Sony WF-1000X Premium Noise Cancelling True Wireless Headphones $224 Delivered @ eglobalcentral-au (HK Stock)

PING20

Available in black & gold

Notes

These retail for $399 at JB Hi-Fi.

My friend recently purchased and said the build quality is excellent as is the sound.

Do not buy these if you'll be watching video as there is a well reported 1-2 second lag when watching YouTube and other videos. Netflix appears to be fine.

He also mentioned that when on a call, audio comes out of the left ear only.

There's also reported issues of micro disconnections with the right ear.

I realise I am bashing a deal I am posting, but figured it's good to make a well informed decision to those interested.

It's a grey import from egblobalcentral-au which is the same seller as eGlobal Digital.

Ships from Hong Kong.

Audio lag, Call through one ear only.

Either the design is detective and they aren't worth $50 or, more likely, his pair is very broken!

Wouldn't bother with something that's proven to be unreliable if it's a grey import.

  • Looks like a pretty good price! I'd get it if it didn't look so much like an oldschool bluetooth earpiece.

reviews are not great. it seems these earbuds have some a connection issue.

i cant care less about what "My friend recently purchased and said" which could be completely bs.

    • They've also gotten really good reviews as well, with great sound & noise cancelling:
      https://www.whathifi.com/sony/wf-1000x/review

Though they also note connection issues.

      • I certainly did check that review and noticed that even though they gave it a shining 5 star, they also had the connection issue.

  • Airpods prob better..

  • Try the Samsung Gear Icon X 2018 earphones. Similar to these and much better reviews.

The faults are quite major, audio lag and disconnections would drive me insane!

  • As a sony sbh54 owner I wouldn't trust sony to do wireless earbuds at all, especially at $225.

Looks like a Bluetooth earpiece wearing wall street hotshot got a promotion. He now wears two ear pieces.

  • I prefer WI-1000X

  • I've been in the market for good quality earbuds, I had a look at these but they had bad review. I tried out AirPods as well, they are really good, from form factor, to connection to the whole package. The only let down with AirPods is, it's either you fit them or you don't, and they don't fit me too well, I wished they had one that had the rubber buds as well.

    • To me, their super-obvious form factor just reminds me of the bluetooth earpieces people would wear 10 years ago. There's a certain "w" word that's often used to describe them. :)

Got these in Japan last month.

Probably only reason to get these is if you specifically want noise cancelling as well.
There is a function that will detect if you're moving or not and switch NC modes to let in ambient sound or not (eg/ As you're walking to hear vehicles coming, or if there's announcements on the train)

I like that they automatically reconnect to my phone as soon as I remove them from the case.

I'm also happy with the sound signature (typical Sony 'V' shape with Bass Boost on).

In busy places once in a while it does cut out, I haven't tried the mode/option for when this happens regularly. There is also another setting to prioritise connection over sound quality.

Battery life is average at best at ~3hrs, and up to 9hrs using the charge case.
As I only use this for the ~45min trip to and from work, this doesn't bother me at all.

  • Didn't realise this was posted as I stumbled across the deal myself yesterday. The user reviews are a deal breaker for me. Such a shame that the connection is so bad and that there is so much lag with video. I'm sure the 2nd gen of these will be awesome. Hopefully Sony take the feedback and release them very soon.

If purchasing I certainly would do so from Hong Kong. Au stock will at least allow you to return really bad ones.
