Sony WH-1000XM2 Bluetooth Noise-Cancelling Headphones Australian Stock $368 Delivered @ Addicted to Audio

250

Great price for local stock! This is the model that replaces the MDR1000X. It uses new materials so shouldn't have the headband cracking issue that plagued the 1000X. Battery life has also improved, 30 hours wireless+nc, or 40 hours on wired.

It supports aptX, aptX HD, and LDAC, great if your source device supports those codecs.

The noise cancellation sounds better than the QC35, check out this comparison where Jim places microphones inside the earcups of both.

Thanks OP - I'm gonna roll the dice and hope Amazon offers cheaper.

    • +1

      Good luck!

Considering even on Amazon USA it's $298 which coverts to $410+ I find it unlikely!

      • You could be right… decisions decisions =/

Appreciate the advice as well =)

      • Does addictedtoaudio - use couriers or Australia post? Wondering if I can get it delivered to a Parcel Locker

        • +2

Yeap, they use Australia Post Express Post eParcel so you should be able to get it delivered to a Parcel Locker.

  • Silly question but will they provide tax income for GST claim?

    • +2

Yes we will! Full local stock and they are in stock ready to ship!

      • Wow you got here quick. :)

      • Thank you!! Tax invoice I meant :D

        • +1

Of course we give tax invoices for everything we sell.

Does anyone think this is worth an upgrade from Bose QC35? Or are they quite similar?

    • +9

I bought some QC35 II about 2mths ago. About seven guys at my office bought some and utterly raved about them. I got them and "liked" them. They excel in many ways (comfort, battery, noise cancellation). But everyone else implied they sounded amazing and they just simply never WOWED me.

A colleague got a pair of these Sonys and so I've spent the last week doing tonnes of side-by-side tests. The Sony's offer a few cool niceties over the Bose (even better battery life, the ability to hold your hand over the right can to duck the audio and cancel the ANC so you can have a conversation with someone etc.), but ultimately I wouldn't give a shit about any of that because the moment I put them on they blew the Bose out of the water with sound quality.

I paired them both to my phone and laptop and played a tonne of tracks. Even playing 10 seconds of a track with the Bose then jumping to the Sonys and playing the same 10seconds I found the Sonys just had SOOOO much more depth, vibrance and range.

I'm not an audiophile, I just know when something sounds good or not and the Bose just perpetually have sounded "flat" to me whereas the Sonys bring everything much more to life.

All the reviews I read before for the Bose raved about them and my colleagues too so I spend the last few months in denial until I tried the Sonys and confirmed my thoughts. If you're on the fence I HIGHLY! recommend trying them both in a store before making a decision. If you simply don't have the time/ability I assure you the Sony's sound way better and it bums me out there isn't more people talking about it online.

      • Thanks for that comparison. Yeah it seems to be the consensus on the internet that the sound quality is better. But yeah wasn’t sure if it’s just hype or not.

For months I thought I was just being too picky or had weird hearing or something when I just wasn't impressed with the Bose. I felt that even my $100 Plantronics Backbeat fit open-ear bluetooth earbuds sounded better - which is really disappointing when you just dropped ~$400 on headphones. Then I put on my mate's Sony's and I immediately got lost in them. It was so vindicating to know I wasn't going mad =).

  • I just lost my Bose QC35 in an Uber 2 days ago, looks like i'm buying these to replace them. Thanks OP

    • +1

Hmm, you can't get in touch with the driver again?

      • The personal that I shared the Uber with contacted them but they didn't seem to have it but the Uber was the last place I left them so someone must've taken them :(

  • +1

Seems like a really good deal (especially with the free shipping). Cheapest I was about to buy on ebay last night was ~$430.

Just bought a pair. Gotta figure out how to sell my 2mth old Bose QC35 IIs for ~$400 now and I'll even come out ahead.

  • hey it's 325 here https://www.onedigitals.com.au/products/sony-mdr-1000x-noise…

    from the link you posted..

    • +2

That's the 1000x, which is the previous-generation model I described above.

I don't trust that Sony has fixed these.

OP: If the headband cracks, will they be covered under warranty? I don't mean being palmed off to Sony, I mean your store directly?

Read the comments. The poster, Jurgens765, is seen as an anti-Sony crusader.
The video he's raving about was posted by sirhendro, who posted a close-up photo of the "crack".
      Have a look here - it's a scratch/scuff, not a crack.

(it's not my store btw :)

    • +1

We honestly haven't had many if any issues even on the old models! Less than 1-2% back at all

  • +10

    oh boy…bought one

hope the noise canceling comes handy when the missus find out

  • +2

    Thanks OP.

  • Is this available in-store for pickup today from the Newtown location? I am flying out Monday.

    • +1

Give them a call to check stock :)

  • Has anyone compared these to the Sennheiser Momentum 2 or B&W PX?

  • Which colour are you guys getting? I'm still deciding

    • Both in stock but gold is limited on what's in stock right now

      Black shouldn't be an issue!

    • You can indeed it has a built in microphone.

      • What’s outgoing voice quality like? Any idea how it compares to the competition?

    • +1

Registrations are over and not everyone has an AMEX, but thanks for letting people know anyway. :)

I'd think anyone who wanted one would have known about the HN offer by now.
