    ½ Price Bega Peanut Butter

    I prefer Kraft Peanut Butter.

    • +1

Why do you comment this gibberish?

      • this gibberish?

which peanut butter do you prefer?

    • -1

yeah bought this once thinking it was Kraft.. half the price, half the taste.

Ermmm…are you being sarcastic… for those playing at home, the joke jv was playing at was that Bega peanut butter is Kraft peanut butter.

        • -1

lol sorry should have said i thought it was the original one. anyway it’s still half the taste of the original one.. it’s just left on the shelf in case of emergency.. otherwise would barely touch it

It's exactly the same as before, the only thing that's changed is the logo.

    • +1

      Me too.
However I've stopped buying them for about 3 years now cos of the sources of the palm oil they use.

      https://www.facebook.com/palmoilproductsinAustralia/photos/a…

Not because they use palm oil, but where they get it from.

      • +1 but palm oil is worth avoiding even if you don't care about the environment, it is one of the unhealthiest oils around.

      • Palm oil is such a distraction from the biggest detriments of agriculture. If orangutans didn't have a physical form similar to ours it'd be a moot issue. So much more animal suffering and environmental destruction is caused by countless other agricultural outputs.

    • Old KRAFT peanut butter IS the new Bega peanut butter (courtesy of advertising from Kyle & Jackie O)
They'll have the new KRAFT peanut butter in a couple of months.

  • +4

No added sugar or salt, just 9% random vegetable oil…

    • +1

IME random most often implies palm.

    • Where can I buy this random oil ?

  • +1

    Would taste bland as hell

    • It's not as good as ones with sugar and salt in them obviously, but it's a hell of a lot better than a lot of the alternatives.

  • Wonder where the peanuts are sourced, I noticed Mayver's is now 'at least 50% Australian product' or something??

    • +1

Mayver's working is confusing. Their peanut has two ingredients Peanut and Salt. So 'at least 50% Australian product' has two meanings 1)either 50% of product is Australia (ie either salt or Peanut). Since they also use peanuts from Argentina 2) 50% of peanut are australian if they don't consider salt.

I suspect #1 is true but yet to confirm..

    • +1

You sound particular about your nuts.

  • looking at the nutrition info, youd think "no added sugars, or salt" would make a difference but it looks like its pretty Similar to other peanut butters I've looked at, inc kraft.

    • 14mg sodium per 100g, compared to 577mg in the regular peanut butter. 5.3g sugars vs 8.5g.

  • +1

Actually this is Kraft Peanut Butter, sort of…
    http://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/food/kraft-takes-bega-to-co…

But I suspect JV was reciting a TV commercial, which if dumbmilleial's name checks out was probably on air before he/she was born. ?

  • +1

Next thing Kraft will be saying Bega has damaged
their Brand by selling "their" product too cheap.

    • +1

But it's not branded Kraft it's branded Bega. What should make it all the more fun is when Kraft Heinz America regain control of the rights to use the Kraft name in Australia at the end of the year, bring Kraft products back into Australia.

      • Exactly, then it will be on like Donkey Kong…

Hmm, I think I need a Cheese Sandwich, will I go Kraft Cheese Slices or Dairylea?

  • +2

Kraft shafted Australia by dropping it's brand to focus on North America and sold it's local factory/recipe (via the Mondelez split) to Bega.
Now it wants back in but has to come up with a new recipe and is thinking of buying Mondelez back lol I don't think their management know what they are doing (https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-08-30/buffett-s…).
I hope Bega wins this one for the little guy and fairness.

For those not aware there is a Bega (former Kraft) 100% peanut variety on special this week also. Healthier, less added (non peanut) oil to pad out the product and tasty enough not to need sugar/salt in my opinion. https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/827560/beg…
