  • Safe: Thunder-proof design

    Thunder-proof ???

    • +2

      Maybe they meant surge-protected??

      • -1

Oh… I thought they resolved the issue where people with excess flatulence were destroying the globes.

        • My farts are capable of destroying the globe.

  • -6

    Under US$7 is post worthy

    This, is not

    • I tend to agree, if this was the RGB version sure…but i think maybe people are getting confused.

    • +2

Ok boss take it off if you're not happy

      • -7

Not my position to. You're the one that stated "good price" which is kinda deceptive to your fellow community members.

        • +3

Imho, I believe it is, might not be the lowest but still not a bad price.

      • +1

The post is great, thank you for posting!

        • +1

Yes, it's an excellent example of how to use bullet points.

  • Which Mi App to use to setup? Anyone?

    • Mi home

      • Thanks. Do I need to set it up saying I am from China/Singapore or do I use Australia?

        • China/Singapore

    • +1

I recommend the yeelight App. Singapore Server.

      • Ok. Thank you

  • 4000K is not pleasant. At all. I cringe whenever I see houses or apartments from outside with these lights on. Looks like a bloody hospital.

    • -1

This is dimmable and can be set to warm colour as well.

      • +2

can be set to warm colour as well

No you can't. Don't mislead others. CT is a fixed 4000K.

        • I stand corrected, yes this is fixed 4000k but brightness can be adjusted.

        • +1

@jominix: This is the one you want, 3000K - 5700K.

        • @m9:

Yeah, I've got that, the RGB version and this white bulb, hence I got confused with the colour temperature of all the different versions.

        • +1

@jominix: Thanks to all these posts I too got the complete collection :)

        • @m9:
Does this work with standard Phillips software, and Google home?

        • +1

Good to know. I purchased one of these on a previous deal just to check the actual colour before buying more.
I found that I couldn't get a 'warmth' I was happy with with the RGB either - always looked either white or kind of 'peach'.
The philips ones seem the best bet for replacing standard white globes.

          @flux:

You have to use the Yeelight or Mi home app and set the server to Singapore to make it work with Google Home

        • @jominix: sadly it doesn't work with yeelight and the mihome is so terrible I cannot change the light color.

    • 4000K is not pleasant.

You must really hate daylight then (5000K – 6500K). Are you a vampire?

      • You must really hate daylight then (5000K – 6500K). Are you a vampire?

I like daylight during the day. Not inside, and at night.

FWIW 4000k is called "neutral" white as opposed to "cool" white which is in the 5000k range. Some of the more awful places have stacks of cool white bulbs as - for the same cost - they pump out more light so seem better value. 4000k is better but even so, I agree that 4000k is too cold for anything other than working in an office environment - I'd suggest that 3500k would be the max, with somewhere between 2700 to 3000 best. I recently got the RGBW yeelight bulb and the 'smart' desk lamp and like being able to set the temperature - not just the brightness - to something that suits what I need the light for……

  • I am slow, how do these work in Australia?

  • +2

Thanks OP! Not sure how useful it will be but finally got one.

  • Expired already?
I've been waiting for a sale on these for the last week or so

  • Does Yeelight make any light bulbs that produce more than 400lms of brightness? I've got the RGB LED bulb and it would be good if there was a brighter version. Phillips Hue bulbs are 600-800lms which would be ideal if not for the price.

so, for people using ok google voice command with this bulb at home, we need to keep the wall switch to on all the time, correct?
will it be dangerous or not (hazard, fire, etc) you think?

    • Yes, you have to keep the wall switch turned on if you want to control it through your phone or Google home, I don't think it's dangerous, most IoT smart devices need to connect to your wifi or gateway in order to be controlled remotely. It will be in a standby mode but consumes very less power.

      • ok so it is not the same as leaving the normal light bulb on 24x7x365, that was my concern (heat, fire, etc). thanks

        • +2

          = 61,320

        • No, you have to turn off the light from the App or Googe Home, or set a schedule when to turn it On or Off. You can buy a $4.82 Smart Switch too that you can place anywhere in your house.

        • +1

@jominix: sorry my reply wasnt clear:
i have already got the google home voice command working to turn the light off, but usually i still go and turn the wall switch off after that - but obviously next time i cant use voice to turn ON (as there is no power)

so my query was, as im thinking to leave the wall switch on all the time, will this create heat and danger? (wall switch on all the time means i can ok google turn on and off)

        • @perksie89: good bot

Hey I have problem connecting to Mi App. It downloads the upgrading software but then switches to asking to reset the bulb, which I’ve done already. Repeat and the same thing happens. Anyone else having this problem? I may have a faulty bulb?

    • +1

Same here, can’t connect with Mi Home (device offline) or Yeelight app (stops at 25% config). Have tried Singapore as the server, have done multiple resets. What a frustrating product!

      • Got it to work at the end, after 6 or so resets. Very frustrating. Still haven’t figured out what Google can do in terms of dimming/changing the colours via voice commands.

      try the Yeelight App
