No, it's not a Leatherman and no it maybe won't last as long but hey for $1.50 it can't be that bad.

      • Depends on the airport. Please be aware.

I myself had the precision screwdriver collected by the airport police in Kuala lumpur, although I tried to explain to them I need these to repair my laptop. The reason they said that these tools has sharp point, that can cause threat to other passengers.

        • This exact same thing happened to me too. I bought the precision screwdriver set to tighten screws on my glasses. Good thing they cost next to nothing.

        • @sschen:

I have not lucky like that. The iFixit set cost me around 30USD :(

Not in my experience. My multitool was confiscated by security check staff at Sydney. Was pretty unhappy about it as well because it was a Leatherman Charge TTI that was gifted to me.

Yep same thing happened to me.

I went back and checked it in using a special bag, but then Qantas baggage handlers stole it.

I went back and checked it in using a special bag, but then Qantas baggage handlers stole it.

Wow that is such bollocks, all that effort and it still gets taken. How do the baggage handlers do this (stealing shit) with such impunity?

      • I was let through at domestic T2 Sydney but confiscated at domestic Brisbane last year

  • Thanks op, Stocking fillers/ kris kringle sorted

This is very handy, I used the saw to cut my arm off once when I was rock climbing, because a boulder fell on it.

    • Fascinating story, interested in selling the movie rights?

which arm? Hope it wasn’t your watch arm

Another 2% Cashback if you swing by CashRewards before SCA. Admittedly 2% from $1.50 isn't much, but hey this is OzBargains so we are obsessed with squeezing every last cent right?

I have one. It's decent enough as long as you don't expect the world of it.

Owned it for a few years now and it's pretty much my go to needle-nose pliers - only because it's in easy reach and I don't have to dig out my tool kit.

  • These sound like a great idea, but wondering if they are actually usable for anything at all? I have a couple of cheap pliers and screwdrivers in the car cost about $10 all up and are usable.

    • I can't comment on this particular one but I have a leatherman that's similar size hanging off my keys and it's surprising how ofter it gets used. Obviously having proper tools is better but if they are in the car vs. having something readily in your pocket makes a world of a difference. That's like at work when someone asks does anyone have adapter/cable/tool/x around and everyone says yeah sure, at home.

      • I used to carry these around

but I certaily wouldn't carry around a leatherman on my keychain. Have you ever used the pliers on the leatherman? And everyone has scissors everywhere.

        • Why not?

And yes, used the daylights out of those pliers before they… Well, broke. Need to send the thing in for replacement though.

Everyone has scissors except when you need one. Same goes for the screwdrivers and funnily enough the bottle opener.

  • This reminds me I have to send my leatherman to be replaced but never have as I don't have a replacement for the mean time. This particular one is sold out neraby but the $3.50 one is available so might give the a go.

  • for $1.50 it can't be that bad.

Just hope you don't have to cut your own arm off one day

    • For that i would use the Leatherman

  • I've gone through a few of these, they're great tools for what they cost. The only thing is that the locking pin (when you unfold it) can be easily broken if you grip/squeeze the handles too hard when using the pliers .

  • Normally $2 and not in many stores in WA.
