LOL, EB is already pretty difficult with this sort of stuff. I can see a high chance of their casual drones trying to get out of corporate policy (yet again) by claiming that they have not heard of this promotion.

But + for if it does work (hopefully) :)

I can see it happening too, but this is obviously a promotion organised by Corporate EB Games and MyFun/Warner Village Theme Parks. So they should be aware*.

  • yessss good one.. i was waiting for osmething like this.. i got a bunch of xbox games im never gonna play again so im gonna take dem in.. Thankyou !

  • EDIT: Whoops didn't look at the coupon. Stickers/coupons in store differ slightly and so my comment below is for them, not this deal..

Yeah, you can combine this with Edge +, and you can get the coupons from stores (my store has hundreds of them), so casuals have no excuse.

    Also, it excludes hardware.

I also was just at the EB website.. noticed until 24/11 u get $10 extra for each 3 games u trade

    http://www.ebgames.com/gs/specialty/tradeins/

it does however say that this is not to be used in conjunction with any other offer, so i guess u would use whichever one gave u the best deal out of 20% extra or $10 extra for 3 games. Prolly be the $10 extra if they are crappy cheap games, and the 20% if they are worth more.

    • correction.. my bad that is EB USA.. sorry

  • how do you open .ashx files?

so trade in black ops for $96 + 15% with edge plus 20% with coupon?
uhhh..what does that end up being? =P

    • $129.60c.

They better honour that though, and I bet they'll try and say no.

      • haha i thought so, so even above the sale price.
you could even just buy one from them on the spot and trade in for a couple of extra dollars.

  • EB trade values are dismal at the moment.

That COD BO deal is reasonable though. They have no reason to refuse, I did it when they had Fallout 3 on a tradeback deal and got i believe $124 using a webmail 15% coupon, which they dont give out anymore.

I might trade my copy of BO in and make some profit with this coupon.

  • wish i could trade in the PC version of black ops since it's a buggy piece of crap (large amount of people way above the minimum requirements with problems)

  • console is buggy as well.

  • Anyone know how much can you get from Black Op ?

  • Can you trade in for a giftcard or do you have to spend the credit right away?
And is there an age minimum for trading in games in NSW?

    • ive traded in for gift cards before.. u get the full credit.. but if u want cash u get a bit less so its best to get a gift card

    • In some states you can trade in for a gift card, in some you have to spend the credit right away. I believe NSW you can't put it on a gift card, but you may be able to put it as a preorder towards something and have the credit stored on the system
The minimum age for trading in games is 18

As for cash, the stores that allow it give you 20% less if you request cash.

      • Nope just read up their website, they say for NSW it's 16 years old :D And you can trade towards anything else in store…. (so much for no gift cards?)

  • Do you think GAME would match this deal? Kinda locked in with a pre-order, so I can't bring it to EB.

Edit btw with the EB deal, don't you have to have purchased Black Ops from them to be able to trade it /back/? I thought that they wouldn't accept purchases from other stores and had to show them an EB receipt…

    • +1

GAME probably won't match the voucher, but they may match EB's $96 trade in value. They have lots of advertising saying they will give you the most value for your games, so it would seem like false advertising if they do not.
I have had them even beat EB's trade values before. This all kinda depends on the store, and who's working.

Also, trade in requires no original receipt, just the game.
They have a return policy where you can return a game within 7 days if you do not like it, that requires the receipt but is a different thing all together

    • lol mate, of course you do not have to have bought it there. By trading it in it ties you to their store, so its a win for them.. you will spend your money in their store over somewhere else. do you realise that you are trading in, not returning a game? For trading in you do not need a receipt lol.. just ID.

      • Cool. Wonder how long it will take them to cotton on to the JB deal then. Surely they can't be making money out of this? Get it while it's hot, I guess!

  • +2

they will make money because they will sell the game to a soccer mum or little kid for $109 preowned.

anyone used it yet with black ops? considering trading my copy in on monday with the 20% off voucher because i won a copy online. if i return it i will be inelgibile for the bar fridge comp so trading in for more than i paid seems to be the go.

    • Yeap just did it at Bankstown EB Games and Game, and boy where they surprised when I traded it in for $115.20. :D

And for those with an edge card, confirmation that it stacks, at least that's what the manager at Bankstown said to me (I didn't try it because forking out $30 for an edge card didn't seem worth it to me)

  • yeah then edge card is a rip off, definately wont be getting it. the old edge card was free with purchases over $100 or $10 otherwise and it gave 10% off preowned as well.
I dont care about a magazine subscription and you lose the preown discount on the new one.

Thanks for that though mate, I paid $79 for my copy at midnight launch so might trade it in on Monday for $115.20 and put some of that towards assasin creed and fable 3. Hopefully my copy comes in the mail sometime next week cause i do like the game =D.

  • Oh as for whether EB will know about this 20% offer or not. The store had a HUGE stack of these "bunny" vouchers behind the counter which they scan when you present this coupon. So yeah they definately know about this offer.

  • does this work in sydney? im going to try soon.

  • DID NOT WORK!

Attendant called over the manager who said that it can't be combined with the offer 'because obviously we cant give more than you paid'. Sounds like BS to me because you can use the 15% EDGE card.. but whatever.

In hindsight I probably should have returned it and got my $79 back but meh. $17 extra, im sure ill find something to spend it on.

    • Unlucky man. Just them trying to get out of it. I don't think it says anywhere that they can't trade it for more than they sell it.

  • yeah its probably somewhere in the 'standard eb trade policy applies' cause the assistant got the book out briefly before the manager came over and flat out said no. seemed to be a guy with a bit of a short straw/tight arse so maybe he wanted to get out of it. assistant was a good bloke though, very good customer service. im sure if the manager wasnt there they would have done it. usually theres only 1 or 2 guys in store, today there was 4 lol.

    • Yeah when i weant the assistant said this offer still falls under the "eb trade policy", she didn't call the manager and was already in the process of trading it in, but the manager came over anyway and I had a little chat to him about if the coupons could stack ontop of each other like, the special trade back offer+ edge card + the 20% extra, and he said yes "of course".
