in value to coincide with the release of Xbox one X

  • I'll keep my Xbox One mainly because it's the Halo Edition.

I'd Wait till One X is out as the S will come down once it is.

Build a gaming PC, get rid of xbox built to break crap.
