Credit Card Suggestion for Online (Overseas Business) Purchases

Hello Ozbargainers,

All my banking is with Commbank. I also have a Citibank Debit Visa card which I only use when I travel overseas. Otherwise, there is no money in that card.

My question is, if I want to buy from overseas sellers, what is the best way to do it as I don't want to be buying through my Commbank or Paypal because of the higher charges. The easiest option that came to my mind is to apply for a 28 Degrees MasterCard for any online purchases from international sellers. If you have any any other suggestions, please let me know.

BTW, If I get a 28 Degrees card, I would not use up the limit and pay interest. I will pay off the international transaction straightaway using my money in Commbank which means I will never be spending money that I don't have.

Cheers

    • Thanks. Divipay still doesn't seem to be hassle or fee free completely. Will see how it goes.

Hi, DiviPay rep here! We have recently upgraded our platform making it easier to generate and manage your virtual cards. Our platform is fee free and we provide one of the most competitive fx rates on the market, again without any additional fees. We have added a conversion calculator to our website so you can see our current rates! Using a virtual Mastercard also protects your privacy whilst shopping online, especially at overseas merchants. As our product is still very much in its infancy any feedback or suggestions on the product would be greatly appreciated so feel free to reach out.

        • Thanks for the reply. I will check it out when I get a chance. Cheers.

Cards with no overseas transaction fee. ING's will also be added to the list soon.

    • Thanks Scotty. That thread is very helpful.

I moved from 28 Degrees to Bankwest Zero Platinum MasterCard for the free travel insurance.

    • But Bankwest doesn't offer price protection, right? Did you ever claim price protection when you had the 28 Degrees and is it a straightforward process?
