Great buy as this has the power pack and is water proof

  • Waterproof

What's the actual IP rating though?

    Rated Power (W): 90W

If the power supply is more than 5A, this is a good buy at this price.

Some reviews say that the transformer emits a buzzing noise.

Also it should be made clear whether this has white or not.
I can never figure that out with these.

I don't know about 5630 SMD but your best bet is 5050 RGBW (or WW for Warm White).

Standard 5050 SMDs are tri-chip LEDs, which means in every LED there are (3) smaller chips. For RGB, there are Red, Blue and Green chips inside each LED and the colours are mixed via the controller. By specifically choosing RGBW/WW, you get a quad-chip LED tape, which the fourth chip is a dedicated white, or warm-white colour.

      E.g from eBay: 5M RGB + Cool White/ IP65 Waterproof/ Remote + Power included >> AUD $20.88

Well, I just bought one. And some lucky bags. Cos I'm bored. I've got a yeelight led strip, looking forward to comparing the 2. I know this is not wifi/app, just a remote. And yeah, Itdoesn't do white. It's essentially separate red, green and blue leds on a strip. So nice for Christmas, useless for mood lighting, unless it's in a strip club. I suppose theoretically if the rgb leds are all lit together, from a distance they might look white. That's how your old telly used to work anyway…

  • I've been doing a fair bit of reading up on these and others like it - hopefully someone with more knowledge can answer if I was to purchase 4 sets of these if the remotes would all be same IR codes etc? Ideally I want to be able to individually control 4 areas in a display cabinet (4 different colours at any given time / ability to turn one section off without turning them all off) Seems with IR I'm going to get all or nothing?

    • I would assume that they all use the same frequency IR. If you want to get a bit more fancy, you could replace the controllers with wifi ones for fairly cheap. (For the geeks out there, home assistant can also control these): https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/DC12V-Led-Wifi-Cont…

I presume you would need to get the RGB not RGBW

      • Thanks for that man, will look into it. I have a LimitlessLED/miLight wifi control box laying around somewhere too that looks similar. My real aim is to get it going with my Logitech Harmony so having it IR was a bonus, but if I can some how integrate the Harmony with the WIFI then I'll have what I need. Cheers :)

        • Im no expert but may be have a look at Samsung smart things hub. I believe it had a price drop on amazon recently. I believe it functions with harmony remotes

  • Received today lol wow one month to the day!

  • Transformer (12V @800ma) failed after 2 hours use😠
    Replaced with more powerful transformer.
    Lodged complaint.

Nice bright lights, but no real white setting. Great value even after replacing faulty transformer.

  • I also got a faulty light… very disappointed!

    • That's not good👎
Impressed with light & remote - just the transformer failed. Swapped over transformer & all good.
